Would have been worth mentioning that 'peripheral vision' allows quicker reaction times, which you do hint at. Your peripheral vision lacks detail and color, but does provide a quicker response than by looking directly at the 'object of interest', drag racers and all other professional race car drivers all use this skill.
I once picked up 8 positions in the first lap just from setting my self up for the lap because of a very good start, I started 12 and by the end / start of lap 2 I was in 4th
Another great video Ryan! Starts have always been my weakness and these tips were super useful. Could you give a bit of insight on how you warm up the kart and getting the setup so that the kart is on it from the first corner?
Yes, please post your race from Utah! Also, I like the fundamentals that you shared with the different starting positions (back, mid-pack and front) and to really be ready for contact, when and where that would be. One thing that I would like to hear from you is when you have contact and which drops you a lot of positions or out of the race, how that affects you mentally? I often time will have to remind the young drivers that they can't be upset with events that happen outside of their control. Try and learn from them and put yourself in a better place to avoid that in the future. This was a really good video and we can't wait to see more.
@@racingforbeginners154 Its one of the harder habits to kick. Oliver askew was one driver I always thought never let his emotion get to him during a race. He was where I learned it from. Get what you can out of the race. Turn off that switch that's telling you to panic.
These tips are fantastic, will use them. I just need to get my carburetor right so I don’t bog down on the start. Do you ever lean or richen your carb for a start?
Just curious, your videos are really really well done, what app do you use for the video in video clips, being able to talk through and even pause vids while talking? It's one of my favorite features and something that sets you apart (racing Spec Miata here and would like to do our own version of it)
this weekend was europeans and the best way here to gain positions is to full throttle the guy ahead of you and he crashes into the guy into him and its so ridiculous and its what happened to me
@@NorbergNation yeah its supposed to be the best level in the world but there literally blind people would be so dirty and teams find crazy ways for the nose cone to be so strong
Hey Ryan this is Brayden idk if u remember but we met in Utah at the races, and I wanted to know if u have an email I can send videos of my races to you and you can give me pointers or tips maybe?
Post the race Ryan. Even though you're leading, it's great to watch your lines and technique. Thanks for the tips.
Sounds good!

I did not know the science behind it. Makes a lot of sense now.
I love these advice videos man. Super informative, super practical, super applicable. Love these.

Great video Ryan. You're a decent man showing others your success and how they can achieve the same.
Thank you! Glad I could help!
Awesome advice !! Thanks so much & yes please post that race. We can learn just by watching your lines !!
Sounds like a plan
Very very useful & helpful info, Ryano. Thanks I have now liked & subscribed to every post.

I’m a future driver, and very much appreciate the knowledge you unselfishly give.
Always happy to give it out!

It basically comes down to trying to have a short memory. You don't want to focus on it. Just accept that it happened and start digging.
@@NorbergNation Love it! Some of us (myself included) are emotional drivers and I'm trying to kick that habit. Thank you for your input!

I normally don’t touch anything. Make sure you have smooth application when getting on the gas and that should help
love this
Love the video. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Good advice, ill try and incorporate your techniques. Can you do a video about your favorite tracks to race at?
Good idea!
I raced a lot of indoor and transitioning to outdoor I always gain positions every start
just a question, how come some guys like yourself cover the bolt with the stub axle to track rod
I would guess to hide their Ackerman and pill settings.

I watch the video and clip it in while I edit. Every app I used the quality was terrible and this way I can still use good quality video and audio
Can you please post the full race where you started in the back
I got taken out like 2 corners later so I didn’t get far
@@NorbergNation oh well
I think I follow you on tiktok. Small world lol

Thanks this helped
Nice! Thanks for watching!
My best start ever was at 2020 Rok the Rio when I started 45th I think and ended up 25th by lap 2. #NorbergNation #AllisonApproved
Mega lunge into the hairpin

hey rayan .. i wanted to ask if the give away is already over. And thanks for the video which was very helpful. :)
Yes the winner was announced on my instagram and on the comment section of the video! Thanks for watching!
Make a video about passing to
Already got one up!
finally!
Your eyes look so cool with them being different colours. I hope you don’t mind me asking but is it heterochromia
I think that's what it is haha
I judge the opposition. A bunch of young lads. Predicted they would overcook the corners. They did. I took advantage.
That’s a good point. Knowing your competition is key
Thanks. I'm not always right. I prefer a good battle than a rollover. More satisfying.
Lmaoo imma need this at USPKS Road America
One of the hardest tracks to start at
@@NorbergNation For the cheesehead challenge I had a great start at Road America passed 7 karts off of the straight and the exit of the first chicane

This isn't relevant to shifter starts except on a restart after a red flag.
I like the helmet in the background!

I noticed you switched shoes back to your old ones did you have any issues? or did they just get dirty?
No it was supposed to rain so I switched
