Hindsight is 20-20 as they say! I wasn't anticipating a death so soon and fully expected to battle through the Aporkalypse so preparing for a potential wipe was not on the mind!
I've had some horrible deaths in shipwrecked mostly in dry. 1) I was riding on my armored boat under 300 durability and got hit by an eruption and got hit by one. 2) I let the water beefalos kill the sealnado and when he died, I went to kill him and instead of hitting the seal, I hit the water beefalos by accident because I was playing on play station and they sunk my cargo boat
That's the ancient Herald beard he summons poison frogs and nightmare creatures also if you want to know how to stop it get some gunpowder go to the ruin in the poison rainforest make sure you have a gas mask go through the ruin until you end up on the 5th Island go into the 5th Island ruin try and find the room that holds the aporkalypse calendar step on one of the pressure plates it will spin if all of them a line up the aporkalypse starts Try and get enough eggs on day 1 I love watching you nearly die and also dying and also suffering also you learning new things to become a big brain of don't starve Also the Tier 2 trees normally drop eggs for me I've heard 1 nettle roll is 720 seconds
Wagstaff is really good too if you're sort of a beginner to Hamlet i think, since you don't need a magnifying glass at all, just his spectoggles (and his Telebrella stuff can make shortcuts between islands)
If you have a natural jungle biome that's connected to water (like you had in this save) you can just plant the nettles there. I mean, sure you might have to walk a little further depending on where that spot is, but you don't have to craft your own turf
There's a space issue though too. Trust me, I thought about it but I wasn't going to be able to make a efficient farm due to limited space within the jungles.
When playing Wilba you should start by transforming, since its a easy way to explore , dig grass, twigs and cut wood (and maybe steal from the fountain). Before the Aporkalypse you need to have explored the ruin (since i believe it gets alot harder) and get 20 blow darts for easy harbringer kill (Disarm traps).
Beard remember to keep the sprinklers fueled because after the nettles are not exposed to water for a short period of time they will dry up and the process has to be restarted again (note they take 3 game days to bloom) it would be op if you played as wickerbottom bc with her book they will grow instantly

During appcalypse the super boss of hamlet, the ancient herald, spawns. He drops a recipe for a special cloak and is stupid hard to fight. He spawns massive rings of frogs and nightmare creatures so you in a lot of doodoo if you challenge it.
You could've gone to the food/vegetable shop (idk which one but one of them) and buy 2 rotten eggs, if you didn't already buy the eggs when they were fresh you could buy them now while they are rotten. (the food in the shelves of the stores will rot after some time) Also, you already had a magnifying glass so you would only need about 3-4 gunpowder to find the clock.
Yeah I try to rush the herald ruins on day 30 or so at the latest so I have enough time to get more rotten eggs if I crap out and use all my gunpowder and don't find the calendar
Aw, I guess the absolute panic Aporkalypse is will have to wait until some other world. Honestly the event itself is pretty cheap and in my opinion not worth it at all, but it's fun to tackle it at least once just to get that extra motivational "HELL no" when you're procrastinating the preparations/exploration and remember it. Ah, from my experience the calendar ruins are always in a different deep rainforest in that herald island, probably surrounded by snaptooth plants too. So when exploring and you get to the island, you can run until you're outside the forest, then look for the next one. The island looks quite nice usually, being all wild life.
Heartbreaking but that's just how Don't Starve goes :'( I've been playing Shipwrecked and I keep dying stupid deaths. Well, look forward to you restarting Hamlet
@@josephedwards9102 yes, but in humid season the pith hat and cowl are the ways to avoid being affected by the fog, so the shamlet mask is kind of tricky in this stage,even in lush season when u need the gas mask in case u don't get nettles
You could go to the weapon shop to get the coconade but i think you can't buy it during apocalypse but Hey! You could do that on your next play through

Small tip for you, things rot faster on the ground than in a chest. And even faster still when wet.

I'm curious as to if you could build a guide of regular DST with perma night.

FYI you can buy 4 eggs on the first island guaranteed for 1 oinc each (they do spoil too so you could’ve bought 4 rotten eggs easily)

A sprinkler can be about three tiles away
What mods are you using? and are they working in DST too?
You can't Place sprinkler anyway if it is too Far Away from water
you need to find the calendar because the apockalpse never ends unless you use the calendar
I would love to see you do a hamlet run as Wormwood but seeing Wilba again would be neat too.

I think you can buy rotten eggs in one of the shops in the Hamlet.
That actually just the eggs in the store rotting, that why sometimes you also find rot in stores

Play as Maxwell! The sigle player Maxwell sanity regen makes him pretty much imune to the penalty of sneezing/wearing a gas mask.
Even tho this is old not wearing a gas masks drains health
the max range of the sprinkler is 5 tiles away from the pond
