NY Trainzchaser 5th anniversary special! A compilation of EMD locomotives in notch 8, including F units, switchers, SD40-2s, GP15s and more. Footage was taken from 2016 to 2021.
Happy fifth anniversary to you and your channel. This compilation was an amazing way to commemorate the date. I really enjoyed watching the variety of railroads featured and the great locations. Thumbs up for the next five years to come!
That opinion would quickly change if you witnessed the dynamic braking and tractive effort of the modern GE units...Older EMD units are good but newer EMD units suck.
Working for Conrail starting back in the late 70-s as a breakman I loved the sound of those EMD SD 40-2,I could listen to those singing in notch 8 In a tunnel. It would. make the hair staind.on my.neck
i love how c.n. keeps their old take over loco s in the colors of companys they took over, iliinis central, the bessemer ,i know i meesed up the spelling
Amazing to think that the SD40-2s are approaching 50 years old and still going strong. I wonder how many of the wunderkind mega power modern locos will be around in 50 years.
Fantastic video! I especially like the shots with the E and F units at the Illinois Railway Museum. I was a kid when they were the most common mainline locomotives.
Guilford would throw together whatever units were running (SD39,SD45,SD26,GP40 etc), on trains coming out of Mohawk Yard. It's all uphill for about 15 miles, and those trains were always heavy and underpowered. Late at night you could hear those trains coming out of the Hudson Valley it seemed like almost forever. You'll never hear that again.
@@NYTrainzchaser What a complete load of crap (no not SCRAP - "crap).. As - a lot of these "so-called" hard working LOCOMOTIVES are barely pulling ANYTHING - let alone a hard pull. Take for example - 9:20 ? TWO LOCOS pulling SIX wagons - is barely a tug - let alone HARD WORK.. Maybe change your video's title to correctly display what you have there. A lot of short (front end) clips - showing a variety of unladen trains - barely pulling anything.
There's ONLY too Other things that sounds and Looks better than a EMD Engine One a Beautiful Woman in Bed Two a Harley Davidson with a set of Drag Pipes on it THAT'S IT!!!!!
I would have to disagree, A Pratt&Whitney R-985 radial aircraft engine would be number 2 or 3 in my book!!!! Nothing sounds like a EMD though! I do like the sounds of the old Alco's too!!!
Those are GP15-1's...The reason why you hear those chugging sounds is because the units are naturally aspirated just like the GP38-2's & SD38-2's.The units use the 12-645E3's just like the GP39-2's & SD39-2's.The only differences are that GP15-1's are N/A like I mentioned but the GP15T's are turbocharged like the GP39-2's & SD39-2's.There also is the GP15AC's which are somewhat rare like the GP38AC's.
Unfortunately no :( they're all scrapped.. The only GP40's left in service are MEC 305 306 307 310 313 315 316 319 321 BM 326 B&M 330 B&M 334 MEC 345 351 & 381. GP40-2LW's left in service are MEC 501 502 503 504 505 506 507 509 510 511 512 514 515 516 517 518. SD40's left are MEC 600 604 606 619 3400 3401 3402 3403 3404 3405. 3405 is former MEC 616.
Fabulous Trains 🚄🚅🚂😍😍😍😍😍😍💵💵💵💵💵🌬️❄️💋🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑😊💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I could listen to this all day! Job well done 👏🏿
Thanks!
Nothing sounds as good as an SD40-2 under load! Great video thanks for sharing!
Wonderful video. The best collection of different loco road schemes I’ve ever seen. Thanks for posting.
Thanks!
Looks like alot of New England scenes. Love it.
Nice compilation, love the B&M MEC Guilford Pan Am units, CSX will probably send them to the junk pile.
Tunnel motors, Love'em 👍👍
Thanks for sharing!!
CSX still uses there SD40-2s
Love the Long Hood Forward Action:)
great train video
Thanks!
Great To See Illinois Central on the Road Again. SD40-2s Forever. ! ! !

Emds are way better than any GEs

5 minute mark notching up- terrific!

Love seeing that locomotive heavy smoke.
Excellent👍👍🍻🍻cheers and beers for EMD's !!!!!!
Outstanding! Love the sound of those locomotives hard at work.
Second time watching. I fear the day Tier 4 engines take over. Smoke and turbo whine...don't get any better!
Glad EMD’s aren’t euro 6 lol
They need to make a EMD white noise sound track !
Amazing to think that the SD40-2s are approaching 50 years old and still going strong. I wonder how many of the wunderkind mega power modern locos will be around in 50 years.
None
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Thank you
Happy 5th, I love the smoking Pan Am! I'm hoping to railfan them in the next couple weeks...
These old EMDs are fire breathing dragons. Billows of smoke. Great video tho

Really Great footage man. Very enjoyable. Thanks for posting!
Thanks!

Awesome! I am definitely an EMD lover!
I always try to get above the engines somehow, since most of the sound comes from the stack.
Great Video, thank you, man, I luv that old EMD's.
Happy 5th 🎉🥳 Great video !! Hope you have many more years of filming. Stay safe and healthy!
Thanks!

We'd go to Pomona California UP ran SD40-2 and DD 40s lashed up. Going 70 miles an hour through town.
Top show at 1:00. Particularly from the fourth unit 🤔 Had it always wanted to be an Alco?

Did they "sneak" in a Alco 251 engine overnight in GP40 #370 !! Lol
Obviously she's got a Turbocharger issue !!
Awesome
Great video, try getting that sound out of a GE, those SD units make my subwoofer thump.
Great video !! 👍👍
Thanks!
Nice video👍
Thanks!
The EMD 16 567 is still common in Denmark and Sweden :D I think it’s special when the F units are out in US right?
The one at 1:43 is getting way too much fuel
Hey, at 21:00, what model are those green locos? Not traditional EMD sounds there. More like tractor locos or Alcos.
They're GP15-1s

that is the name of the horn on the clichfeild f unit called
It's a Nathan M5.
@@NYTrainzchaser thanks
@ 00:55... a high hood GP40 that isn't in southern/NS livery... nice (although i don't think the southern had any GP40s on their roster)
Southern didn't get to order any GP40-2's,only just 257 GP38-2's that all had high hoods of course.
Are any of the Pan Am high hoods still alive??

With this CSX stuff probably no but there is some
The last active high hood was retired a year ago, and since then they have all been scrapped.
These are blowing coal like men with EMDs ....
EMD locomotives speak to you
Is Conrail?
What kind of locomotive is leading the train at 12:20?
An SD40T-2 that was originally built for Southern Pacific and then spent some time on KCS
@@Cenation9740 Ah ok thanks! I should have realized it was an SD-40T but the long nose threw me off
Amazing how poorly
Maintained Guilford units are
No expert but 370 is definitely not a healthy unit. 1:30

Blowing coal like a teenager with a diesel pickup truck. LOve it.
The CSX switch unit is great. Don't see them on the road much.
Mostly stored
That was awesome! Thank you so much for that. Are there still plenty of SD40s floating around in the system?
They have 5 SD40-2s left in the 3400 series.
