@@EmmaHynes thank you so much, I’m 15 and want to start playing. May I ask what I’ll need to get started? thanks

@@tianawilliams1959 That’s brilliant! I personally started with an acoustic guitar, and lessons at a local music school. Once you can play one type of guitar though, you can essentially play them all, so there’d be no harm in starting with an electric guitar either. The good thing about the acoustic is that you don’t have to plug it in, you can just pick it up and play. I’ve also found some online tutorials to be good for mastering specific techniques. The hardest part at the start, for me at least on the acoustic, was getting my fingers used to holding down the strings, and speeding up the transition from one chord to another. But, stick at both of those, and you will overcome them. I personally found learning songs I liked really helped me to progress, and to feel I was progressing. Learning chords and techniques is the way to begin, and once you’ve mastered some of those, you could search online for chords for your favourite songs and try to apply what you’ve learned to those. If they’re too difficult at first, that’s okay, they can be something to aspire to and lead you to learn even more new chords and techniques. I would say be patient, practise, stick at it, and absolutely the most important thing of all is to enjoy it!
