I don't speak German, so maybe this was mentioned in the video, but I think 15% hydrogen peroxide was too strong. That seems to have caused the 'white bloom' on the SNES plastic.

Nachdem mein geliebtes Originalkauf SNES-Gerät von 1996 dann schließlich 2012 an der Front urplötzlich innerhalb von wenigen Wochen(!) stark vergilbte, hatte ich alles versucht, um die Gilb-Spur loszuwerden...-Nichts half! Hatte mich voll geärgert, da ich die Konsole sehr gepflegt hatte, kein einziger Kratzer war dran und sah aus wie neu, und dies war nun der "Dank"... Dann kam ich auf die Idee, die Konsole komplett auseinander zu nehmen, richtig gründlich zu reinigen, alle wichtigen Anschlüsse und Etiketten präzise abzukleben, nur um die Konsole in mattem Schwarz mehrschichtig auf meinem Balkon zu lackieren mit 3(!) Spraydosen... War zwar etwas mühselig, wegen z.B. kleiner Mücken usw. aber die Geduld zahlte sich aus!!! Ich konnte mein Jugend-SNES nicht einfach aufgeben, allein wegen der Erinnerungen...

Also ich hätte nicht gedacht wenn bleichen so schwer ist gerade wenn das Wasserstoffperoxid 12% so schwer ranzukommen ist aber Gott sei Dank gibt es Internet habe mich heute erst mal schlau gemacht weil in der Apotheke gibt's nur 3 weil 12% ist in Deutschland verboten deswegen musste ich heute mal die Polizei nachfragen ob man das darf im Internet zu bestellen und ja man darf es bestellen und kaufen solange das nicht im Darknet ist habe ich nur gesagt statt mir das kenne ich gar nicht und anderen Blödsinn damit anzustellen mache ich so oder so nicht kenn ich mich nicht mit aus habe ich dir gesagt und möchte ich auch nicht habe ja nur gesagt wenn ich meine alte Spielkonsolen aufhellen möchte dann ist es auch kein Problem😁

Another thing that can apparently cause the blooming is letting the paste dry out, if the treated plastic is left in sunlight. I seem to recall that using a UV lamp doesn't produce much heat, so this lessens the effect. Alternatively, keep reapplying the paste if using sunlight, particularly if it's a hot day.
It's just a mix of both oxygen booster and hydrogen peroxide that has a paste made out of it. It's cheap - you can use cornstarch to thicken the stuff.
Did you remove the "yellowing" on your Amiga after one try or did you good through several Amigas before you get one to look good? I'm basically asking if you went through a lot of Amigas before you got one to look good?
What strength Hydrogen Peroxide was used on the Amiga? I just wanted to avoid ruining an old yellowed system by using Hydrogen Peroxide that is too acidic. I think that is what happened to the snes but I'm no expert on retrobrite.

Hey schade aber glasreiniger hätte auch gereicht beim supernintendo zu reinigen denn ich hab mal supernintendo gehabt und damals war er auch etwas vergilbt und ich hab dann glasreiniger genommen und ihn sauber gemacht und er war danach einiges heller und nicht mehr so vergilbt der sah dann vom Zustand her sehr gut aus schade für dein supernintendo da hätte glasreiniger besser geholfen
Don't make a gel, just the fluid. Put your part into it and stir it sometimes. The SNES overreaction should be the result of different concentration at it's surface. They created the retr0brite gel to minimize the consumption of integrients for large parts as they only cover the surface and don't have to fill an bathtub with hydrogen-peroxide :D Excuse my bad english, retro-greets from germany :D
@froggydarren I bought two 200ml bottles of 9% strength Hydrogen Peroxide, which is close enough to the recommended 10-12% strength, without being too strong and causing bloom. I also got a tub of store own-brand stain-removing powder, the type you put in with clothes washing. Most any with 'Oxy-' in the name should do. The other main ingredient is a thickener; I tried cornflour in the absence of anything better, but it was difficult to work with, I'll try wallpaper paste next time.
Don't buy this retrobright shit. I have no idea what the price was, but the same effect will happen if you use 3% peroxide (about 50 cents at wallmart) and any "Oxy" cleaning product from the dollar store. I used these two ingredients, then coat the plastic parts with a liberal amount of it and place it inside of a bag to prevent the peroxide from evaporating and place everything in direct sunlight sunlight. Anyone on a budget might want to try this method first.
