It doesn’t seem to matter how bad the weather gets, the little red camper always looks cosy. That river looked terrifying! I wouldn’t like to live in those properties right on the riverside. Thanks for sharing a really interesting video.

Hope you don't mind me leaving a tip Ken. Snip the chicken over the pan with scissors into chunks. Of course, you need to handle the chicken (could use gloves) , it saves having to put raw chicken on a chopping board. I do it all the time x

I think the little village with the church is where some of the scenes from the film ‘Whistle down the Wind’ was filmed. Given the weather you’ve suffered, it’s quite an appropriate name.

It’s lovely how you take turns cooking. Takes the drudgery out completely. I was a homemaker and cooked every meal, and packed every lunch. That was my job. My dear husband worked so hard as an engineer and my job was to take care of him and the house.
It freed us up to spend our weekends together. Miss that smiling face. He died suddenly at barley 56. Losing your life partner is horrid. This is why I so enjoy seeing your happy marriage and you true concern and caring for each other.

Having a McDonald’s is ok with us too! Thank you for not swimming in the river with/without…..well you know! That river was crazy! I am amazed that houses are built right next to it. It seems no matter the weather you both manage to present a warm and inviting atmosphere in the red camper. I’m assuming the weather has improved greatly since February. Take care. Mary

Damn we were all glued for a little red strip off mind you in that temperature it wouldn’t be fun lol
Wow that river … you would not want to fall in there for sure
We notice our handles have a hell of draft to - sounds like inherent in all vans - I was looking at creating a plastic cover sometime
We use cling film and scissors on chicken as like you don’t like it on the chopping boards
One tip we have just found for curry - you can layer the rice on the source for 3 mins at the end so one pot … done it twice now
    Tough trip great video though

Can relate to the miserable weather, which we are again experiencing this week in my part of Australia, though the rain isn't as heavy as previously experienced. I recall the Forest of Boland in your previous episode, a lot of open countryside and such a contrast to the big cities further south. Also the pretty village of Downham, a step back in time without the awful double yellow lines along the roadsides which plague Britain generally. Overlooked by the brooding mass of Pendle Hill, famous for the witches who lived in the area way back in the 17th century.

    • @LifeistooshortCK

Watching y’all walk across and along that flooded river gave me the willies!!! That was TERRIFYING and INTIMIDATING water! As a child I watched through a window as a flooding river rose so quickly it inundated our home….I was actually carried to safety by a fireman as they helped people from their homes…to this day high waters make me antsy. Not only is it drab and grey day, a visit to gravestones, parking fees in small country towns, defibrillators in phone boxes and I didn't see anyone wave "thanks" from other vehicles for your courteousness. I don't cut raw chicken any more on a board either. I cut it with scissors straight into the pan and then use an anti vac wipe to clean the scissors, works a treat and the chicken cooks quicker. Sorry to say I really enjoyed it and you managed to sound positive and made me laugh as well. I enjoyed the dramatic scenery and your views on McDonalds and like you say they do manage to be open when no one else is. I always annoy my husband as I don't like burgers and if we have to go into one I will only have a fillet of fish which is always cooked fresh which really miffs him off because of the wait. Even when it's really bad you don't tend to give in and go into a hotel I take my hat off to you as I would be chomping at the bit for a bath and warm bed. Thanks again for a great video let's see if you can stick it out you brave couple.

It may have been a “pretty miserable day” but I found this episode hilarious! We Brits like nothing better than moaning about the weather (I still do it and I’ve lived in the USA for over 20 years!), but we also embrace it! I could totally “see” those two people with their thermos flask and sandwiches enjoying every minute of that storm, but I did feel sorry for the sheep! And Ken you did a great job with that curry. I bet it was a “windy” night all round!! Take care guys!

Glad you enjoyed it Sandra. We can see the attraction in sitting in your car with a thermos and sandwiches watching those poor sheep in the rain and wind 😁

Oh sorry forgot to say how about using a pair of kitchen scissors to cut your chicken straight into the pan and then you only have the scissors and one mucky hand to tend to. Just a thought as chicken sticks to the board doesn't it? I hate that too.

Another well put together video guys, thank you!
Just a small suggestion, put your intro music on the end as an outro to give smart tv users a bit more time to like the video. You deserve more likes than you get and id hate for you to miss any due to sluggish tv menus like mine! I always forget to do it at the start of the video and have to play it again to hit the like button. Personally I’m more than happy to make the effort to do this, but some may not. Well done 👏

Ken I always worry about the front windows, as where does the water, that forms droplets all go? If you think about it they all go down into the front part of the dash where all the electrics are, like relay plates and fuse panel are usually placed.

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  2 года назад +1

It all depends on how you remove the moisture. So far I have never seen water running down the front screen of its own accord. It can happen though when wiping it off. I use a method of removal that does not cause that problem. So far so good.

I agree with you regarding McDonald's. So many people make out as though it's the most terrible food ever, but as long as you don't eat lots of it then it's fine! I got a hamburger, fries and drink from there recently and paid about £3.70, which isn't bad value either.

I was in Settle on Monday. I had better weather than you, although I spent a very wet and windy night on the Yorkshire Dales near Sedbergh on Monday night! Did you see the old water tower in Settle that was converted into a residential property? It featured on Grand Designs and they turned the roof into a rooftop sun room.
