I love the Summertime reference at 3:28. It fit in so well that didn't notice it until after a few listens.
And this is why I love Mark. Wow, so much beauty and so heartful. Can't believe I ever found his playing dry and intellectual (once upon a time). So much emotion and beauty in everything he plays. :-)
Huge sound, complex yet soft and relaxed.
If you love this and you like flamenco you MUST BUY Perico Sambeat's "Ademuz", which features Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michael Leonhart and other star musicians. Since I first heard it 5 years ago it is my favorite CD of all times - great arrangements and solos. It is the greatest unheard CD I know. Do yourself and your ears a favor - go and get it now!
I think you know, it never need a dislike button for this video.
Wow, just discovered this. Mark Turner's phrasing is so melodic, yet powerful. His timing is impeccable. This guy is turning into a younger version of the late great Joe Henderson, but with his own style. Gorgeous tune. OJM comes through again.
AMAAAZING!!! Both orchestra and Turner, just incredible!
I wish I could personally tell Mark how much I love him
Who is the soprano player out of the 5? Such a clean technique/tone. Complex all the way through and he really delivers.
If i'm not mistaken it's José Luis Rego
Great tune and great playing!
Been listening over and over. Been trying to figure out the time signature (can't be the only one). The way I (after lot's of counting work) count the first part it is 9/8 - 7/8 - 8/8 - 6/8, and then 8/8 - 6/8 is repeted in the end of the part. How do you count it?
Meu Deus !!que som maravilhoso!!Graças a DEus!!
