    1. Georgians start with -50 food. That means we have to force drop for quite sometime in the dark age and that's a problem for non-pros.
    2. Vietnamese are almost played as a CA civ which is not easy for the general population. And like you mentioned their eco bonus is very small and at mid elos we'd die to Franks and Mongols due to timing disadvantage.

      @@Mattroid99 yes I guess so, what I do is to practice random map random civ and play the first 5-10 mins Vs the ai and try and get a feel for scouting, collecting sheep and boars, push deer etc as sounds a bit boring I guess but gets your APM up and Hera's build orders are super helpful

    • @Mattroid99
      @Mattroid99 7 месяцев назад

      @@why_wait I did the same for DA practice, is just that the Georgian start is particularly tough and when you have other very easy scout civs there is not much reason to pick Georgians instead

    • @hareshneeraj998
      @hareshneeraj998 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@why_wait I do the practice vs AI too but actual game things go different. Have to be cautious about boar, deer pushing and still time the drop correctly. Happens well sometimes but not always. And even after all of that its still tough to keep up scout production after 2 or 3 scouts and spears. Much smoother with civs like Franks, Mongols, Lithuanians. Its definitely a civ that's going to take time to become comfortable.

    Omg, the one commenting that he's 1k-1k2 on open maps and Poles is A tier is delusional, Poles can't cover themselves because of the Folwark It's just an easy game when you're cav or archer civ against Poles and why you'll play a infantry civ in 2023 right? Even a tower with infantry civs would stop them and make them lose a lot of eco and timing.

  • @donjoncraig6804
    @donjoncraig6804 7 месяцев назад +5

    I think a better way to explain your criteria for placing civs isn't necessarily that it reflects the top meta, just reflects the civ's skill ceiling. Like if a magyars player and a mayans player both knew how to play their civ really well, often the mayan play will still pull ahead because of better eco, cheaper archers and good eagles throughout the game.

    Hot take: chinese are not bad at lower elos because of their start, but because their power resides in tech switching.
    Almost every 900+ can execute a fine enough build order with them (with "enough" meaning them being ahead of a generic civ). Now knowing the exact timings for switching techs and all that comes with it? I think even 2k players struggle at that.

    At 14-1600 elo, 1 out of every 2-3 games is a mongols picker with under 100 games, lames & forwards. Easier to counter now when you see a mongols pick with a villager icon, protect your res and scout like crazy. Just gets repetitive.

    As someone who has never played ranked and just play with my friend against ai. We recently beat 2v2 hardest. We play for the late game and don’t rush the ai and have on giant map and 500 pop as that’s fun. Every civ seems powerful to us, every civ can do really well. Watching this video has made it less likely for me to ever wish to play ranked or player vs player. It’s just fun being able to enjoy whatever civ i want and have fun in massive battles

      To be fair PvP in just about any game is going to have a structure/gameplan associated with it. In a FPS shooter it's about reflexes and positioning. In RPGs it's about skill rotation and communication. In AoE though, it pretty much takes most of those competitive elements and dials it up to 11 as you go up in ranks.
      If you want to play online competitively, you'd have to learn the established strategies and/or come up with your own to rise through the ranks. Otherwise, you could settle with the lower ranks and just have fun. Unless if you're making a living off of the competitive environment, it's best to just have fun. 🙂
      Ultimately, I think if you can accept that you'll (likely) fall in ranking to where you're likely to have a fun, competitive match you should give it a shot. If not, versing the AI is probably the best place to stay.

    • @Mattroid99
      @Mattroid99 7 месяцев назад

      These tier lists mostly apply to the top level, which is a very very small part of the playerbase.
      Is natural in competition that certain strategies/units will get more success than others, and this even scales at levels of play (At 1.2k cav civs are all insane while archers are whatever, at 2k is the other way around etc).
      But unless you are at the very top what matters is how well you play, the civ matchup only goes so far and ultimately wins who makes the least amount of mistakes
      So really, don't worry about that and give it a try

    I think that at lower level (like me, around 1k Elo) in general, archer civs are less viable than cavalry civs and that's why vietnamese are there. Archers are more complicated to use micro-wise and require a lot of upgrades to be 100% effective. Cav archer especially

      If they only make a couple, make 2-3 camels in response. If you notice them getting armour and committing, respond accordingly. Timing is everything and it's all easy to say when not in the heat of battle of course.

      @@Jompa10 look I'm no expert in the matter, I'm but a wee nooblet myself lol. But I think it's very worth popping a stable down if you think knights could be coming so it's ready.
      Or as you said you can go monk/pike or something like that. Depends on the game, depends how much you feel like microing monks, number one rule is whatever you choose commit to it.
      Don't try to build a bit of everything like I do at times under pressure lol.
      As for timing whether you go monk or camels you probs wanna start getting some numbers early castle would be the best bet.
