Have a great day everyone!
We don't want to see you watch Boba Fett; you deserve better than that.
Watch Banshee dude.
There is a sequel series happening rn, And it’s peacemaker and it’s amazing already 4 episodes in
Check out the Peacemaker series on HBO max
If you want to see the Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison in the roll that got him worldwide recognition, then watch, Once Were Warriors.
"Nobody likes a showoff, unless what they're showing off is dope as fuck"
Truth!
@@JamesVSCinema amazing scene
"Fuck! That's true."
fun fact, the doctor in the beginning that injects the bomb into Savant's head, thats John Ostrander, the man who created the Suicide Squad title back in the 70s (or many early 80s, dates always mess me up). There is a LOT in the film for fans of the comics, and since Suicide Squad has been my all time favorite DC title. i enjoyed this movie quite a lot.
He also wrote the best dark horse star wars comics
Late 80s but yeah it’s dope
James YOU are a superhero, excited to watch!
What's up Brandon I loved your reaction on this movie as well both you guys are awesome.
AYYY! Big brotha Brandon! Hahaha much love to you man. I get to finally watch your video now too!
Ay two of my favourite channels!
I love the fact that you guys support each other as a fan and supporter it's cool to see

I love how peacemaker, in the moment he kills flag, feels some kind of conflict, cause he respects Flag so much, but his morals is what drives him. John Cena surprised me in this role.
Best part of that was the reference that most people didn't get. Flag's last words 'Peacemaker: what a joke.' Since Peacemaker was originally going to be in the Watchmen, but since they couldn't get the rights to the character, he was changed to be The Comedian instead.
The Peacemaker show is a must-watch after this. It fleshes out this character immensely
W my fav cb show
It’s great that because the suicide squad can have different members, this can literally not just be a reboot but a sequel to the original movie. It’s like they’ve redone it but said, look, this is simply a new squad with a new mission and what happened previously doesn’t matter even if it is a reboot or remake or whatever. Having the original members of the squad being portrayed by the same actors reinforces this too. Good move.
Still made me sad they killed off Captain Boomerang.
useless fun fact: one of the rats that plays Sebastian in the film is named Crisp Ratt.
the Peacemaker series is even more surprising than the movie in all honesty. quite a feat in pulling off what they've even able to do so far.
That has definitely caught my interest!
I don't think Peacemaker is better than Suicide Squad, it is as good though, or at least close enough. Going film to tv isn't that hard, James Gunn was actively involved as a Producer. You can tell it was his baby, like The Mandalorian was Jon Favreau's. He even directed, at least an episode, probably more. It's a great show, does the movie proud, but doesn't exceed it to me. It's as good as the Disney + stuff, which is high praise.
The Peacemaker show is definitely worth a watch. They kind of start to redeem the character.
CRISP RATT LMAOOOO
The moment where Rat-catcher 2.0 saves the day is cheff's kiss.
Rat Catcher 2.0 was absolutely fire
One of the best endings to a superhero film. Super emotional and visually stunning.
One of my favorite parts of this movie was when after Ratcatcher flooded the city with rat's she has a flashback of her and her father were he says the lines "Rats are the lowliest and most despised of all creatures, my love. If they have a purpose, so do we. Which is such a fiting line for the Suicide Squad were there criminals despised by everyone and now finally finding a purpose and becoming a hero for once. I honestly loved this movie so much James Gunn is just really good at making Characters like the gaurdians of the galaxy which are characters no one knew about actual characters and have personality. An honestly he's doin it again with the Peacemaker show giving Peacemaker so much more character than ever before.
That’s so awesome wow. Just realizing this!
fun fact the "8 minutes earlier" sequence is exactly 8 minutes long
This movie has definitely grown on me over rewatch, I Thought it was good when I saw it in theaters, but definitely loved it more upon rewatch on HBO Max. I Think the most impressive thing Gunn does is making me care about somebody whose main power is controlling rats. I would die for Sebastian. Excited to watch and hear your thoughts on it!
Yeah, there’s some really good STUFF happening even outside of the performances and looking into the camera work and cosmetics! Even vfx!
@@JamesVSCinema Agreed, really creative storytelling from Gunn too. The crazy thing about the VFX is it didn’t even get shortlisted at the Oscar’s.. 🤯
Gunn also has a talent for taking characters that most writers / directors wouldn't touch, and make them interesting to the audience. He has also shown he can manage a fairly large ensemble cast, starting with Guardian's to here, and actually give every character meaning and some depth, which a lot of other movies fail at.

Slyvester Stallone as King Shark is the casting choice we didn't think we needed.
The perfect Groot fr DC. And I mean that in a great way.

The "Peacemaker" series is making me view "The Suicide Squad" with better context. Worth a watch, imo.
THIS is what the Suicide Squad movie from 2016 should have been, instead what we got was a convuluted nightmare!
Hahahaha I agree
The Detachable Kid part was probably the funniest bit of the movie IMO. I love how useless they made him. It makes sense too, obviously a floating arm wouldn't do any damage without the weight and momentum of a human body attached to it.
Though in the comics his main superpower is that he *does* retain full strength and momentum in his detachable parts. Except that's still the strength of a *normal* human being. Not exactly powerful.
Bro I was like…..”Damn he really does detaches”
@@JamesVSCinema Oh shit, the man himself! Thanks for the heart bud ♥️ The part where they start shooting his arms and it cuts to him on the floor screaming had me in stitches 😂 Was nice to see you enjoy this one. James Gunn definitely brought the right spirit to this movie and you can feel the experience from Guardians coming through. The content and positive vibes are appreciated man keep doing your thing! PS You gonna do Dune part 1 anytime soon? 🙏
@@snorpenbass4196 That's cool that they thought about it to that level. I still like it better when it's just a useless 5 pound floating arm though 😜
@@JamesVSCinema in case you didn’t see who played DTK it was Nathan Fillion
I loved this movie and the peacemaker show is surprisingly good as well.
Regarding Ayer's Suicide Squad, Imagine having your movie taken away from you and having an editing house, who's never done a movie before, use the worse shots/takes of your film and completely reorder the movie you made. Ayer's vision for his movie was much better then what was actually shown and i hope he's able to show it one day. #releasetheayercut
As far as Harley goes, she goes all out in Birds of Prey. No matter what anyone thinks of the movie (which i think its a fun ride) she's great and the fight choreography done by the master himself, Chad Stahlenski (director of the John Wick movies) is also fantastic.
Oh man, if you love Peacemaker I'm sure you're gonna LOVE the Peacemaker show.
"Is it gonna be a reboot? Is it gonna be a sequel?"
Yes.
The characters, the music, the cinematography, even the color palate-- this is SOOO much better than the first one.
Gunn has a way of writing misfit characters who have some redeeming qualities. They could be horrible people (watch his film Super) who have their hearts in the right place, but there is something about the underdog mentality he writes that is special.
There are many amazing subtle moments in this movie that deepen the characters:
Rick Flag went from being a "Sir, yes sir" soldier to someone who was willing defy orders from his superiors because he morally disagreed (leaking the info, going back for Harley).
Harley Quinn learned she has friends in Flag and is actually able to see through the changes that she needs to make in herself.
Bloodsport saw himself as a protector for Ratcatcher, because he felt sympathy that her father loved her so much, yet left her so young. In turn, Ratatcher, the way she puts her arm over Bloodsport to comfort him as the swarm of rats rush over them... subtle yet meaningful. Also, they both keep their word to eachother... they got eachother out of there alive.
Peacemaker... man... biggest asshole ever, but there is a tragic nature to him. You can tell he didn't want to kill Flag, it was either he did it or died. Even when he tells Ratcatcher "I'm thorough.", you can hear his voice break and he looks regretful when he says he is sorry. Then being shot by Bloodsport, the look on his face isn't that he got shot and may die, it is that about questioning was his way worth it?
Is it a perfect movie? No. Is it a fun movie? Yes.
Last month I finally got, "That's where we are now, right? We're in-between the panels?" tattooed! I freaking LOVE Super!!
There’s a little detail that I like, Ratcatcher 2 refers to Rick Flagg as Colonel Flagg, I have family that works in Government and military, the most respectful way that a non family member could refer to a member of the armed forces is by recognizing their rank. So Col. Flagg is the respectful way to address him. Especially a fallen soldier.
I never bought that Harley Quinn could stand toe to toe with a sniper assassin, a crocodile man, or a flame elemental in the first one. But in this one? She’s tearing it up! She’s infiltrating the top brass, she’s getting into gun fights, she’s straight up kicking ass. This movie made me understand Harley Quinn’s character.
Cared more about the CGI rat and shark in this movie than all the live action characters in the first movie combined. Sebastian and Nanaue for life! 😍
"2016's Academy Award winning Suicide Squad" hurts to say. 😅
You know, i expected everyone to really bash the first Suicide Squad film in this comment section. But i was pleasantly surprised that no, it's all fairly respectful. Everyone likes to clown on it, but it all seems to be in good humor.
I'm actually in the minority of the crew that unironically enjoyed that film. But then again, I also love pineapple/ham pizza. So, my tastes obviously stray in some ways from the general public
Bird 🐦
More than Rat Catcher 2?! She’s literally the heart of the entire film!
This film is the definition of violent, gory fun. The cast is great, the effects are awesome, the comedy is awesome, and the story is interesting. Also, the direction and editing is so much fun.
W my fav cbm
The character of Amanda Wller is just savage. She was always a sociopath in the Justice League Unlimited animation, but this takes it to a new level.
This was my favorite film of last year. I love how it embraces how bats*** crazy it is and how fun it is. It knows what it is and it has the best use of Harley Quinn. Also that soundtrack was awesome!!
Love this movie! James Gunn has a great visual style and he's also just great at making entertaining action movies with heart. If you like different kind of comic book movies you should react to the X-Men movies, some of them are truely great and much different from comic book movies today
Dude is beastly with the formula
James Gunn did an awesome job with this movie (first DC movie that I was willing to buy). Great reaction as always.
You noticed that Bloodsport took down Peacemaker by shooting the center of his bullet with a smaller bullet, which was a nice callback to when they first met.
Harley's monologue about red flags after shooting the president is one of my favorite scenes from her in all films. We love character growth and empowerment.
James Gunn is a genius with the controlled chaos vibe. He just gets how to inject story into otherwise meaningless action. He is a genius with camera motion too. He was a very smart decision to make this.
If you think Ratcatcher's power is weirdly specific but frighteningly op, you should see the shit they pull in Jojo.
You should definitely check out the peacemaker show its right up your alley.
Little fun fact: You can see the full moon on the back during the Weasel end credits scene, which is most certainly a continuation of the "The Weasel is a werewolf" joke from the beggining.

“Mine are bigger than yours”
-Bruce Wayne to Amanda Waller
Starro’s death was so sad because it was the right thing to do but it could have been prevented if the astronauts had left him alone. One minute he’s floating and minding his own business the next he’s being captured and tortured for decades.
I always felt with the first one, you could just smell the studio interference. It felt like all creative control was taken away from the director. And it seems like the studio learned their lesson, finally. And I think the success of “Logan” and “Deadpool” helped show that there was a definite audience for R rated “comic book movies” and it allowed this film the freedom to be what the first one could not. It’s good when studios trust their creators and I’m happy to see more directors besides just Nolan and Villenueve get the freedom to create actual enjoyable epic experiences.
Now that this is in the bag it'd be great to start following the Peacemaker series. It's shaping up to be Doom Patrol levels of good.
I had absolutely no interest in the previous Suicide Squad movie (and I'm a comics person, or used to be before it took over all of media and burned me out), but the fact that James Gunn was involved in this got me curious. And the movie was undoubtedly a pleasant surprise.
Agreed. We’ll executed on this one which makes me happy because only good can come from this!
17:28 - One of the greatest split-second character moments: Harley cracking her neck before wasting the guards. 😂
18:00 - This guy. How many bodies have to litter the floor around you before saying, "Nope. I'm out." Only time I can recall seeing a guard do that was "Iron Man 3."
19:34 - The demonstration of strength from King Shark here is insane. Human bodies can survive an incredible amount of abuse. (Note: I didn't specify people being alive after said abuse.) And he tears the guy in half! That's not only crazy, but informative into how strong K.S. is.
20:08 - No one was. 😉
21:10 - This helps my point for the 19:34 mark. Starro, as large and powerful as he is, is only capable of tearing Thinker's limbs off. King Shark... Guy torn in half. CRAZY!
23:35 - Only in a comic book movie. It's actually kind of funny, because nitpickers will say, "That would never happen." And they're right... for a movie depicting realize. Superhero movies don't depict realism, so calm down.
27:14 - And after commenting about nitpickers... Eyes are normally filled with vitreous gel, not water. I know this because my not-normal eye is filled with water, and it sucks. (Probably why I nitpicked.)
Corridor Crew actually did a video showing how they did the helmet fight scene. Its pretty cool
I like some of the little details in the background, like right after Harley escapes the jail and she is walking out of the building, you can still see that flower laced delusion down the hallway and the song is still playing very quietly like she is is far from the source.
James Gunn has an impressively weird filmography, all of which has led to his style. Loved the scene change titles as background thing, which is REALLY damn common in DC comic books. Check out the Peacemaker series... it's amazing.
“Downright absolutely hot-garbage doodoo.”
Only James could say something like that 🦾🦾
😂😂😂
In the scene where Harley escapes the prison Margot Robbie actually physically unlocked her restraints with only feet. It's crazy how acrobatic she is
Yessss! Been waiting for this one thank you so much!!
Anytime!!
Freaking loved this film and i’m loving the Peacemaker spin off show right now!
You're gonna love Peacemaker the tv show:)
Peacemaker is def a must next
Oh my god I literaly just watched the movie like the 3rd time and now you post this. Hell yes
The almost-ahame of the scene where Harley gets out of her shackles is that that's legitimately Margot Robbie in that whole shot, getting the keys AND unlocking the shackles with her feet. But you can't tell because her dress gets in the way of her face, which they didn't realise until after the shot was done
Homie, it makes me so happy to see your patreon list go so far into the video. Love seeing you grow and thrive. This movie was such a blast to watch.
Thank you bro. Had to get to the point where I had speed them up because they were blocking some subtitles! haha, very grateful
@@JamesVSCinema you should be my man. You’re doing great shit. So proud of you.
I was excited to see your reaction to the helmet reflection shot, such a cool blending of cinematography and VFX!
you don't know how long i've been waiting for this!
This movie is great on the surface but there's many little easter eggs and cameosplanted throughout that you have to know the history of the filmaker or the comics or just the MCU to catch. Lloyd Kaufman in the club for instance, almost no one seems to notice that one.
Bruh, you're gonna love the Peacemaker show.
Javelin is played by Flula Borg, who gives one of my all time favorite performances in Centaurworld as the character "Comfortable Doug".
Also "Ratism" makes me tear up every time.
When you know James Gunn started out at Troma films nothing is a surprise
Always hyped to see a new reaction from you. Keep killin it ✊🏻
Ayyyy love ya Brian!
@@JamesVSCinema you just made my day, sir. I don't have your Patreon yet, but you should check out another piece of James Gunn nuttiness... SUPER.
That's an interesting point you make there. Most big studios think that fun superhero movies are boring movies and they don't attract audiences but they forget that fun audiences come to see movies first to be entertained before anything else... If a movie is just barely interesting but overly entertaining i.e a fun time, it will still resonate with audiences because it doesn't seek to take itself seriously. If a movie however fails at being entertaining then it has to try hard at other aspects in order to make up for its lack of entertainment
You got it. 💯
Some of the best comic book movies were directed by people who started out making low-budget horror movies: James Gunn, Sam Raimi, Zack Snyder, Tim Burton... It should be a prerequisite for whoever adapts the next comic book property.
There's also ponysmasher
If you liked this and you liked Peacemaker's character you definitely got to check out the show. It's dope. Also by James Gunn. You'll love it

Definitely intrigued now!
Glad you enjoyed this film! Hope to see you tackle the Peacemaker show at some point ❤️
Hearing how much you enjoy Peacemakers character you gotta book yo a$$ over to HBO and check out his new series... EASILY THE BEST THING ON TV OR MOVIE SCREEN at the moment. I'm sure many people will tell you the same but... it really is a ridiculously goo show!
you outta check out Slither (2006) - Gunn's directorial debut and a film that's pretty much defined his whole career
Great movie, and as much of an improvement over the first one as Peacemaker is over this (which was equal parts totally surprising and very impressive).
James Gunn is definitely one of my favourite filmmakers these days.
Peacemaker is literally the US foreign policy: the guy
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Wow what a coincidence just watched it myself for the first time last night. What an enjoyable and fun movie experience. Night and day compared to the other one.
You should watch the animated Harley Quinn series. It's more of this kind of humor but it tells a really good story of Harley discovering who she is without the Joker holding her back.
Marvel has a character named Squirrel Girl who has powers close to the Rat girl. In one of the Thanos time lines, she solo kills Thanos.
sickkkk!!!! can’t wait for you to watch the peacemaker show, if you decide to get into it
When Harley shoots dude in the chest, I legit almost died laughing. This is probably my favorite Superhero movie ever. I loved every character.
hey james, wondering if you could include more of your thoughts on the directors and production before jumping into the movie, perhaps take note of a particular director's tone and direction style in previous films and that we can explore as the film progresses. thanks love your stuff so far.
Thank you, James!
Anytime Ryan, you the homie!
I wish James Gunn would write (along with Ryan Reynolds), and direct Dead Pool. That's a combination everyone would love.
This movie surprised me a lot I like the adult take on a superhero film but really enjoyed it found it very amusing. Hope your having a great day James 💯💯
Agreed! The flow to this one has all the right beats!
That puddle at the start wasnt a planned thing. James just saw it and used it to creat that great shot
Great reaction homie! I also love how everyone has the exact same reaction to the jiggle scene 🤣
I went into this movie expecting not to enjoy it, like the first but I was sold after that intro. It is by far the funniest superhero/anti villain film I have ever seen
Here's a fun little bit of trivia! Margot Robbie did the "strangling the torturer while hanging on a hook" scene herself. No double!
Peacemaker, the new series on HBO Max, is AWESOME btw 🔥
Quite a surprise to see this reaction today, but a welcomed one!~
What a difference a director can make in comparing those two movies.
James Gunn picked the villains he did because he thought there was a special tragedy to being a comic book villain who wasn’t very good. I’d recommend an early film from Gunn, a horror-comedy called “Slither.” It’s so much fun.
It’s so hilarious to hear the legend, Stallone, saying “Nom Nom!” 🤣
The Peacemaker series are awesome as well James!
This was the Most James Gunn like movie James Gunn has ever directed. Nd his follow up series Peacemaker is worth seeing too.
I love how Harley doesn't hesitate to _lunge_ to Shark's aid, tearing at the New Dumb Friends by hand, despite the fact that any of them might lash out and kill her.
One of the things I love about this movie is the variety of the weirdness of the squad members and the other prisoners on the roster. This picture of the underbelly of a superhuman society full of people with really strange/impressive abilities but, unlike the superheroes which are usually the focus, loaded down with seriously antisocial personality problems. It's actually great worldbuilding, isn't it? If we did live in a world where people with incredible powers and abilities dressed up in costumes to have epic battles on the streets, there would totally be a population of weirdos like this.
Yo that sweater is fire fam
Super entertained watching this
James Gunn started with Troma Films. He learned early how to do gore and push boundaries. Not really a Deadpool influence. By 2000 he did The Specials, his first super hero movie. (check out the dance scene in that one) Then Super at 2010.
James vs James Gunn, love to see it!
Hahaha nice 😂
