    I'm new to DE wet shaving and you are one of my favorite RUclips commentators. You have a personal warmth that comes across the screen wonderfully and, as a Yank, I enjoy listening to your Scuttish ahksent. I'm on the verge of buying a RazoRock Game Changer now, so this video was a big help. Thank you!

    Thanks Kevy, I am with you the .68 is a little more comfortable and like you said you can go to another blade. I shave everyday so I really don't need anything aggressive just good technique. No pre shave here in my den.

    When I started wet shaving 6 years ago proraso green was the first shave soap I used. While i do still use it and still my favorite scent after trying dozens of other soaps, fine and old bond street give me a far superior shave over anything proraso.

    Pre..shave..oil...WORKS! I usually lather and pass twice then check for residual slickness and do a 3rd pass with the residual and a touch of water added to face...Protects and improves skin texture-No irritation.

    Hi Kevy,
    greeting to Scotland from Germany and all the best for 2023!
    I like your videos and tutorials a lot and learned a lot about shaving ans skin care.
    Until recebtly, my daily shaver was a Merkur Futur set at 2,0 - 2.5. After severals years, however, the outcome become more and more unsatisfactory due to increasing tolerances with a top cap getting loose and internal corrosion in the adjustment mechanism. Even spare parts did not solve the problem.
    So I decided something more durable was needed and purchased a RazoRock Game Changer .68. What a beautiful and classy object. Easy enough to use daily, built to last forever, no tolerances in its mechanically impeccable workmanship, shaving is a pure pleasure again! And what is more, the shaves are both better in their BBS result and smoother to the skin than with my Futur (regardless of the chosen setting).
    Your review was indeed a perfect help pror making this (quite substantial) investment! By the way, I also have the HD handle with the GC and am totally happy with it.
    Cheers
    Matthias

      Hi Matthias. That's great news that youve found the Gamechanger. 68 razor works well for you. Like you, i think it's a great razor and it always guves me a comfortable shave. I had a Merkur Futur but I couldn't get on with it at all, just too aggressive for me. Cheers. Kevy 🙂👍

    Great comparo, Kev. I dropped change in one if these .84 mm blade gapped beauties last week and it landed at my doorstep just today. I shaved with it loaded with a Nacet on a lather from a Wilkinson Sword 'Blue' stick soap this arvo and man let me tell you I fell in love with it - possibly my favourite razor (we shall see after a few repeat shaves). The blade was perfectly captured and the blade bevel was a flat as a tack. Very smooooooooth indeed. A great value for money stainless razor

    Hi Kevy,
    I shaved this morning with my Razorock •84, proraso green and 2nd use Treet blade. 4 days growth. It was a good shave but I thought the blade could have been sharper. My problem area on my jaw line left hand side didn't get so close. I got closer with my •68 open comb with 1st use Tiger blade. I will try a Nacet in both next time. I also prefer the super knurl handle on my •68 over the UFO on my •84. That is easily remmided though.
    Stay safe mate,
    Dave

    I was right with you with the Tennis and already picturing the clubs coming out a week or so later...and then it was back to the Football season again! My parents used to take me on two weeks holiday before the school's broke off, simply because it was much cheaper. 8 weeks off! Of course that was long before parent's were fined etc. Great shave again Kev and great example of how never to be scared of just simply adding water to help the Proraso 'explode' as you say.

    I received my •84 today kevy and have preshave oil, Treet blades and proraso green soap, so I may do a copycat shave but with just the •84. I've only ever done one comparison shave and that was with Treet blades. Razors were Outlaw standard and Rex Envoy. The Outlaw was smoother and not so scary as the Envoy.

    Nice comparison Kevy not many of us have both the .68 and the .84 Game Changers. Mine is the .84 and I consider it a level 4 on the one to ten aggression scale and my BEST razor I really love it.I am almost certain Razorock has discontinued the .68 Game Changer so the comparison now might not provide the choice. Okay for as I said the .84 is PERFECT ~! Kit

      Hi,
      I own the •68 open comb and the •84. The open comb gives me a very close and comfortable shave. My skin is left feeling smoother and more comfortable with the •68. Both great razors though. I also have the Lupo •72 closed comb and the Lupo dual comb which is •95 closed comb and •72 open comb. All are great razors!!

    I'm usually an every other day shaver, and .68 gives me a bbs with smoothness I don't get from the .84 plate. The .84 shaves too close for me, not that it irritates, I'm just more comfortable using the .68. Using Rubie blades with both GC.

    Great shave Kevy, I do enjoy a shave with eucalyptus and menthol creams/soaps in the lovely Scottish summer weather 🙄 what did I just say there?
    I can see the .84 looks a little like it's more of a gunmetal grey finish and the .68 looks more chrome, but they both done the job anyway. Good work! 👍🏻

    Hi Kevy. I've been considering the Gamechanger and came across your comparison shave. I certainly don't need another safety razor. I think my rabbit hole allergy is kicking in. My favorite DE safety razor is the Rockwell 6S. And I recall that it's yours too. Unless you've discovered one better. My question is "Should I just leave well enough alone and stick with my 6S?" What I like about the 6S is the lack of blade feel and yet a close, comfortable shave. Thanks for any feedback and cheers!

    I am a huge fan of Proraso. In regards to lathering, one must use water sparingly. I would recommend adding the water gradually, "the posh way", using one's fingers, a few drops at a time. It's great stuff.

    Nice video and important info. I have exactly the same trouble spot, and my hair grows in every direction there (swirl). I get a mediocre shave there, irritation, ingrowns, etc...... I started using a gillette skinguard and get a closer shave and less irritation. Still must have in all directions. For the rest I can use any razor but tend to gravitate towards a bit more aggressive and with a sharp blade. Cheers

      Thanks. My trouble spot only looks red when I shave. Half an hour later my skin looks great on that spot. It must flare up slightly due to the razor or blade going over it. It's only that one part of my face. It used to get really hot in that spot when I shaved with a cartridge razor but with DE razors it feels great although it sometimes can look quite angry. Cheers. A really nice and exhaustive comparison. Thank you always for your great explanation, even though I bought the .84 and I use it only when I shave once a week with Sputnik or the 🦈 chrome coated. I use every three day my merkur 34 C and with both the razors I had always a BBS. My last opinion is that, if I have to shave every three days with the RazoRock I have for sure an irritation especially on my neck area. However the Merkur 34 C never gave me a problem, for me is my to go razor, but when I used to shave me once a week the RazoRock GC 84 gave me always a close shaving result.

    A terrific comparison, and an added bonus of the perennial classic member of the Super Six! I wish I liked menthol in soaps. I do enjoy Proraso red, white, and even blue on occasion. I do like Ingram cream, but the menthol only rears its head after each rinse. I do however, like menthol in aftershave splashes, and balms. I own both the .68, and .84 respectively. I enjoy both-depending on the blade choice of course. That was a magnificent demonstration on proper lathering technique for Proraso. I think it necessary to point out that the use of Proraso's pre-shave, or pre-shave oils by Taconic, or Truefitt &Hill aid in imparting slickness to this super six member. The Treet was an equally prime choice for demonstration purposes. The Razorock Plissoft is always a joy to see. It is one of the oldest brushes in your vast collection. I hope the sunny days continue in Dundee. Global warming be damned. Cheers!

      @kevyshaves4109  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Alex. I'm not a huge menthol fan either but there's not too much in the Proraso green so it's ok for me. Yes! May the sun continue to shine. Global warming? I like to call it evolution 😁 Cheers. Kevy 😀👍

    Nice comparison Kevy, I have the .84 and love it, for me Astra blades work nice, but I bought treet blades to try next. I find the little bit of glue on the Astra blades make it a bit tough to remove the blade from the plate. The tolerances are very tight and really locks the blade in. Have you had any trouble with removing blades. After a while the glue goes away and find it a bit easier to remove.

    Kevy,
    Your videos are timeless! You were the first, or one of the first, wet shavers I started watching about two years ago when the bug bit me. The Google algorithms are scary because this video popped up first in my feed tonight. I know why! I've been going down the rabbit hole the last week researching between the 0.68 and 0.84. Initially thinking that the 0.68 would be more suited to me. I've come to the realization that I should probably try the 0.84 first. I have the 6C and typically use plate 3 and sometimes plate 4 and am looking for something more efficient, but relatively smooth. I've watched a lot of your videos, but missed this one, so kudos to Google (but scary). I hope you and Mrs. Kevy are back to full steam after Covid-19. I've been there and hope you both are OK.

    I'm probably in the minority, but I preferred the .68 gap. I found that if I had any bumps or abrasions on my skin, the .84 would cut me. The .84 would give me a slightly closer shave, but it wasn't worth the cuts and irritation for me personally.

    After about 4 years of DE shaving, I'm of the opinion that one will get more audio feedback from a razor and blade combo that's having a tougher time cutting the whiskers than from a more aggressive razor and blade combo that's mowing right through the whiskers. For example, a blade that's seen better days will make more noise cutting through a 4 day growth because it's having a tougher time doing so.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  5 лет назад +1

      That sounds like an interesting analogy. It makes sense, however the two blades I used today were brand new. I thought the .84 made slightly more noise cutting though the whiskers, not by much, all the same. Kevy 😀👍

    • @shave-a-thon3415
      @shave-a-thon3415 5 лет назад +1

      @@kevyshaves4109 Here's another way of putting it. If I used a blade that's on its last legs so to speak, I'll have good audio feedback on all three passes and for about another 5 minutes on the pickup pass as it's working extra hard to cut the whiskers. I can perform the touch up pass nearly forever on the jawline, halfway down from the ears, and inner sides of the neck and still get some audio feedback, even from brand new blades.

    Very thorough and informative presentation, Kevy. I might have asked a question or two, but you covered every aspect so thoroughly in this comparison that the questions are, basically, all answered. One of the questions might have been why to purchase both razors, if, for economy sake, one could buy a 6C or 6S and have equally accommodating differences. Do you figure that, besides no overhang with the Gamechanger, the difference in engineering, and possibly blade gaps, between the Gamechangers and the Rockwells is a substantial difference in comfort and/or results?
    Really got a kick out of the several intentionally humorous quips and almost "ad infinitum" presentation of the "post shave" stage.
    Thanks for the very thorough coverage of these razors, Kevy, and for the also thoroughly enjoyable humor. Very best wishes.

    Just want to suggest to Jack, that it could be possible that he may have hard water where he is from, which can effect the lathering process.
    I used to have one of those filter pitchers which filter out the particles in "hard" water and make the filtered water more neutral. If he has that try it and see if it helps.
    The GC.84 has a coarser knurling than the GC.68 at least to my eyes when you set them side by side.
    Here's my take on the two shavers.
    How much do you want to rush your shaves? And how much of facial growth do are you taking off on a regular basis? For the once a week shaver, the .84 might be the "better" shaver as it'll handle heavier growth more easily than with the .64.
    That is assuming you just want to get the shave done and do something else.
    If however, like myself, where my morning and evening (yes I shave twice a day) shaves are something I look forward to, enjoying the soaps, aftershaves, balms and what not, then I am not exactly going to be rushing things now am I?
    Even for my morning shave, I wake up earlier so that I have the time to do a "proper" shave, before going off to work.
    And if I am already making time for that, I am sure as hell not going to just rush through it to get it done as fast as possible.
    Comfort, enjoyment, filling the senses and just taking the shave experience as personal time is part my shave.
    So, for me, that means the razor that gets the job done while being the more comfortable would be my tool of choice.
    That and I get a lot less weepers and nicks with a gentler, milder razor.
    Best shaves I have had so far are with :
    Rockwell 6S- R3 with a Feather Blade, Razorock MJ-90A (Razorock's modified DE89, they rate it 6/10 for efficiency ) with a Zaza (sharp as feathers, smooth as Kais but don't last as long as either blades) blade.
    Both mild but effective enough that I get glass smooth BBS every shave without nicks (100%) or weepers (99.9%) of the time.
    And most importantly, I really enjoyed those shaves.

    • @kevyshaves4109
      @kevyshaves4109  5 лет назад +1

      Good tip for Jack there Steven. Yes, I like to make time for my Shaves to really enjoy the whole experience. I've rushed Shaves before and they're never as enjoyable. You're using some nice razors to,shave with there. That's a few people have mentioned the Zaza blades. I've never heard of them before. Time to do some digging for them. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍

      @@kevyshaves4109 Turkey made, they are one of those blades that buck the sharper =less smooth blade balance. Fresh blades are very sharp, I'd say Gillette Nacet or just a tad under feathers, but smooth like Voshkods or Astras. The problem is that they don't last as long, two maybe four shaves before they loose their edge.
      But they are relatively cheap.
