Thanks a lot installed them today. This video is str8 forward and easy to follow. I'm just worried about any fire hazards...let me know what you think?
With the dome light installation you will not use the fuse box. You will connect the +/- wire leads of the LED strips to the +/- points on the dome light.
These strips connected to your amp will be consider a aftermarket installation. In most states aftermarket accessories are illegal if they cause a distraction to other well driving. Now if you do this for car shows or just at home most people are ok and wont get busted by the police.
Would it have the same effect of dimming on and dimming off when open/close the door By splitting the wires from the fuse under the steering wheel ? If so, it doesn’t have to be an LED strip, it could be a single bulb to make the effect look as if it was OEM, correct?
doesnt the effect from the LED's get sorta, cancelled out by the dome lights/ map lights turning on too? They make it pretty bright no? Maybe bright enough so that the LED's dont show that much?
I don't know why anyone would tie into the literal dome light. They're called curtousy lights when you open the door and the lights in the door panels come on. People asking about tying into the fuse for the dome light, won't work, it's always hot. Gauge size should be calculated by finding the wattage of total leds desired. The ad will say how much they are. Typically are around .24W per led and 300 led in 16 ft roll. Meaning you get (insert length of leds here)*4.32W=total watts. Then divide by 12 and that's the amperage your strips need to run at full power. Search online for wire gauge for this amperage in car wiring. Should be fine with 14awg.
How is the dome and door courtesy always hot? What causes them to shut down after 30 seconds of opening / closing the doors or turning off the vehicle?
DO NOT WIRE IT THROUGH THE WEATHER STRIPPING .... it will ware are short out over Time... Run the wire behind the plastic covers along the edges of headliner or down the center pillion where the seatbelt is then down along the floor under carpet... Better chances of long-term use .. also do not recommend just using the light socket for source... Better off following the leads to the dash and tieing into them there from the dimmer switch
I'll never understand why anybody wires like this. Completely wrong and unsafe. You literally have your wire plug right there 🤣. Test which wire is which follow it down into the kick panel and tap in there. Safe, neat and no reason to go through all this nonsense snaking wire through your headliner. All this extra work to short out your dome light, blow fuses, melt wire harness or worse. Unreal. Some people should NEVER post tutorials on RUclips.
All fine and dandy until over time that wire shorts out under the weather stripping due to the door and causes a fire. Never run wires like that.
Finally a video that explains how its done correctly. thnx a lot. anyone can do this after watching this video.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "correctly"
Sir you just simply wrap around to each ends.. will it not cause fire?

hi!! I pulled my weather strip down and push it back, it wont hold on anymore.. did you put something to make it stick?

hey man, is it possible to find the +/- dome light wires by the driver side door in the trim or something?? instead of doing it this way..
Why can't you find this circuit at the fuse box? Seems to me there is a circuit that powers the dome and the 2 door lights in most vehicles.

Even if i were to hook them up to my amp and have them in my trunk? or is that illegal
how many led strips do you guys think is too much pressure on my dome light? I wanna attach underglow to this same circuit.
what's that called the rod you threaded it with?
U can find that wire under the dash or the kick panel
No, most new cars come with this option as a upgrade.
Wait so with the dome light installation, do you just not put the positive on the LED in the fuse box?
Would that work
also i have 18 guage wire is that fine?
This is the best video I've seen thanks
can you get in trouble for having these inside your car.
you know it would be a lot easier to split the wire from the fuse under the steering wheel
thats what i thought

18 AWG is ok..
Bruh... u should’ve just attached them to your headlight fuse so they turn on when you turn on your headlights with a fuse splitter...

Looks cool
Huh?
Your supposed to wire them to your headlights lol
no because you want them to turn on when the door opens or you hit the door lock on your remote. your headlights are not on when you get into your car
Username checks out.
That's absolutely the wrong way to do it.
