- No video for this song has surfaced yet, so being one of my favorite songs ever, I did it as a tribute. I use footage previously uploaded to you tube in which Gene is singing Blue Jean Bop & Sexy Ways RAI 1960.

Damm what a guitar player
Cliff freaking Gallup, the guy was a savage. Pretty much invented the rockabilly sound
Simply amazing. Gallup was so far ahead of his time.
iF I HAD A RACE WITH HER, AS YOUNG AS SHE IS AND AS old AS i AM i WOULD STILL WIN. A ZOMMER BUT ALL SHE DOES IS ZOOM IN PLACE ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND SHE GOES NOWHERE!
gene is the best of the rest , i am fan since 4 years old , i am from 1956
Excellent Gene Vincent the best ahead of his time
That is one of the best playing I ever heard, top 10
My wife still has this record of Gene Vincent flip side is Going to back up baby ,I am surprised that you can still hers the words considering she bought it in the mid 50s.
Gene and Eddie cochran best rockabilly EVER.
"Punk Rocker" before it was called "Punk Rock." Brother James 🙏
Just read an interview with Jeff Beck, calling Race with the Devil one of the top 3 guitar solos. When you consider the timeframe (even now), Gallup really was an amazing player.
What were the other 2 guitar solos?
@@borkoff7835 Sorry to keep you hanging, I should have dded that. Here's the artile
rockandrollgarage.com/jeff-beck-and-his-3-favorite-guitar-solos-of-all-time/
He invented the thing.
It's a great contender for sure. That lick in the first solo has been borrowed by other players 100s of times since
Gallup rules !! And Gene.
Wahoooou !!! Ils sont génial belle music 😍🥰🥰❤❤❤❤💯💯💯💋✌
This guitar -guy is awesome
Cliff Gallup. Legendary rockabilly guitarrist
I beleive Gallup was a electrician in his working life.
If its not cliff ,then he died young falling down some stairs.
These cats are great! 😎
There is just nothing today that can in any way compare to this and other greats. We are lucky there is still audio and video for a lot of songs. Those times went by and away like lightening. I'm clinging to shadows now
100% за,очень верно замечено.Времена были о'кей!
This is the real deal. 🔥
Idolo
Cliff Gallup,Gene's lead guitar player, would have been 88 today. One of the best rockabilly guitar players ever, even tho he was only with Gene for a short time.Back when i was a kid we idolized Gene[R.I.P.].From 1956.
I just love that old arch top guitar sound with the reverb and effects of that time
Actually I don"t think that is Cliff Gallup on screen, but it certainly is on the soundtrack. The on screen " mimer " might be Joe Moretti ,an absolutely superb player who later emigrated to South Africa.Died in 2003.
I came here to look up Cliff Gallup because of a post on "Gretsch Fans" Facebook page. The cat can really go!
@@CoconutDreams123 I don't think there is any video footage of cliff Gallup playing with gene
there are some photos.
even gene in " girl can't help it "
movie songs be bop a Lula but that is not cliff in the movie. it is Russell Wiliford. even though cliff played lead guitar on the recording.
Yes We did too. Teenager in Miami in '50's
Just discovered his recording
Brilliant
😇 At his incomprehensible best 😇

I saw him live in woolwich in 1960 .Sitting with me and some other buddies was a young guy named Albert Lee.
かっこいい!
Gene !!!! fantastic !!!
Eine meiner ersten Platten (45 U/min ) die ich 1957 gekauft habe ... 4.-DM ... verdammt viel Geld damals !!!
Gene and the B.Cs are BEST!
Gene Vincent god bless you
Rock n roll right there . period.
Excellents chorus guitares..
magique !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grossartig !! 😍
Gene vincent super rockabilly
Gene came to my publishing office back in the late sixties and I got to meet him. For some reason I remember him having some kind of problem with his leg? Defenite Cool Cat !
I think his leg prob was due to a motorcycle crash.
he had polio when he was younger plus damage when in the car with Eddie Cochran
@@davidshenton5616 Gene got his leg crushed in a motorcycle accident when he was in the Navy, before he got into music. He had to wear a leg brace the rest of his life. The accident he had with Eddie Cochran only made his leg worse.
Did he not get his leg hurt in the car crash with Eddie Cochrane ?
thanks
Blue Jean Bop this clip is from, from Italian T.V. with Race with the Devil ovedubbed.
Sorprendente y ecxelente
Guy had the coolest image.
Yep. I want those same BLACK LEATHERS for myself! The whole complete HEAD-TO-TOE BLACK LEATHER CLADDED look. Yep.
And then, I would be ready to sing a few bars.... cover up ur ears people... lol.
@Dan Didnot - LOL! I heard Gene use to walk on stage using crutches
Great editing. This is one of my favourite rock n roll songs ever and it bummed me out that there's no video of it. Nice job.
Well done video sub'ing for one of my favorite GV records! Cliff Gallup on this record really shows his talent. Too bad he left the group so early.
I think the guitar player, miming playing ,is Joe Moretti, and English, superb player. It is Cliff and Gene and the Blue Caps on the soundtrack, not on screen.
Cliff was really a good guitar player before all of this he was in my grandfather's band check out the song by Willie Phelps yes siree and DJ jamboree Cliff was the guitar player on both songs amazing ,Cliff grew up in South Norfolk Virginia and Gene Vincent in craddock over in Portsmouth va about a mile away from each other my granddad was with the Phelps Brothers back in the 1930s and 40s and 50s and they were really popular and they went to Hollywood and made movies and when they came back they got local boy cliff to join them. I have some reel to reel tapes from them sessions in the 50s and 60s from fernwood farms studios in South Norfolk Virginia with cliff on the guitar
Thanks for posting .Cliff Gallup ........
Ohhhh merciiiii love this zoweeeeeee
Brilliant.
Le très grand Gene Vincent
Skillfully done! Really very close match-up in many spots. I think this song was the first or second ever recorded by Gene and Cliff Gallup.
Jim Hoerr Thanks a lot for your comments!
nice job!
F*ing brilliant!
Gracias Ulises por este tesoro!
Thanks for the info! :o)
Blue jean bop
Ухх ,как понравилось!
Да, "фанера" приходит и уходит, а оригинальная классика остается навсегда...
on jurerait qu'il chante race with the devil;beau travail synchro
For years and years I've always wondered what the lyrics are that Gene sings on the early rockabilly classic so here they are .........
Well I've led an evil life, so they say
But I'll out run the devil on judgement day, I said
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move hot-rod, move me on down the the line, oh yeah!
Well me and the devil, at a stop light
He started rollin', I was out of sight, I said
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move hot-rod, move me on down the the line, oh yeah!
Well, goin' pretty fast, looked behind
A-hear come the the devil doin' ninety-nine, I said
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move hot-rod, move me on down the the line, oh yeah! (Let's drag now)
Well thought I was smart, the race was won
A-hear come the devil doin' a-hundred and one
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move hot-rod, move me on down the the line (Let's drag again)
Well, goin' pretty fast, looked behind
A-hear come the the devil doin' ninety-nine, I said
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move hot-rod, move me on down the the line, oh yeah!
Well I've led an evil life, so they say
But I'll hide from the devil on judgement day, I said
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move, hot-rod, move man!
Move hot-rod, move me on down the the line.
The flip side to this cut is "Gonna Back Up Baby" which is just as good or better which is saying a lot. Gene Vincent is the most under rated 50's R&R singer. Judy Garland his version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was the best she ever heard!
Digging Gene Vincent's axe man Cliff Gallup- go cat go...
Donnie Maxwell that ain’t cliff Gallup in the video. I have yet to Gallup play with GV.
Axe man ?
@@rc1564 he got the name from throwing a axe at some guy on Halloween 😂
Cliff Gallop is not featured on this screen video.
I love this more than Be Bop A lula, More Rock energy!! Yea!
GO GENE ...

Fark yeah!
Great sounds the mad monk is back one cool dude
gracias a ti por verlo amigo!
C'est grâce à lui que je suis devenu un loubard!
emision T.V. pour la R A I en Italie en juillet 1960;bonne syncro de Blue Jean Bop
EddieParker USA now that’s what I call real music
I feel sorry for 3 people who just dont know.
They are all Kanye West, who feels he and Beyonce are more important than this.
+screwyootube1 If they are, they are deluded fucks. Cant see Kanye being on anyone's playlist in 60 years time
+Steve O You're too generous... If he is STILL in the public eye (scandals where he's going down, like O.J., notwithstanding) 5 years from now, I will be shocked. Of course, HE will always be his own biggest fan.
He's like Terence Trent D'Arby. Remember him? He told us his new album was "better than Sgt. Pepper!" Yeah, I don't remember him either. :)
screwyootube1 Too, too much. Just enjoy Gene , bro.
He could be still alive. I'm so angry
This was basically big band Jazz without the big band. Great song!
That's what rockabilly IS.
@@142horizon That is what is was. But will agian be.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
They are like Led Zeppelin from the 50's...
Great band & players...
I'm not a big Elvis fan but Gene sounded like him. Lol
“Race with the Devil” was the very first recording for Capitol. With its references to the “devil” and its almost inaudible lyrics, the release got little air-play from american dj´s who thought the song was inappropriate for the teenage market.
Back in those days, some people read too much into the image. It was all part of being creative.
Some people associated BLACK LEATHERS with rock 'n roll, sex, weed and booze. The wild rebel with low IQ. So what? To each their own!
the sound track to burning rubber and black leather
Sounds like The Cramps!! (or the other way around)
The guitarist featured in the video looks like Joe Moretti rather than Cliff Gallup. However, Joe Moretti was quite capable of playing this brilliant guitar solo, and probably did when he backed Gene Vincent. Just like Cliff Gallup, he didn't get the credit for his playing that he so rightly deserved at that time. Only later was it realised what great guitarists they both were.
Joe died relatively young, when he fell down some stairs.
fuckin cliff gallup...so rad.
What kind of amp is that Cliff Gallup is using?
👍👧👍
I wonder if Blue Caps was first ever rock `n`roll band?
Gene miming on French TV to the original record, the group are not the Bluecaps.
GENE VINCENT!!💕🌹💋😊💦
Wow! Clifton E. Gallup! ☆♡😃🌺 ヅ ♡ ♪♫

Cliff Gallup is not playing here.
😘😘😘😘🤪🤪🤪😍😍😘😘😘
MAGNIFICOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Protopunk!
He has a gammy leg.
cliff gallup is the fuckin man.
The guitar really slaps. But where is the lead singer looking?
Era muy sexy 😉😆😎😛
Is there a reason the mic stand is so low?
Can't tell if Joe Moretti is playing lead or miming?
Il joue vraiment mais c'est "blue jean bop"
He couldn't afford the top part of the mic stand.
he moved like he did because a motorcycle accident left him in pain and with a limp..and a steel sheath on his leg
This is the original version, with Cliff Gallup on guitar.
Is that not Joe Moretti on guitar?
