oh boy.... I raised 4 eggsacks in 2019. It started my whole business. we seperated every single sling and raised it individually in deli cups. over 200 slings ! It was quite the undertaking but it was well worth it.
Curious what size were the deli cups?? I have kept these spiders my entire life and have NEVER had to deal with an egg sac. But I have a bunch of small 2 oz condiment cups. But am afraid it’ll be too small!
I was sitting at the dinner table and all of a sudden I saw a crumb moving. Turned out to be a sling so I called out my daughter who has wanted a jumper for over a month now. We found a small container for it and then immediately I couldn’t figure out how to take care of it so I found this video and it definitely gave me a great direction to keep this guy healthy and happy. Those lil guy’s are amazing hunters from the get go.
This was awesome. Watching these little babies collect the water & catch their prey put a smile on my face! Who knew. I enjoyed watching this very much. Thank you 😊
Went through this over the summer with some P.audax. Good lord they go through a lot of fruit flies. I used a large AMAC, drilled a 7/8ths hole through the top, cut off the top of a plastic soda bottle, and used epoxy to affix it over the hole. Whenever you want access without opening the box, you just unscrew the bottlecap. I use the same setup with most of my arborial T slings too. It's works great for C.versicolor, and avics.
Jumpers will happily hunt prey larger than themselves. Though as someone said, you don't want an even fight when it's your pet involved, so no feeders bigger than they are or anything tough like a beetle.
Thank you for this. I have a sac of P. Regius too that I'm caring for. I separated the sac from mom and the babies turned black and are still in the sac and haven't emerged. I'm dreading the day they all come out haha. I don't know how many I have but I plan of keeping the majority of them. These are are favorite kind of spiders!
I can't believe I've spent most of my life fearing spiders 15 years ago still fearing spiders I wanted a G.rosea. Yes werner you fear spiders but you want a tarantula i'm nuts, now my fear is gone and I have more than a few tarantulas, those jumping spiders are cute!
You all prolly dont care but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Nathan Ares thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I enjoyed the intro music. Those little ones are so cute. Jumping spiders are such curious and active little things. Entertainment in small package. Thanks for showing them to us. 😃🕷🕸 GOD BLESS
Also, since they prefer the top of enclosures, it's better to use it upside down, and omit substrate. The light excelsior can be added generously, so it stays stable inside the inverted container.
Got our very first couple of these coming to us this spring ....we have never ventured outside the Tarantula realm so we will see ...and congrats on the tiny sweet things 💜
I do not suggest misting/spraying for slings. Get a cotton ball and wet it until moist but not dripping. They will drink from it and it can't cause drowning. The smallest droplet will drown a sling. When misting the water will collect together and cause a snowball effect and create even bigger droplets on the sides of the container
Someone sold me her jumping spiders last egg sac at the invert show i went to. It was the last sac of 4 and only about 10 babies emerged but omg they are adorable! Seeing them make catches whilst so tiny never ceases to amuse and surprise me lol
A small piece of foam sponge would suffice to block the hole. Yes, a funnel works well, for feeding fruit flies. I've raised several batches of Phids, and have learned little hacks each time. They are so fun to raise, and watch!
Awesome video! One thing to keepnin mind for those of you looking to breed your spiders and keep them how he shows, place a damp towel at the bottom of the cip rather than spraying the inside. The water droplets easilly kill many of the slings.
I was scared of spiders but only a few days ago i when to the reptile show and ask for someone to put a tarantula on me and I wasn’t scared anymore and now I have a curly haired tarantula and a jumping spider
Thank you. My jumping babies just came out of the web I'm sure we lost some in my room because the container I had mom in had breathing wholes big enough that they could get out..
A cork you drill a hole in the very center of the lid making sure you have a cork that fix or a plastic stopper or use a small square piece of tape one small one large put them together cover up the hole
Love the video! I ended up putting the egg sack into a container (like the one the fruit flies are in) added cross ventilation (only the lid was ventilated) and cut a square shape door on the side for easy access for feeding and adding moist paper towel. I read it's best to leave them together until i3 to i4, so once they get to about that stage I'll then separate. Currently have baby bolds and baby Regals. ❤
That's why jumping spiders are meant to be kept in an enclosure that opens from the bottom or the middle of the front.. bc they go to the top, and also make their nests at the top, so every time you open it you're ruining their nest. Those enclosures are also too small for adult P. Regius so hopefully the others he mentioned are in better homes!
How you doing sir . I found one of those on my porch and It had babies I’m trying to take care of them where did you get those cups? And how do I get the fruit flies
You're so lucky, my girl Pip had a sac, but only about 15 hatched and they all died within the next couple of days. She arrived as an adult and made the sac in the first week I had her, I'm seriously considering getting her a boyfriend now!
I would love to hear you talking more about the slings and what you are doing than to hear music. Especially now that I am considering a jumping spider as a new family member.
I have a problem- my phidippus audax (bold) jumping spider had babies. I’ve been trying to feed them but they’re so small- fruit flies aren’t working, they’re still scared of them. what should I do?
Theres a daves beasties video of 200 adult jumpers all in one jar. So sad. I tried telling him its not right cuz theyre cannabals and he got mad and said im wrong. 😔 i know im right. THEY HAVE TO BE SEPARATED FROM THE START. when they start eating. Nice technique w the screw. Love it
Hello I am Curious i have a bold jumping spider. how long does it take to get adult size.love jumping spider the rest i am scare of spiders.. thanks so much he only molted once so far
Hi...im wanting to breed jumping spiders too. Ive read they are attracted to light. What is your thoughts on shining a light at bottom of the container to draw them? Would this work? Or...a gentle turkey baster type of device? Thoughts???
Excellent techniques for dealing with spiderlings. I had an egg sac of Silver Garden Spiders hatch a few weeks ago. A couple hundred babies! Have fed dead prey and fruit flies. The Arctic blast has made south Texas too cold to release and disperse them. Hoping for warmer, normal weather so they can go and grow as intended. Thanks for the advice in your video!
It’s interesting to see that life on the micro can be so valued in such a way that, like our food, the cutest spiders ever are valued as pets and the fruit flies are not even a thought. What if they were cute like mice fed to snakes? I’m fascinated by this conversation and love to learn. I’m not sure if all of these animals could survive in the wild and if that’s the case….
oh boy.... I raised 4 eggsacks in 2019. It started my whole business. we seperated every single sling and raised it individually in deli cups. over 200 slings ! It was quite the undertaking but it was well worth it.

Breeder tip: Once you see slings it is time to move the egg sac to a container that is easy to manage before the slings emerge.
What kind of container is small enough for the slings??

Thank you so much because I was just wondering that myself and now I know ❤

Love the cheeky intro! 👌🏽🤣 and dang that was a lot of lil jumpers! Super cute 🥰
To right super cute
Very ingenious ! Those jumpers are tiny indeed, the fruit flies seems as big as they are. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

Spider: "Hey! Where'd you get that?" Fly: "Run for your life!!"

Thank you for the info. I am new to jumping spiders and lucky enough to have found a female that had babies recently. Amazing!!

No that music was bumpin 🙏🏼 I need it for my spiders dance club.
That was chaotic yet peaceful. Chaotically peaceful. 🤔😆

Ahhh spidey daddy. That looked worse than herding cats. LOL

Very interesting. I'm scared of spiders but I've been drawn to these cute jumping spiders.

Excellent idea! Great footage.
I like the music! 🎶🕸🕷🕸
I use a straw or one of those baby, nasal aspirator bulbs, to gently blow air on my slings, to move them.
Great video! They're so cute!
Looked like a bit of a nightmare. Great fun though I bet lol great video as usuall thank you for the advice Alex

Awesome. What did you use for substrate in cup?I have the cups and grassy stuff because I make cultures.
Alex you’re so funny lol and what a genius idea 👏🏼👌
My little slings aren’t really eating? Is that normal? They still
Prefer to group together or stay in the web nest.
Great video! Thanks 🙏🏼 is it okey to have a little bit substrate on the bottom of a baby ( I4/I5 ) enclosure ? Thanks
I know this video is long ago .... but I wanted ask ... if you can help me find somewhere I can Find a jumping spider. Pleaseee !!!
would putting the sac in a micro-mesh butterfly enclosure work?
How you doing sir . I found one of those on my porch and It had babies I’m trying to take care of them where did you get those cups? And how do I get the fruit flies

O I wish I had one! I'm a beginner and I think one of those would be ok
Smart fix

What kind of plant is that. Where to order fruit fly culture?thanks!
What is the grass like stuff that you have in the containers with the babies?
It’s called excelsior. It’s actually wood shavings. It used to be used as packing material.
I FED MINE SPRINGTAILS!! I ALREADY HAD A SAC MONTHS AGO ON MY CHANNEL AND THE ADULTS HAD DIED ALREADY BUT THE BABIES ARE STILL AT THEIR NEW HOMES
at what time should we separate captive bred slings P. regius? I have L3-4-5
Great video! Enjoyed every bit of it. Jumping spiders are the sure cure for arachniphobia =))
if you dont have fruit flies, do you think killing something bigger and they all can suck from it works?
Where do you get the fruit flies?
Wow, that was a lot of water, and big droplets. A small fine mist sprayer is much better!
my new jumper unexpectedly made an egg sac this morning so I’m studying up 😩
