I keep on hearing this a lot. Is the difference between the old and new is too upfront and concerning? Your comment is quite old, but what did you not like about this product ? Did you stop using it ? I'm using it and I'm confused if it's good or not. It does give a glow, but it's very heavy on my skin, even after using it in a small quantity.
I seriously will never understand when brands "reformulate" literally a perfect product. It just makes no sense to me, especially when 8-9 times out of 10, they new version is not as good as the original.
@@lonerebeI Yup this is interesting. When I see Laneige, I see that lip mask and cream skin. But, in the end business is about profit. Obviously there's something behind since brands not obligated to disclose their reformulation policy to the public.
Not sure either. I know laneige's parent company will revisit and update formulas every 3-4 years but the cerapeptide version has been out in Korea for a few years now, maybe it just performed better there. Confusing move on their part for sure.
Yes Kelly when companies re formulate it’s never for the greater good and I agree with you on on leaving us dry skinned folk(eczema) with the original and the new a light version. I’ve just finished up a bottle of the OG and have 2 back ups but gonna order another 2 while still available as I can use all year round and no fear of it going out of date either, about 6 weeks per bottle ….lol
My skin is extremely dry, the "Laneige Skin Refiner" saved my skin a lot, and I even think it isn't enough for me when it's cold. Now with this new formula I really don't know what to do, it was my favorite product because it was soo moisturizing!
I've been waiting for this! I think we have very similar skin types, and I feel exactly the same about this reformulation. The original seemed to sink in, while also sitting on top of my skin and hydrating from within while also locking that moisture in. It was one of my favorite skin products. The new one feels watered down. It still gives a glow, but it doesn't feel like it sits on top of my skin and locks anything in.
I really appreciate your honesty and integrity, Kelly. Thank you for your review. I count on your opinions to guide my purchases. You never steer me wrong! Take good care.
This was my holy grail product! I’ve gone through at least 5 bottles, worked better than most moisturizers for me ugh! I hope you can find a dupe for it while testing out future products! I will try TJ Max for the original but I won’t be purchasing the replacement 🤨
I was waiting for this comparison from you! I'll still try the new one, but I agree the richness of the original is what really made it a holy grail product for me and I am disappointed to hear it sounds like it won't be enough for my dry skin anymore
I will have to try this new formulation! I think I’m one of a few who hated the original, it just was too heavy and greasy for my liking, it wears better at night. I found the dr. ceuracle was such a better variant of these milky toners. Been watching you for a little bit now and I love the research and care you put into your videos! Keep it up! ps. your skin glow is GLOWING!
I think it's addressing some consumer claims. I personally enjoy the OG but I know a ton of people who don't like the "film" it leaves. I have dry skin so I never felt that 🤷🏼♀️
It left no film on my combo skin either. It absorbs into the skin seamlessly. People were using just too much product, it's their fault. The OG was perfect. And you needed just a tiny bit because it was rich yet lightweight and non greasy.
I found a place that was selling the old version and bought a back-up... might go back and buy another one. This was the product that save my skin around my eyes during my flare-ups. I had to use Aquaphor then switched to the old Laneige. I do hate when there is a reformulation in the opposite direction of why the product works for me. Thanks for this review... sad to hear though. Cheers!!
Hi Kelly. It's been hot everywhere, true! Apart from the UK 😅. Yes, we've had a couple of weeks at 36 degrees, but this summer is being particularly miserable: windy, rainy, grey and chilly! Okay, I'm a winter person, so I guess I shouldn't complain, but sometimes you just want summer to be summer, you know what I mean? Flip flops and light dresses! I haven't tried the new formulation yet and I don't know that I will. I suspect your review is spot on! Also, though less important, the packaging is so ugly, imo. There's something about that huge cap that is not eye-pleasing. Yes to the refills though!
excellent video! I couldn't agree with you more, the original really was unique and the new one is very nice but like you say there is so many like it on the market.
Such a tragedy! I only ever use this in the winter time, but oh man was it a lifesaver for the dry patches around my mouth from tret use. I can’t believe they would reformulate such a flagship product! RIP Cream Skin. 😢
So sad they reformulated and added hylauranic acid - it was one of the few really moisturizing toners that didn't have HA in it. My skin has really done well with the OG formula, and my skin doesn't always do well with products with HA. I might have to find a few OG bottles while they're still out there and test how my skin does with the new formula 😢
The original was one of the first skin care products I purchased and I’m sad I’ll no longer have that option. It did feel like magic upon first application! I don’t think I’ll try the new version.
Laniege cream skin has been a cult fav and I loved it because it didn't include any form of HA which my skin doesn't agree with. I'm so disappointed. I was wondering why it was sold out on every website I went to. Kelly can you do a video on the rich creamer toners that don't include HA? I live in a dry climate and struggle to find any rich milky hydrating toners that don't include any form HA. Love you work as always 🧡
Hi Kelly I loved the original as someone with super dry skin (rosacea and eczema prone). It was a Winter staple for many years and although I haven't tried the new version I truthfully have no desire to. I loved the richness of the original version and that's why I bought it. I still have a bottle thankfully and I'll keep it for the coming colder months. I did recently discover the Jin jung sung omega serum (150ml bottle) and it perhaps will be my replacement product used as a moisturising essence. It has a richness to it that a milky toner doesn't have for me and is about the same price for the same amount of product - I use it as a richer essence anyway due to size/texture. I'm really disappointed to learn this new version is lacking what I loved about the original - it was so good for very dry skin and that was the reason I bought it over and over again. Yet another reformulation of a favourite that isn't a positive experience. I think they will lose sales and that perhaps may persuade them to bring back the original as a rich option - we can only hope. Best wishes.
As someone with super oily skin, I couldn't use the original because it was way too greasy. So the new formulation sounds nice to me. But I can see how folks with dry skin will miss that oily finish. I think they should have 2 versions, something like "Cream Skin Light" and "Cream Skin Rich" or something.
Hey since you've acne prone skin, letting you know HA causes inflammation in the skin. I've personally seen it ruin my skin barrier and cause acne. Try eliminating HA from your routine. The new version does contain HA.
@@taiyabazaheer9492 I'm pretty sure that may only be true for some people. I used to use 100% hyaluronic acid (prescribed by dermatologist) with no issue, so the miniscule amount in skincare isn't going to hurt me.
I think I’ll really like the new one. I’ve loved the old one sooo much but it was a little bit difficult to layer, I think the watery texture of the new one with cerapeptides will help my oily acne prone skin even more. Btw my skin was healthy with lesser breakouts when I used the old one. Can’t wait to use the new one.
I'll probably like the new formula because I found the original to be greasy, but yeah, at this point it won't be unique among the sea of moisturizing toners that now exist. Dr. Ceuracle remains my fave.
Same here! I didn't love the original cream skin and the new formula sounds better to me. Now I'm in love dr ceuracle cream toner and don't want to be without😊
I have normal to dry skin and while I liked Laneige, it was sometimes tooo heavy for my skin. I much prefer Dr. Cereucle's (sp?) version because it has a balance of green tea and the cream. I love your videos so much - so thorough! It's so obvious you put a lot of work and effort to make them.
I was automatically bumped out when I first tried the new version, it’s only gotten worse now during winter time. I will definitely NOT repurchase, currently on the look out for a replacement 😢
I did a video about testing replacements for the OG formula, here it is if you haven't seen it yet! ruclips.net/video/aw8DuCOSO-Y/видео.html&lc=UgxmLBovzv5o6t0mXWV4AaABAg
Thank you for this review, I was wondering about the new formula. I loved the old one especially in the winter. I haven’t been able to find anything that compares. Dr. Ceuracle is amazing but not quite moisturizing enough for me…I would love a dupes video!
Thank you for this comparison, Kelly! Your insights never disappoint. If the Dr. Ceuracle is ever reformulated, that's when I will be very upset. I think it's become the new staple for many of us. As of now, I'm definitely ready to let Laneige Cream Skin go. It was wonderful but the new version isn't for me.
The old formula was sooooo good. It's the best thing I put on my skin. I've acne prone, very sensitive skin and this product used to take my redness away without causing breakouts. Plus left my skin glowing and soft. So good underneath makeup. But I can't stand hyaluronic acid. Derms say it causes inflammation in the skin and it used to destroy my skin barrier. I really, really want the old formula back. The simplicity of the formula instead of trendy ingredients is what made it so iconic.
I agree on most points. Original version was perfect. I just started using the new one a few days ago. It's good, though definitely not as instantly nourishing. Maybe the longterm results will be an improvement. We'll see.
I bought the org one in full size at marshals for 19$ Its ready when I need it for winter . I am so upset 😭 about the reformulation if it ain't broke why fix it. I feel like maybe I should have bought another if I see it again I will buy another one. I am not big on change especially when it's something I love. I think maybe Sephora inside kohles is still selling the original version too I saw it 2 weeks ago instore . I feel like they should have kept the original version and added this one and called it cream skin light or something idk * LOL I wrote this comment in the beginning I'm near the end and we feel the same way and even said the same thing keep the org and add this and call in light. Great minds think alike.
Some online retailers are still selling through their old stock so it might be a good time to look! A few people here have also found it at discount retailers like TJMaxx
Haven’t tried either product but was surprised to see at tjmax yesterday! I picked the original toner up for 19 dollars. Can’t wait to try it in the fall!
@@jheng7051 I'm obsessed with Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner & Isntree Green Tea Fresh Toner!!! I use the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner, 2 layers every night. Isntree Green Tea Fresh Toner, 1 layer day & night. Remember to use the Round Lab toner first because it is more watery than the Isntree toner. Fyi, you can layer the Round Lab toner up to 7 layers (Korean Toner Trick).. I love the Torriden Dive In Hyaluronic Acid Toner too. But I use it mostly in the day if I'm not using sunscreen (always at home 😅). Because my sunscreen have a high percentage of hyaluronic acid..
With the new cream skin refiner what I’ve done since the 2nd day I got it is add half a tiny drop of meadow foam seed oil into it-and it essentially feels exactly the same. Sometimes I’ll add the medik8 bakuchiol peptides oil to it because of all the rich fatty acids it also almost feels the same as the old.
It doesn't really compare to Laneige for moisture, Thayers is a lot more hydrating and plumping but not very rich. I have a review coming out next week, check that out for all my thoughts!
This is such a frustrating reformulation😢 I have oily combo skin and I really enjoy layering this in the winter under moisturiser. This new version just feels like every other toner on the market now why should I go for laneige???
I was wondering what was going on with this, as I regularly repurchase the mist version but could not find it anywhere. Glad it has not disappeared so will defo be getting this and pouring it into my mist bottle. It is a saviour for my dry and sensitive skin
This is the issue I have with K-beauty and their fast fashion type of business model. Whenever I find a holy grail I don’t have it for long because they either reformulate it or - as was the case for Banila Co and their Miss Flower & Mr Honey cream - discontinue it completely. (And by the time they realised their mistake I had moved on and found something even better. ) Seems like a risky way to do business to me but it must be working since they keep doing it.
Has anyone tried the Aestura AtoBarrier 365 Cream Mist? I‘m wondering whether that might be a replacement for the original Cream Skin Refiner. Unfortunately I don‘t think that the new formulation is moisturizing enough for me. 😢
Noooo I'm in Texas and was waiting until it was cool enough to order Laneige Cream Skin Refiner (end of September) but now they've reformulated? What a bummer!
So sad!! I love the original cream skin, nothing else I've tried can take its place. I agree, I only use it during the winter, but I don't think I'll use this new one in the summer anyway, I go to the cosrx propolis toner for my second/thicker toner layer then. Curious what products you'll find to replace og cream skin when the cold weather rolls around.
Oh my god I was wrong Kelly. This new creme skin is more oily. In first use we feel just lite. It's same. Nothing changed than getting more dense. It's giving me closed comedones
So i just checked the ingredients on the new/currently available mist version of the cream skin and it seems to be the same list as the OG cream refiner... would you be open to comparing those two to see if it's a closer match to the original? I was interested in the original so I'd love to know how the mist compares! :)
The mist version isn’t new. It’s the original formula. For the new version, they sell a mist top that is put onto the bottle. Meanwhile, for the original version they sold a mist bottle and a pour out bottle. If you want to stock up on the old formula, buy the mist bottle.
I stocked up back in April when I ordered it from laneige direct and got a sample of the new formula. After that. I went to my sephora and sephora online. Lol back then even amazon did not have the original anymore. Try ur sephora and online sephora 🤞 I talked with laneige and they told me unopened bottles last 24 months. Lol I bought 8. 😂
Are they phasing out the original one? I hope not. I wanted to try this reformulated version but good thing i watched your video first. I have really dry skin during winter and this is my winter HG. maybe the new version would work for me for summers ... Anyway i really hope they won't get rid of the original one. If they do, theb i guess I'll have to hoard.😅😂😂
The OG formula seems to only be available in the states in the mist format at Sephora but it's not being sold on the official Laneige US site and I'm unsure if it's available in Korea.
Have you seen the newest peach and Lilly copper peptide serum? I LOOKS good on paper and the ingredients list but having used Niod CAIS for years and Niche beauty labs Theramid copper peptide which is a 3%-this peach and Lilly is .2% copper peptide which seems incredibly watered down? I’m not sure. It has a ton of peptides but it seems different to me how blue it can be with such a low concentration of CP-even though it’s higher than most Korean products with it in there it still seems low. I’m getting Biossance vibes but far better ingredients.
This is HIGHLY upsetting...my barrier is currently compromised so I've blowm through my current bottle...I wasn't worried bc I was gonna run out and grab another since its a STAPLE...it's saved my skin in the texas heat and the Icelandic cold...I love the original formula so this is so disheartening
From the point of view of the average consumer, this story about re-formulating a popular product looks very shady. Retiring a product that many people love is like shooting yourself in the foot. For what? Maybe I'm too suspicious, but maybe they found some very significant flaw in the original formula? Maybe the first version was even dangerous for the skin, so before the noise got up, they decided to discontinue it, but in order to further hype on the glory of the original formula, they made this improved version. Anyway, I don't like this company policy. And I don't even want to try a new product.
DEAR LANEIGE, please don't fix what's not broken! 😢 Skin is not one size fits all. You removed the magic from your star product just to reach a broader audience, and now it's no longer magical. Please reintroduce the original magical formula (alongside the reformulated version). I'm so so sad because this is identical to the Illiyoon ceramide cream reformulation disappointment. 😭 Sincerely, Original magical formula lover
Bummer! They should of done exactly what you said made 2 versions rich and light BRILLIANT!!! I just got the RNW Essence it’s so lovely!!!!! Have you tried it? I bought the org one in full size at marshals for 19$ Its ready when I need it for winter . I am so upset 😭 about the reformulation if it ain't broke why fix it. I feel like maybe I should have bought another if I see it again I will buy another one. I am not big on change especially when it's something I love. I think maybe Sephora inside kohles is still selling the original version too I saw it 2 weeks ago instore . I feel like they should have kept the original version and added this one and called it cream skin light or something idk
* LOL I wrote this comment in the beginning I'm near the end and we feel the same way and even said the same thing keep the org and add this and call in light. Great minds think alike.
Oh no! Im so sad, i love the original. Wish i knew they were going to be changing it so i could buy backups 😢
Some online retailers are still selling through their old stock so it might be a good time to look! A few people here have also found it at discount retailers like TJMaxx
Was perfect the product, was a favorite for winter 😭
I agree, I feel the same, winter is gonna be hard!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your continued support, Shari!!❤
Haven’t tried either product but was surprised to see at tjmax yesterday! I picked the original toner up for 19 dollars. Can’t wait to try it in the fall!
Sadly, it broke me out! Maybe it doesn't work well with my skin type..
I have Sensitive Dehydrated Oily Acne-prone skin..
hi.. im oily dehydrated sensitive skin, do you use hydrating toner? if so, what toner you are using?
That's too bad, the original is definitely geared towards dry skin types.
@@KellyDriscoll Hi Kelly! I bought the Cerapeptide, not the original..
Can you do a comparison between ULTA Milky Toner and THAYERS Hydrating Milky Toner and how they stack up against Laneige Cream Skin Refiner? Thanks!
Hey Kelly! Laneige launched Jin of BTS as their new global ambassador and he's promoting the Cream Skin Refiner. Has it been reformulated?
I was wondering what was going on with this, as I regularly repurchase the mist version but could not find it anywhere. Glad it has not disappeared so will defo be getting this and pouring it into my mist bottle. It is a saviour for my dry and sensitive skin
I'm glad they still have the mist option because that application method is so good!
Happy Tuesday, lovely video 😊❤ xx
They should make 2 formulas ❤
This is the issue I have with K-beauty and their fast fashion type of business model. Whenever I find a holy grail I don’t have it for long because they either reformulate it or - as was the case for Banila Co and their Miss Flower & Mr Honey cream - discontinue it completely. (And by the time they realised their mistake I had moved on and found something even better. ) Seems like a risky way to do business to me but it must be working since they keep doing it.
Laneige cream skin or celimax barrier toner which one is good for dry aging skin
Has anyone tried the Aestura AtoBarrier 365 Cream Mist? I‘m wondering whether that might be a replacement for the original Cream Skin Refiner. Unfortunately I don‘t think that the new formulation is moisturizing enough for me. 😢
Dammit I just ordered the jumbo for prime day…. I just ran out of the OG bottle… I’m sad
Noooo I'm in Texas and was waiting until it was cool enough to order Laneige Cream Skin Refiner (end of September) but now they've reformulated? What a bummer!
Because it will be in my mailbox where it's like 130F for several hours and that's probably not good for any formula.
Oh yeah if it's gonna sit in that heat it's a big risk! Some people are finding it at TJMaxx, if you have one nearby might be worth checking!
So sad!! I love the original cream skin, nothing else I've tried can take its place. I agree, I only use it during the winter, but I don't think I'll use this new one in the summer anyway, I go to the cosrx propolis toner for my second/thicker toner layer then. Curious what products you'll find to replace og cream skin when the cold weather rolls around.
maybe theyll re - introduce ! thanks for this review , im sure their watching :)
I just tried the new one. Later during my sleep, i feel so itchy and realised there are red bumps on my face! What is going on??
My reactive skin did NOT like it😢 I stocked up on the older formula 🙃
Where did you find the original version if you don't mind me asking?
I stocked up back in April when I ordered it from laneige direct and got a sample of the new formula. After that. I went to my sephora and sephora online. Lol back then even amazon did not have the original anymore. Try ur sephora and online sephora 🤞 I talked with laneige and they told me unopened bottles last 24 months. Lol I bought 8. 😂
That's too bad! I'm hoarding 1 last bottle of the OG!
Can you use this with actives? Like vitamin c serum l ascorbic acid and retinol? If yes, what would go first? Thank you 😊
Are they phasing out the original one?
@@KellyDriscoll oh no. Looks like it's time to hoard 😭
Can be used in pregnancy ? Pls advice thanks
DR. Ceuracles made them step it up
They tried to step up but they tripped! 😪
Ok is there any for other "color" skin? Please. Thanks.
do you stil prefer the dr ceraucle kambucha essence? we have the same skin type. Let me know :-)
I do, it's a little bit different than CSR but it's the closest I know of atm!
Oh no. I hope I can try the og before it’s gone completely or worse supremely overpriced!
Act soon it's been phased out since spring!
@@KellyDriscoll where can i find it Kellz?!
Test Pat Mc Grath Essence. Not cheap..wait for a Sale but it feels the same.
goddd i just have when they reformulate and discontinue my holygrails 🥺🥺🤷🏻♀️
Hi! If im using vitamin c ascorbic acid serum, should i use it before or after cream skin refiner? Thank you 😊
I tried this and I got red marks all over my face
any dupes for the original?
Hi cutie, do you know if they will still sell the orig?
Online retailers are still selling through old stock but as far as I know it's not going to be produced going forwards.
This is so sad to me :( I live in Phoenix and this is an everyday product. I better stock up
This is HIGHLY upsetting...my barrier is currently compromised so I've blowm through my current bottle...I wasn't worried bc I was gonna run out and grab another since its a STAPLE...it's saved my skin in the texas heat and the Icelandic cold...I love the original formula so this is so disheartening
It's really disappointing, back to the drawing board for something similar, I'll definitely share if I find something!
@@KellyDriscoll I was hoping for a video for replacements but didn't want to se demanding! 😂 Gonna try the kombucha toner from dr.ceracule
have you tried celimax?
No, I haven't tried that brand yet!
This applhingbefore or after sunscreen use
SPF is always the last step of skincare!
@@KellyDriscoll thanks
Crazy mad they changed the formulation. 😭😭😭
It's a really confusing choice. on their end!
What’s wrong Kelly?
From the point of view of the average consumer, this story about re-formulating a popular product looks very shady. Retiring a product that many people love is like shooting yourself in the foot. For what? Maybe I'm too suspicious, but maybe they found some very significant flaw in the original formula? Maybe the first version was even dangerous for the skin, so before the noise got up, they decided to discontinue it, but in order to further hype on the glory of the original formula, they made this improved version. Anyway, I don't like this company policy. And I don't even want to try a new product.
I don't like the original version, always just sat on top of my skin, do not absorb
The new version would probably work well for you!
Sincerely,
Original magical formula lover
Bummer! They should of done exactly what you said made 2 versions rich and light BRILLIANT!!! I just got the RNW Essence it’s so lovely!!!!! Have you tried it?
