You, Tony, are a unique selling point, and a good one. It isn't that your guests aren't good; they are. They just aren't you. I don't care if you read a story set in Amerca in a British voice. Anyone who doesn't shouldn't be listening, anyway.

@@classicdetective of course, Tony. The pleasure is mine. Returning to the issue of other readers, don't give up! The collaborations are also good. And if having occasional guest readers allows you to do other things, like life, that is good. Keep curating for the right readers. Ones that match your quality and perhaps some of the essence of what you bring so that your audience does not feel jolted by the variance.

    P.S.
You are CORRECT- your listeners come to hear you. Other channel narrators that you’ve worked with have been great, but, REALLY M.A.Walker, we come for your quality production, your excellent choice of short stories by authors who are incredibly skilled at their craft, and, of course, we come for the well researched & migrating journey to the creator & the stories’ soul. (Plus, your personality is open & caring, two qualities not found much on social or main stream media.) So, thank you! 📧

Brilliant…….. just wonderful …….🤗🤩🥰😍 ……… please give us some more…….. and thank you for telling us about the person Margery Allinham …. now, being 78 years old, it brings back memories of my teen age years. My parents, especially my father, loved especially the British detective stories, so I grew up with Albert Campion, Peter Wimsey, Roderick Alleyn and Hercule Poirot…… yes, I have also been puzzled by the fact we are so entertained by horrid things like in this story, the killing of three wives… in a chilling and at the same time dark humorous way… Thank you very much and best wishes from the Cape in South Africa ❤

I discovered your channel a couple of days ago and enjoyed the first story very much, but wanted to listen to a second one before deciding to subscribe. I have just done so and it makes me happy that you will continue to be the narrator. Your voice and presentation keeps my mind focused on the stories, which most readers seem to fail at. I also enjoy the added information at the end of each story. Thank you so much for sharing your time, skill, and obvious love of reading and a good story with us.

Wow thanks Tony, that was excellent. I think the reader knows from the outset that he’s going to get rumbled otherwise there’d be no story. I think it was the journey to his getting rumbled that was so enjoyable. The more we see of him the more vile he is. I wasn’t sure if Edith was dead or not, but I was surprised and ultra chuffed that she’d outsmarted him so thoroughly. Allingham used Torbay’s narcissistic scorn and prejudice against women to blindside the reader and it really works, because we tend to see her the way Torbay describes her.
I liked the use of the number three and all its echoes of fairytales and folklore too - a subtle nod to fables, morality tales etc. Ronald was so horrible there was a definite feel good element to the ending - not just that “dowdy middle aged “ Edith had escaped him but had so thoroughly outmanoeuvred him when he had such a high opinion of his intelligence and abilities. Sometimes I like a dark and sorrowful, even sinister ending, but this was perfect! Thanks again!

I love these stories! Whenever I hear an audiobook read by a robot, it just misses some sort of nuance between characters, it's harder to catch subtle differences that show a joke or seriousness, and it makes a world of difference. Yes, you can understand each word, but every robotic sentence is entirely forgettable! I love the reading here on your channel, for the humanity and discussion.
