Hi, I have been trying to make a fitted bodice for more than 6 months now. My upper bust is 5” smaller than my full bust and waist is 5” smaller than my upper bust. I made so many muslins and drafted various methods. I was focusing on adding a bust dart. I came across this video. Finally I learned the problem and this video is the best one that helped me to draft my bodice. Thanks.
Gaping usually occur in people with fuller busts on the neckline or the armhole because their full bust tends to push the fabric forward thereby creating a gap around their neckline and the armhole. Gaping also happens when you cut a low neckline If you are using a bodice block made for the sleeves to make a sleeveless garment you might have some gaping on the armhole.
U Did a good job thanks
This is brilliant, thank you
Thank you ❤️

I'm glad you found it helpful ☺️
Was so hoping it would be in centimeters/metric, but it still helped a lot. (I am teaching myself how to do pattern making)Thank you!
You can use centimetres where I used inches. I'm glad you found it helpful!
Just do conversions. Different cultures use different measurements. Nothing wrong with that.
Hello, thanks for the video, my main question is what is the cause of gaping in the armhole area?

@@imageclothia thank you so much for this reply. Very explanatory.
Thanks for sharing please there any way one can make the dart invisible
You can only move the dart fulness to a new location on the garment.
@@kehindeoni8927 thanks so much, please I need illustration if you don't mind

How about the centre back please? Is it necessary to reduce gaping there too?
