  • The Japanese legend Sadaharu Oh holds the record for most professional home runs with 868. That's over 100 more than Barry Bonds of Major League Baseball.
Under hitting coach Hiroshi Arakawa, he pioneered a distinctive "flamingo" leg kick that would take over three years for him to perfect. With it, he was a 15-time home run champion, A five time batting champion, and won the triple crown twice. He also named NPB MVP nine times.
In 1974, he participated in a home run derby against the legendary Hank Aaron, only to lose 10-9. At the time it was regarded as a true clash of the titans and a battle between the two greatest home run hitters in the known baseball universe.
