For people saying there are better performance cars out there. Show me what is a better package for $27k that has: - Turbo making over 250HP - AWD, full-time locking diff, not the fake AWD systems that only works when car detect slips - Huge aftermarket - Reliability, look what happened to the Ford Focus RS The closest package is the Audi A4 and that cost over $35k under 200hp.
Vision33r I thought the wrx only had open front and rear diffs with a viscous centre diff. So it’s awd system still replies on software that detects slip to limit power left and right. I may be wrong lol
Here's a description: "When slip on the front or rear axle is detected, a locking center differential is able to send up to 80 percent of available torque to the axle that has the best traction. The center differential uses a viscous coupling that operates without the aid of computer control and reacts to the mechanical differences in grip. This type of coupling has been around for ages and its appearance on the 2015 Subaru WRX means that it probably isn't going anywhere soon. This simple, robust system is the workhorse of Subie's AWD reputation."
Nothing happened to the RS. They put the wrong head gaskets that were made for the Mustangs on a few. Problem fixed. Covered under warranty. I'm not a RS fan, but get it right.
the only problem is it doesnt have limited slip diffs in the rear and front, when I get mine im gonna swap out the open diffs at least the rear. This is why this car can't accelerate up to its potential off of a corner. An LSD is the fix. Also the reason it has a pretty good (in my opinion the best) AWD is because its symmetric so you dont get a left or right bias based on it.
Well, if you consider 4 door AWD sedan to be perfect performance car then you are probably right about pricing. However, compared to WRX, 370Z is a real sports car and often can be found heavily discounted at dealerships for around 26-29k. It is relatively old now with unimpressive interior, but when it comes to pure performance to money ratio, imo, nothing beats 370Z
My 18' is absolutely easier to get into first gear unlike my 2010 which I had to be at a standstill for the most part. The gas mileage is insane for what this car is as well. Im averaging over 27 just commuting into work. The clutch is much lighter than my old 2010 was which makes being in traffic much easier to deal with. Before tax title and licence I got this out the door on a premium trim for 27,085ish. Pretty nice. The paint is soft and I already have rock chips on my front bumper in less than 4500miles. Get a clearbra asap. The mufflers are way way way too quiet on this car stock but thats always been the tradition for these which is a shame as they all sound really nice. The premium trim (mid level) does get the upgraded wheels, + the heated mirrors and seats you dont need the limited for that. Hill holder feels much more sensitive which can be annoying but for the most part I like the feature and am used to it. It feels slower than my 2010, but thats probably not quite accurate as this makes boost MUCH sooner. So you are making boost pretty much as soon as you floor it and its so linear that you dont get the sudden insane woosh of earlier years. Kind of sad but makes the car overall more driveable. Also... there are no blind spots. Zip. Zero. Nada. You can see everything EVERYWHERE. Its like driving a minivan, if a minivan did a load of coke.
Kyle Mendoza if you live where there is snow you will need either a set of all seasons or a winter tire set. The stock tires are 100% summer only. Get one you won’t regret it. It’ll take a month or two to get comfortable with the clutch. They always tend to be a little weird on Subaru’s.
Jurassic Tech Thanks, I actually live in florida so the tires won’t be a problem. I am a bit concerned about the paint chipping easily though. I’ve read forums and apparently it’s not the WRX, but subaru in general is known for their thin paint which easily chips... i’ve also read about people being offered paint protection plans when they purchase the vehicle at the dealer, i’m gonna have to look into that.
I just picked up a 2020 WRX Limited with the STI short shifter. It was $34k and worth every penny. I absolutely love the car and as an older guy who appreciates the added comfort and tech I think the Limited definitely deserves a look if you have the extra cash.
I have one of these, base model. Stage 1 with intake and muffler delete kit. It huffs and puffs and goes like hell. Its the best car I’ve ever owned, and I’m 65. KBB says it’s still worth almost what I paid for it 4 years ago. 👍
To whom ever wants to know, the wheels are made by Enkei. The MPG is about 24 city/highway combined. If I take mine on a long trip driving 70 mph I average 28 mpg (30 mpg according to the computer but it seems to be off by 2 mpg).
With my 18' almost 29mpg on my daily commute to work. @65 on the highway. Car took more than the 1k miles to break in though. Its finally starting to feel comfortable with itself at around 4k now.

I felt like a live audience member for the first time ever. I have a 16 STi and my wife drives a 2018 WRX. We were Ford people, but Subaru is the way forward. We like to work on our cars and tinker. Combined 60k+ miles with nothing but smiles.
I bought a MY19 CVT Premium about a fortnight ago. It's got Apple Carplay/Android Auto and DAB - and I think that's the only major difference from MY18. Australian trim specs are a bit different - but overall your review is matching my experience. Also, I like how you take a "horses for courses" approach to your reviews. One shouldn't compare a good Asian noodle take out with high tea in Palm Court at the Plaza. The WRX is like a high end burger joint with craft beers on tap and live music.
You could use the terminology "masculine" for the WRX styling, and the CVT version appeals to any driver who's not proficient with a manual transmission. Also, the WRX is a GDI motor [gas direct injection] whereas the BRZ has both GDI and port fuel injection, and port fuel injection motors are more sensitive to fuel octane
I don't know if this was ever noted or changed (haven't gotten to any of your newer live reviews) but its really frustrating that the person off camera doesn't have a mic so we can't really hear the questions

I also have never seen a limited WRX without the navigation system so automatically you are paying 2k more than you might want to pay just to get those LED headlights... not happy about trim offerings from Subaru! Base headlights have always been crap.
You can order an unoptioned limited very easily. That's what I did and am very happy I did it. The mirrors mean I don't need the blind spot detection and reversing using the camera and mirrors means I don't need rear cross traffic detection, and with 2019 I have android auto so no need for crappy nav. The only thing nice in the option available to the limited that is worth paying for is the HK audio. So order the unoptioned WRX. It's only a 2-3 month wait. I got my 19 limited for $30k on the nose before TTL.
We have the ability to do that with our existing setup. We use an Apollo for our main 4-cam switch (mobile) and Wirecast, which allows for any mobile device to be a camera feed.

The scoop ridiculous? It’s functional., the WRX NEVER HAD A WING, only the STI did. Some people...swap trunks.
There actually was an optional wing on earlier WRX models (bug and peanut-eye designs). It wasn't very tall but I would still call it a wing.
