It's a great tribute to a racing legend and there will be many enthusiasts outside the motorcycle world who would love to own this beauty. Monster was also one of Senna's favourite Ducati bikes and 25% goes to the Senna foundation. It's a win win!

I don't really care about the story, I'm just happy to see Duc paint a bike something other than stop sign red for a change. I think it looks pretty groovy.

I think it looks cool. Good to see Ducati do something like this.

Ducati jumping on another brand same as Bentley, Supreme, Lamborghini, various anniversaries etc etc and selling them for £50 - £60k - that I have a problem with and Ducati keep pumping them out. Of course it’s marketing but this collaboration has the approval from the family and 25% goes to the Senna foundation which helps many worthy causes. Great looking bike imo.

I totally agree, but I would go even further. This bike and it's name is put on the same level as the other special editions to commemorate the world championships, Ducati took a standard model, put on it a few parts from their performance catalogue, a nice paint job and multiply by 3 the price tag.
I don't see any differences here, this is a standard Monsters with some parts that anyone could buy from their catalogue, a dedicated paint job and then they'll wait to count the money flowing in their bank account.
I think that probably half of the releases from Ducati are limited editions, so what's the point of buying a limited edition if there's a new batch every year?

I get your point...but if the Senna Foundation's ok with it (they're already making money from his name), Ducati sells bikes, and people want to buy them, it seems like a win/win for everyone.

… but I also think that Yamahas next performance road bike should be the “Yamaha 46” (I.e. something to replace the R1. I think that would be Yamahas “Michael Jordan” moment.

I think if they made 1 or an extremely limited run (maybe 10) and put some unavailable specially made parts… maybe even had artists paint them uniquely, and most importantly used the sale of them to raise money for a Senna foundation / Ducati charitable work… then yes, use the name. But to move standard bikes with standard performance parts and a paint job, at multiples of the price. Just looks grubby to me.

But it's sooooooooo beautiful..... the only problem I see here is the price

You guys need to stop clutching your pearls and get over yourselves. It’s a great looking bike that I’ve placed an order for. I’m 75 and I can no longer ride the real special versions sitting in my garage. It has the traditional upright riding position that my sorry old back now requires. I’ll throw on all the Ducati Performance parts before they’re sold out. But I appreciate you guys pointing out that this is a money making scheme for Ducati. Now you tell me. I’m a fan of Jay Leno’s philosophy; if you can’t be fast, at least be coool! While you guys pontificate about the morality of a Senna Limited Edition, I’ll be stealing the Trophy Girl.

    Sales, aren't morally grounded.
Never whas, and never will be.
The veneration on itself, be it Chuchill or Hitler, isn't morally right to.
It is kind of creepy, enjoying a ride on a bike like that, although the colours might be nice.
But it isn't the Salesdepartment of Ducati loosing it's grip on opportunities, it instead is the buyers intention to become lost.
It is not up to me, to restrict others ideas, as our freedom does not come by restriction at all.
    Have a joyfull ride :-)

The big problem is, it’s not special enough. Should have the V2 engine in it and all the bits that go with that. A proper limited edition bike.
So that tells me it’s just a money making scheme along with allllllll the other bs special/limited edition stuff.
But hey, if people are buying and it’s working for the them then who am I to judge

What you’ve said makes very little sense, it’s difficult to grasp the point your trying to make and it also seems quite contradictory as you state what you think the reason is they’re doing it but refuse to condemn or approve those reasons. Marketing is the art of this age. These brands combining for a colab is fantastic for moto enthusiasts and both parties so what’s not to like? Maybe they could have made a cooler bike yes. But any objections regarding why it’s happening is just petty 'I’m a purist though man' nonsense. And your to afraid to admit it haha

It’s a striking bike. It’s good to see manufacturers do this. My personal point of view is this would have been done in conjunction with the Senna foundation and the family. It’s a big tick for me this bike. It’s like a living testament which is the highest compliment to the great Senna.

What if Ducati was to take some of the money from selling these bikes and donate it in his name to a child charity. Or something like that.

    • @perielio123456789
      @perielio123456789 3 месяца назад

that would be a good thing, unfortunately it is not the case. It was not mention in any of the press releases from both Ducati and Senna foundation that any charity is involved.

Obviously if Senna foundation involved, money goes to charity, ASF do good things in Brazil.

Alf, you're absolutely right on this one.
This is two immoral things, actually, shameless marketing which capitalizes upon the demise of a human person, and the promotion of hero worship... I detest both.
The bike isn't bad, but the HD Pan America CVO is better!
