I love how Moroccan Arabic is largely an amazigh-accented version of Standard Arabic, and throwing in some Classical Arabic words that are aren't normally used in Modern Standard Arabic, and sprinkling a bit of non-Arabic words here and there once in a while. Thanks for this great lesson. It's the best channel for learning darija in my opinion.
You prolly dont care but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
Oh I love this! So useful! I had so many aha moments. It is interesting how Darija is a blend of MSA, Amazigh, French, Spanish and I can tell there are many grammatical patterns from Egyptian dialect as well! An absolute delight for linguists. 😍
I go surfing in Morocco twice a year (always places in/under Essaouira). I started trying to get by with Fusha, but Moroccans love it when you make the effort and put as much darija into your Fusha as you can. I am impressed with how much I can understand and speak. All thanks to these videos (and the kind people of Morocco who I practice on :D). I love Darija, Morocco and Moroccans.. and of course you guys!!!

Salam Painless Arabic :) i think you doing a great Job! Thanks for all the nice Videos! Could you please make a Video about the Darija Grammar? For example how to build sentences.. that would be really amazing, because I myself have a broad understanding of Darija, but I'm unable to build own sentences. Videos about grammar would be perfect :)
Hi. Can anyone tell me what this saying means: "Sebbe9 lmim terta7" or maybe "Sbeq lmim terta7"? I've seen it written both ways. I think I understand the literal translation ("Start with M and relax"?), but that doesn't make sense to me. I'm missing something. Thank you!
Mim refers to the negation before the verb, for example ما شفتش I didn’t see; ما مشيتش I didn’t go (the verb is implied). So if you deny something, you don’t have to deal with it.
It’s basically saying I haven’t seen it, I’ve never been there, I haven’t heard that, even if you have. You deny so you can relax and avoid responsibility for something that happened or may happen.
Thank you for these helpful videos - please keep them coming. Can I please trouble you with a grammar issue please, in particular, indirect and direct pronouns. For example, we can say, 'I gave the book to John'. But how do we say, in Moroccan Arabic, 'I gave the book to him'. Also, how would we say, in Moroccan Arabic, 'I gave it to him'. I cannot seem to find these grammar rules anywhere on the internet and hope you can help. Thankyou.
I gave the book to John = 3tt-it Lktab L John (infinitive of the verb give = 3tta/ present :ana kan3tti = I give /past : ana 3tt-it = I gave I gave it to him = 3tt-it-u li-h 3tt = base form of the verb/ u = it / L=to / h = him (object pronoun)

Manta comes from spanish manta, that means blanket.
¡Muchas gracias! Shukran bzaaf!!

شكرا بزاف 👍😂
Nice video. I think مانطى could very well be from Spanish "manta" with the exact same meaning instead of from French manteau.
You are right, thank you 😉
I think "Manta" is from spanish word "manta" = blanket

Hello? Anybody there?

@@PainlessArabic O.K., maybe I see a bit better what it means. I'll need to listen for this expression in different contexts to understand better.
It’s basically saying I haven’t seen it, I’ve never been there, I haven’t heard that, even if you have. You deny so you can relax and avoid responsibility for something that happened or may happen.
@@PainlessArabic Thank you! I think I get it now.
