0:27 [Dagger is strolling along. One person runs up a set of stairs, chasing another one] "Come back here!" Dagger "Was that a pickpocket? I should be careful." Uh yeah, it's a bit too late to "be careful", and not just because you wandered off in Treno like a dummy, but also for you considering this whole "going back home" plan to not be a really bad idea. 1:27 [Dagger walks off screen. Steiner follows her on the next one] Steiner "Princess, please wait!" "It may be a trap! You cannot trust criminals!" "Think of the consequences! You are a princess!" "If the queen hears about this..." Garnet hasn't been thinking of the consequences since Lindblum. Baku "Always talkin' about yer duty. Ain't you got thoughts of yer own?" Steiner "Don't you talk back to me! I am escorting the princess-" Baku "I thought you might've changed after travelin' with Zidane, but..." "...you ain't changed. Neither has Dagger, but everyone seems to be ignoring her stupidity because she is a creator's pet. Speaking of Zidane, aren't you going to show a bit of concern on the whereabouts of your adoptive son, Baku? Or are you still as neglectful as ever? Baku doesn't even ask about Zidane to Garnet or scold her for blowing him off. Baku Do you even know why you're here?" Steiner "Wh-What do you mean!?" Dagger "Let's just go, okay?" Is no one going to bring up Baku's whole "leave Dagger behind in the Evil Forest" bit? That would have definitely landed him in hot water with Cid, and Garnet knows now that Cid planned for Baku to kidnap her, but none of this will be brought up and Baku will face no repercussions. No one also gives Steiner a proper speech on why he is so stupid and oblivious, when they really should have, same for Dagger.
Just like with Wall Market, the song here has always made this city absolutely ooze with charm. Despite being a seedy and dangerous place, it's always so fun to be in. It helps that there's so much to do here.
The other reason why I persisted playing FF9: chasing the stellazio medallions so I would listen to this wonderful piano-bar music. Hell, THIS version is superior to most "real" piano versions
Funny story with this song, I played Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call before I played FFIX and since Dark City Treno has such an imposing name and was at the bottom of the music list for IX (where the final dungeon and boss music is in the game), I thought it was the final dungeon theme.
0:00 Steiner "Princess, this is Treno, the City of Nobles." Where do they get hundreds of nobles from? What do they all rule? Dagger "We need to find out which noble has the Supersoft." Marcus "There aren't many nobles living here. The nights are long. It's a great place for thieves." Steiner "People like you turned this city into a slum!" Okay this is absurd, Treno is called "the city of the nobles"… Despite the fact that there are slums on every corner in bulk. Again, no common sense, no coherence in the world order. Sakaguchi just wanted to make a city with nobles for the sake of it. Marcus "...Let's steal the Supersoft and get this over with." Steiner "Steal!? How dare you!" "Do you think I'd let you commit a crime before my very eyes!?" Marcus "How else would we get the Supersoft?" Steiner "Quiet! I will not allow such disgraceful behavior!" Oh you mean like how you stole that cargo ship in Dali, Steiner? Marcus "I never asked you to come along. Quit complaining." But yet you let Dagger come along, and thus Steiner did too. What did you think was going to happen, Marcus? [Dagger runs off the left side of the screen] Really? Garnet is just going to wander off like a moron instead of simply sticking with Marcus to get the supersoft? So much for "priorities". Steiner "Don't you talk back to me! First of all-" Marcus "...Uh-oh." Steiner "Do not interrupt me while I'm talking!" Marcus "Look behind you." Steiner "What!?" "Princess, I urge you not to...!" "P-Princess!?" [Marcus walks off the right side of the screen] "No... Not again..." "Never have I dealt with such hardship during my 18 years of service." "This is all because of you and your scoundrel friends...!" [Turns around to see that Marcus isn't there] "Gone..." "An Alexandrian knight must not let such a frivolous matter get to him! I must find the princess!" Really? Marcus is just going to split off too? What happened to STICKING TOGETHER? I'm pretty sure that Marcus would want to keep close proximity on Dagger, considering that his brother Zidane left Tantalus for her and he should also be more concerned about Zidane's unknown status and whereabouts. This is just stupid.
I checked my bank account after listening to this track and lost 500 Gil.
I checked my pocket and got an oglop card
You must be doing something wrong then, because this one guy gave me a power belt.
Welcome to my sixteen hour long marxist analysis of the class dynamics of the fictional city of Treno from Final Fantasy IX.
I remember playing the card game, wasn't as good as FFVIII, but still enjoyable, but this theme is one of my favorite area themes in this game
Tetra Master >>> Triple Triad. Way too many dumb rule variations in Triple Triad that completely ruined it.
@@IcyAuron the challenge of the randomness, accepted!

盗まれるのが500ギルだったり星宮ジェミニ取得してたりプレイ動画に小ネタが詰め込まれていて好き

Precisely. Same goes for Zozo in FFVI
Throw 10 Gil into the fountain 13 times.
My late mother really enjoyed listening to this track and “Melodies of Life”. ❤
With enough practice, any pianist can play this piece! 😊
Fun fact - double the speed of this piece and what do you have? A musical piece straight out of Charlie Chaplin's works!
That is what it is based on.
walked around NYC; at night, with this theme. Felt pretty fitting lol
Hi, I’m Muse! Cheers from Brooklyn!
There is no casino but you still somehow lose a lot of money before leaving Treno.
FF9をまだプレイしてない人にステラツィオの取り方を教えてくれる公式動画
always got a bit of casino feel here to the music
結構長いことFF9 video soundtrack続いてるのにまだトレノなの、FF9の曲のボリュームの多さを物語ってる
グルグ火山とかテラとか守るべきものとか銀龍戦とか神曲が全然残ってる事実がおそろしい
Of course my favorite in all of FFIX!
She unbeatable when encounter her. I played with Moguri Mod and Playable Beatrix for the PC version of FFIX

I love this piece, might be my favorite from 9 aside from the world map theme
Best piano ost from ff!

I played this game like 15 years ago and today got this tune in my head 😅
