  • Hope you guys enjoyed today’s video. I explain how to acquaint your tortoises to the taste and flavor of hay. Often times tortoises are not raised up on hay, end it is important for them to eat it at an early age. This goes for Tortoises that are grassland species, like sulcataTortoises, that require a high fiber diet!So I hope you guys enjoyed today’s video. Just wondering if hermann's tortoises should also be eating timothy hay? I got some for mine and he shows no interest so I was going to try your method and if it doesn't get him eating it I saw another one where he soaks it to rehydrate it and mixes it with the other food. Just so confusing because I find some websites saying one thing and another contradicts it. Same with feeding fruit. But fruit I've been told now to never give any unless its a tiny amount of cantaloupe once in a blue moon.

Hi! Is there a specific brand for the hays you get? Where do you buy your hay?

From our research Timothy Hay is very good for Sulcata Tortoises.

does a russian tortoise can eat alfalfa hay?
    (new sub!)

I wouldn’t feed alfalfa hay cause it’s very high in protein , but orchard grass or Timothy hay is amazing ! We want to feed high fiber things that those hays provide . If you can’t find either one , an alfalfa Timothy hay 50/50 mix works as wel.

@@ReadyReptiles I was actually just going for the hay timothy (not the alfalfa one), thanks for the recommendation!
