- Welcome back guys!!
Part 2 of our travels from Perth to Shark Bay and we kick off at a great free camp just outside of Kalbarri. We roll through Shell Beach and Denham for a look before pulling up for a few days at the beautiful Monkey Mia to see the dolphins.
It's a great trip and we'll finish off showing you how we pack the ute for a camping mission away from the caravan!!!
Let us know if you have any questions and we'll get back to you in the comments.
Thanks so much for your support - Justin & Bec....

Thanks guys another great episode. Watching these as I punch north from Brisbane to Townsville and it’s fabulous to have such wonderful positive content to watch whilst doing it.
I love watching your adventures. I love WA and have gone to a lot of places you go. It brings back great memories. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Cheers
Mike.
Your truck is a work of art and your taste of beer (Pure Blonde) is perfect. The dolphins come into the bay because back in 1966 me and my dad(And our fishing club) used to feed them mullies and any small tailor we caught off the jetty. In those days it was only a rough track to get there and it was bring your own water. We went back many times over many years. Unfortunately they have destroyed the place now and all they want to do is rip you off. Keep up the great work on the video's as you both do a fantastic job.
Cheers mate, glad your loving the vids
Just started following your channel. Great see Australia through your eyes.
Loved the comment, "do we spend $15 to allow the kids to stay, or do we save it to buy nice coffee". I laughed. True coffee lovers. Nector of the Gods in the morning.
Safe travels
campingboy love the coffee!!!!😂✌️
Superb, I’m with you all the way on this journey 👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers mate, glad you liked it!
Thanks folks, brilliant as allways 😊🥂🍻👍
cheers mate, thanks for the support
Hey Justin totally agree with ya about the caravan park fee ( for the kids) . Yer we’ve got 4 kids and are totally self sufficient like you guys. It’s just bullshit hey! (Can’t beat a good free camp) Really love watching ya vids, We’re working hard to make things happen so we can get out on the road full time like you guys. Cheers Rod👍
Enjoying your travels. Back in 2009 we did a trip from Broome to Perth travelling with my parents in their caravan (my kids and I stayed in cabins). So many wonderful memories from that trip and I've been wanting to go back ever since. In Monkey Mia we stayed in a really nice little cabin overlooking the beach.
Absolutely a great series a must watch for any new to or seasoned traveler plenty of tips for making your life easier . soon to get our caravan and hitting the road can’t wait !
Keep it up

Cheers for the Vid,we are planning on heading over there next year, stoked you guys have given us an insight, keep up the awesome work
You are so lucky with this beautiful country I hope it never changes too much
Totally agree with caravan prices re paying extra for small children. I got 3 like yourself and its a joke I have to pay up to 10 dollars each for them to stay with us. It's very frustrating. Glad we have you guys paving the way. keeping a tab on the free places you guys use for the time our trip to WA happens in the next few years. Keep up the good work and enjoy your travells. P.s Just bought fly nets because I would go insane.
Thanks mate, glad your getting some good info from the vids! park prices are ridiculous!!

gribbz450 cheers man, love the rig🤘
Great vid and great trip. Went to australia from germany this year. We´ve done the trip together with our 3 kids (18 / 16 / 12) along the east-cost (Perth to Broom) in august this year 2019. Loved every single minute of this beautiful country! The only thing annoying were them dammed flies!! Look like you´ve got plenty more of them during your trip. Keep up doing what you do - very impressive. Once i would like to get back to australia and then do an complete offroad trip!
Love the videos. Thanks for the inspiration. We're currently planning our lap of the map.
Awesome mate, glad we can help
You’ve got hair ! 😆 first time I’ve seen it Loving your clips ! Sooo wanting to get set up and away - Sarah
Bloody Flies mate, you have a cracking setup on your BT50 and caravan🍻🤙🍮
cheers man, its been a long process getting the ideal setup for us!!
Great watching your trip , minus bugs. The fawn coloured packing bags in the back of the car just wondering where you can buy them thanks ...Enjoy.
Bloody great vids. Super helpful. We are off here soon! Can't wait to check it out. Not looking forward to all those freakin' flies though!
cheers mate, flies arent always that bad hey
Awsome couple, great videos!
Thanks so much mate
Next time go to Francois Perron and stay at Big Lagoon. This the highlight of Denham and so much to do in the national park! 👌🏽
ok your definition of stromatolites was just awsome :P
just down the road not a big fan of em
Greetings from Scotland. Awsum videos. You have shown me some beautiful beaches & amazing sunsets.
I'm planning my next holiday to Australia on some of your stops. I'm starting at Perth & finish at Brisbane. What's has been your favourite place.
SO MANY FAVOURITES!! Luck Bay near Esperance, Scotts Beach at Fowlers Bay, Perlubie Beach, Point Turton
Hide the kids in the canopy mate :)
Great Vid, cheers and hope you all doing well
You pick some top spots keep on going.
Love the video guys we are planning to do this in a couple of years with the kids question do you have a weekly budget to work with I could imagine it would blow out pretty quick if you don’t keep track of it so many little tips in your vids too stuff I haven’t even thought of and I work in the caravan industry good work guys can’t wait for the next vid
Cheers man, wee try and stick to $1000 a week. It's hard to travel and explore for any less.
I'm not sure where you guys actually are right now but make sure you head out to Cape Leveque, specifically some of the unpowered free camping spots. Im happy to pass on some specifics if you want them Safe travels!
Randall Tapp cheers mate would love to hear your tips
Another great vid. What brand induction cook top do you have in the canopy?
its called innobella
sweet vid guys 👌👌
Totally agree charging for Kids is BS, question what do you do about security when you are free camping.and what sites do you check for sites.
Maarten V we use WiTi for security and WikiCamps for finding sites
@@TripInAVan Thank you for that, absolute love your channel.
I want to watch more but the flies are annoying me. 😫Great videos anyway. But put your flynet on. Hahaha. I’m swiping my own head whilst watching you. Your kids seem very well behaved. Well done. Enjoy your travels. 😊
Galena is also pretty in the wildflower time too..
We been there3 years ago we enjoyed
Really awesome trip
Hi guys. Have a new BT. Do you use or need a long range fuel tank and what are you averaging per 100 km towing the van. ps love the info you guys have on the vids
Cheers Jon.
Jon Boer thanks for watching mate, we dint have a long range fuel tank. They would be handy to have, but if you’re able to carry 2 or 3 x 20litre jerry cans you’ll have enough fuel to do all the trips we’ve done 🤙 We average 20.5litres per 100km💪
Thanks for the info. We will be towing a single axle off road camper trailer with 2 adults in our freestyle bt so should get better fuel consumption. You guys have been so informative and will definitely be spend a lot of time in the west.
Heading off in 6 weeks for a year long adventure. Can't wait 😎
hope to have a set up like yours one day, just wondering how long can you run your A/C for before the power runs out?keep up the great vids.
about 4-5 hours. Longer if its during the day and we have full sun for the solar panels.
THANK YOU FOR DETAIL VIDEO
cheers for your support
they really stuffed that up. 43 years ago wife and I camped on the beach for 2 weeks. Swimming and playing with the dolphins, Not because they were getting a free feed. We never fed them back then. They liked to swim and play with us. Yes it's really gone downhill since they opened up the country with tar roads. Wife and I still go camping and manage to keep off the tar most of the time.
Love the vids mate, very easy to watch. Do you use camping apps to plan you’re stops, or just wing it.
Wade Castiglioni mainly just wing it but we use wikicamps to find all camp spots👍
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series cheers mate.
You've got it pretty dialed in!
Hi Justin, John (hubby) wants to know how many batteries do you have in the Van and are they lithium
Great video guys … don’t you have a mavic drone also ? … you’ll have to buy fly nets for them pesky flys … stay safe
Yeah mate, i do have a mavic as well.
I prefer free camp and spend the money on something else , once we are on the road next year, I’m lovin all the tips.
Free camp all the way!!
Hey guys totally unrelated question but what video editing software do u use? Love ur vids!!!!!! 😁
we use final cut pro
Another great vid.Now be honest, how many flie have you eaten.
easily eaten 3 , lucky not to be more i reckon!!
How do you stand all those flies, great vids by the way
Nick Simpson cheers man, the flies aren't always this bad thank god
I've stayed at Denham and Monkey...best beach in WA is just around the corner to the right of the pier.
Hi - the induction cooktop what watt is it?. I am looking at doing similar thing. I have a 2000w inverter etc
Flies are included in the free camping spots, cause I think you pay extra for them elsewhere :( That's a great setup on the back of the BT50. Pity you can't shrink the whole family and stay in one of those draws overnight...
Could you please tell me what system you use to run your air conditioner when you haven’t got power to plug in..
Lisa Lenton sure, check out this link www.tripinavan.com.au/offgrid-battery-setup
Bec where is your necklace from? X
Missuzi
I’m going to be doin a diy off grid van conversion early next year and I need a battery bank and system strong enough to easily handle a aircon running when needed who would you recommend mate I’m a solo chick and would prefer a professional electrical instal
Just a question about you lithium setup and the aircon. How long do run the aircon for at a time
Have you been around the Eyre Peninsula?
Mark Whysall yeah we went a few years back
I understand where your coming from on the $15 dollars for the kids ! I'd give you that ! The video worth more to me than that amount!! I'll donate !!
I recently discovered your website and channel and I've learned a huge amount in a short space of time from looking through your resources.
I recently downloaded your budget tips and pack list from your website, and I've been busily writing down tips from your RUclips vlogs. All I can say is "well done!" - your output has been incredibly useful and very enjoyable. Thanks.
Do you have some kind of "Patreon" set-up, 'coz I'm feeling a little guilty about learning so much from you both and not contributing something back :-)
Also, I'm trying to watch your 2019 "Big Lap" series in sequence, but the Episodes seem to be mixed up with all your other content (e.g. I can't find Ep 5 or 6). Am I doing something wrong or is my lack of tech knowledge showing with this question??
David Riley thanks mate, glad we can help and stoked that your getting a lot of info from our vids.
We do have a Patreon Page, your support would mean a lot.. 🙏 You can find it here www.patreon.com/Tripinavan
Galena Bridge can be a nice spot but there are some real morons who stop there and seem to like to keep everyone else up all night. We no longer use it as a stop-over. 8 months of waiting comes together tomorrow as we head off to Tamala. We've seen the eastern peninsula before but this will be the first time on the western one. I hope a few of those flies have gone by the time we get there ...
safe travels mate, you will love Tamala!!
Do you guys ever think it might be worth investing in fly nets. I know they are a pain in the bum but those flies some times must drive you crazy. PS you don't do the Aussie salute as much.
Are the amount of Fly’s because of the time of year ?
Would drive me mad 😡
Matt Nicholls just done weird weather! They are t usually that bad hey😂😂
That sucks charging per person I am with you should be per site I would avoid those greedy bas?????ds if you can enjoy love the set up
They would make more in the long run by charging a fair price i reckon.. it's frustrating!
Trip In A Van - RoadTrip Australia Series totally agree that's the way it has always been until now they wonder why people free camp when you can .you have a good family because you do all the work don't tell the wife haha.
@@rockbiterhd HAHA, cheers man.
They should charge by the van not per kid, what does one more child do? Means fa
5:12 Has Billy been doing this since Kalbarri LOL
Steep Point I was there 30yrs ago it was all 4x4
when do you fit in home schooling
Hi guys all of us that sit in our ass ! But we in joy the videos and say one day ! No worries but lets get them a 2500 dodge 4x4 Cummins drive ! With other than Patriot campers on the back of this pick up
how much would it to modify BT50 ute
I could not deal with all those Flies
Happy wife , happy life I say.
it's just easier that way hey!!
I touched that very sign
How do you guys make money while traveling
social media and youtube
You missed Steep Point
Mates, love the show, the rig, the kids and the very handsome missus, who is the most patient girl in the world. As for the stromatolites of Shark Bay, of which you couldn't understand the significance...."These look for all the world like some type of rock but they contain some of the earliest forms of life that exist on the planet today. ...'it's not the sight of stromatolites that makes them exciting. It's the idea of them' - Bill Bryson
The rock like structure is produced by the excretions of a type of blue-green algae that is thought to have originated some 3,500 million years ago and for 2,850 million years they were the only evidence of life on the planet. There are some 50 species of cyanobacteria found at the Hamelin Pool site alone. They are the simplest form of single cell life known to exist. Population densities have been estimated at 3,000,000,000 per square metre and the structures they create can be 10,000,000 times larger than the individual organisms.
And, they create oxygen through photosynthesis which some believe, over a billion years or so, created the atmosphere that allowed life to exist on earth.
I'm glad I went to Monkey Mia before it got commercialized. Looking forward to the Exmouth video.
waldoh Pepper cheers mate
Fricking insects flying like they want to kill ya!....
Never run your aircon at 16°c at minimum 20°c
like my wife the bloody phone she can talk under water
mooditj ;-)
Bloody Flies mate. Its not a good look for Tourism for Australia. Please show some ways
for repelling flies
I think we just had some bad weather conditions that caused the fly's. They aren't always that bad!!
or ban cattle farming. ruining the country. rumour has it pre grazing...flyless!!!
Nothing works for repelling flies, unless you want to spray yourself with a toxic spray like aero****. Even that only works for 30 mins or so. I’ve tried all the other sprays but just a waste of money. Fly net.
They are the oldest live thing on the planet.
Yes i dont paying for kids
This place is a joke, they charge a high fee to enter the beach and then all you see are domesticated dolphins and a bunch of people on the beach.
Australians like to say they are not domesticated, but these animals are since they come to the beach to be fed.
