Just want to say thank you for your music, Drayton. The past 13 months have been a heck of a time for me, but your music has been a godsend to keep me moving forward. Thank you for keepin' this poor man above ground to see another beautiful day. Much love, brother.
Listen to tons of country non top 40 and Americana music. To me Drayton Farley is the fastest rising one in the whole genre. His vocals are some of the best in all of music and he’s definitely a top 5 artist lyrically in the genre as well. Comparing him to anyone else is insulting. He is his own man and I believe over time will surpass some of the “darlings” in the genre. Yes the 400 Unit was kind enough to back him on this album but soon he won’t have any problem getting some of the best musicians around to permanently back him on future albums.
The production sounds great, looking forward to the hearing the entire album. It’s been fun to watch your popularity grow over the last couple years and to now get a full studio album. Wishing you continued success, you deserve it.
Drayton, you’re doing a hell of a job. When Brett first told me about you I was curious and then I listened to one song…American Dream and I was sold and said we gotta follow this guy where ever he goes!!! Keep on keeping on!
So good! Got hooked on Pitchin' Fits last year and cant put down your music. One of the few artists where their songs completely hit me right in the feels. Fantastic, please keep it up!
The days are all long and the years they're short Homes down South, I'm stuck up North Working on a living for the family Wishing I could give them all a fantasy The times are all tough and the works real hard I've been pulling doubles in the Norfolk yard Trying to find a way away from it all Waiting for the day the curtain may fall It's all the way it's always been Work all day until the days all spent Can't afford to break so you always bend It's all the way it's always been It's back and forth and back again It's all the way it's always been They say the futures looking bleak, well, so am I Try to catch a little sleep in the middle of the night Catch a little glimpse of the good old days Wondering why I ever let 'em slip away Money ain't much for a beat up heart I've been pulling hair out in the Norfolk yard Under the gun and I'm over it all Waiting for the day I'll get a better call It's all the way it's always been Work all day until the days all spent Can't afford to break so you always bend It's all the way it's always been It's back and forth and back again It's all the way it's always been The days are all long and the years they're short Homes down South, I'm stuck up North Working on a living for the family Wishing I could give them all a fantasy It's all the way it's always been Work all day until the days all spent Can't afford to break so you always bend It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been It's all the way it's always been
It did the same to me initially. Gave me vibes of when Bon Jovi tried to put out that country record. After I realized that the production was to maximize radio play and exposure, I started to “get it” somewhat.
Great song. That said, while Norfolk is obviously north of Alabama, to refer to it as "up north" is weird. That would be like saying "I'm heading out west" in reference to Kentucky. Sure, Kentucky is west of the east coast but it's not "out west" in the classic sense. "Up north" refers to *the north* (i.e. DC and up), not just a point north of some other point. Just like "down south" shouldn't refer to New Jersey just because the narrator is in Maine. North and south are not just directions but geographic regions. Norfolk is 20 minutes from the NC border. Is NC "up north"? I know there's a big difference between the upper south and the deep south but VA is still in the south.
Before anything all my respect goes into the military, but I think he’s talking about working on the railroad not norfolk va. I work on the railroad and you get good money but you miss everything. Your kids birthdays, your kids games. Which in that aspect you are poor. I think that’s what he’s getting at.
Look at my baby boy💙💙💙💙💙
My brother just showed me his music. We are 2 big fans from Maine. Keep Rockin' Drayton. I get Tyler Childers vibes.
I'm here for the music but as a Mom I feel you every time I see you comment. There is no greater love than a Mom for her babies ♥️
Your son has a God given gift. Amazing talent

The days are all long and the years they're short
Homes down South, I'm stuck up North
Working on a living for the family
Wishing I could give them all a fantasy
The times are all tough and the works real hard
I've been pulling doubles in the Norfolk yard
Trying to find a way away from it all
Waiting for the day the curtain may fall
It's all the way it's always been
Work all day until the days all spent
Can't afford to break so you always bend
It's all the way it's always been
It's back and forth and back again
It's all the way it's always been
They say the futures looking bleak, well, so am I
Try to catch a little sleep in the middle of the night
Catch a little glimpse of the good old days
Wondering why I ever let 'em slip away
Money ain't much for a beat up heart
I've been pulling hair out in the Norfolk yard
Under the gun and I'm over it all
Waiting for the day I'll get a better call
It's all the way it's always been
Work all day until the days all spent
Can't afford to break so you always bend
It's all the way it's always been
It's back and forth and back again
It's all the way it's always been
The days are all long and the years they're short
Homes down South, I'm stuck up North
Working on a living for the family
Wishing I could give them all a fantasy
It's all the way it's always been
Work all day until the days all spent
Can't afford to break so you always bend
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
It's all the way it's always been
Wish I had a job right now to support you & purchase the vinyl. This song is awesome. Can't wait to hear the whole album 🤘🤘
And that's how you live this Bullshit American Dream! Can't wait for the album to drop.
WOW
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾👍🏾
This is fucking different. But definitely shows the range of draytons vocals. Fucking tallented guy.
Keep going bro. It's Dustin from highscool
This hit different when you're from Ohio after the train crash.
You know who you are
I live in norfolk! 😂
Pretty damn good brother.. let’s jam sometime
its growing on me but the amount of production here vs previous rawness is jarring. went from 6.9-100. chill sadler

I’m a shipbuilder here in Norfolk. Definitely not the North
I thought the same. I guess relative to Alabama Norfolk is "up North" though.
@@JosephsCoatinda figured he was talking about a norfolk & southern rail yard. makes sense when he says back and forth and back again.
what norfolk you talkin bout if va you anint poor if you work in th yard dont pretend your pore military around you are pore
BS! I’ve been in the military and a shipbuilder in Norfolk. There ain’t no money in shipbuilding. You can make a great career in the military though
Before anything all my respect goes into the military, but I think he’s talking about working on the railroad not norfolk va. I work on the railroad and you get good money but you miss everything. @@chasestraub1686 lol blue collar folks in Norfolk work at the shipyard. No one’s talking about Norfolk Southern
