What’s the challenge in second language learning after you’ve reached a level of abundant vocabulary is then structure phrases or sentences in a way that native speakers would. Often times I’ll ask myself "how would a native say it?" Because many times we transliterate our thoughts from our native language into our target language and the result comes out sounding incorrect. But thanks for this video I’ve been looking forward to it!
Byron Vasquez Jr. Yes it’s hard to make that step from being understandable to speaking in a way that sounds natural. Still if people can understand you that’s huge.
When you are bilingual, it depends on which language has been the last on you heard, how nervous you are etc. If you dont really live steadily in one place, both languages mix, exactly the way it happens here. If he stayed for six month straight in France, he wouldnt be american on certain words, ... and would sound french on certain words back in the States. I like your reactions! I took French in college. When I went to France, I could read signs and museum labels very well, and that was fun. Creating sentences was very hard, but especially when I was on my own, I just jumped in, admitted I was not very good, and people were so helpful! Timothee Chalamet's sister lives in Paris and acts in French films. I'd guess that is where he picks up how younger people speak!
parkviewmo Greetings. I am from Toronto, Canada and learned French in elementary and high school. I could always read and write in French but my oral language skills was average. Then I signed up for Rocket Languages in 2012 , similar to Rosetta Stone and I found it very helpful to brush up on my conversational skills. I was in Paris in 2013 and I spoke French half the time. I understood the Parisians and they said my French was good!
Damn, your English is top turkey! Thank you, Great vid. You should teach pronunciation guides for French people to English 'cause your English pronunciation is absolutely perfect.
Oh my God I love these videos they are So helpful for fine-tuning and testing my ear. Also I got very happy when I guessed right about allez voir film ! thank you! Okay that you review celebrities that are both very good and not as good because we can learn different things from each of them. Also this gives me a chance to practice the little nuances .
I'm a Scot and I live in France. I speak French every day with my workmates. Even French people say things like "les femmes...ils". French people make mistakes with language just as British and Americans but probably much less as French is a very organised language, unlike English which is very loose. In French, you may get an error of gender of a noun or not using the subjunctive when required but you will never come across an error like "I would of" instead of "I would have".
english is not my native language, but I'd like to say that I'm pretty fluent. but when I have to speak with a native english speaker or in an english-speaking country I get really nervous. I'm learning french for over a year now and I still struggle a lot but it's a really interesting language!
ow glad to hear that you try even when it can be hard. you know even though I'm "fluent" in English, I still get nervous sometimes when I speak the language. I love speaking English but I get selfconscious and start making crazy mistakes lol so it's part of the process I guess, especially if you don't practice speaking the language that you're learning with other people regularly.
I would very much like to hear your assessment of Steve Kauffman speaking french! He’s a famous polyglot with a ton of videos on youtube. He learned it as an adult. A bientôt.... C from Denmark ♥️🇫🇷🇩🇰🙏😊
StreetFrench.org great! I’ll look forward to that 😊 There are several polyglots whom I know of that might be interesting checking out: Luca Lampariello, Lindie Botes,....
I don't know if you said it but Timothée's accent sounds pretty French to me even if he has grammatical mistakes which it's obvious because French is his second language, I think he is completely fluent.
I watched your video with Jodie Foster, and I remember being unable to understand a word, however, since I have taken a trip to Montreal, I can understand just over half of this video, and almost half of the other one! By the way, my family that lives in Montreal don't speak québécois.
French speaking learning dutch here, i really struggle with noun genders in dutch (there is a neutral Het and a masculin/feminine/plural De in dutch and even though there are rules to it i always fall on an exception and i always get it wrong) and to me using genders properly just comes up with practice and it's one way you can really see if that person is using the language on a regular basis or not because it's just so hard to get right when you're not native to the language and so hard to get wrong when you are
aah you're welcome :) if you like it I made other ones about jodie foster, keanu reeves, bradley cooper and joseph gordon levitt :)) here's the playlist : ruclips.net/video/PUCOAIWpnNo/видео.html

Hmm he is fluent Well he Speaks like a youngster We tend to talk quick as we don't Pronounciate all the words like in classic french Il est plus habituer a l'anglais mais Il parle bien français
hi ! ah no I haven't yet because her French is so perfect that I don't know what to say lol it's like reacting to a French person haha but it's still on the list and we'll figure something out :)
You misheard Chalomet at around 3.30. He was using an Anglicism-"comme 'fan' de film"-whereas he should have used the French slang "comme fana (< fanatique) du film."
Question when saying je nai jamais you slur and it sounds like the n is not pronounced is this correct ? You should definitely make vids like this, this is one of the most difficult parts in french in my opinion :) thanks lots glad i found this vid :)
R.I.P. Timothee and Lily-Rose. I did like him in Little Women. I’ve also been a fan of Vanessa Paradis as I became a fan of Johnny Depp and love her music. Even if I don’t understand what she said. You remind me of Cara Danvers in Supergirl. I went to Paris in 2018 as part of my honeymoon and fell in love with it!
ah yeah all these people made either really cool movies or music :) that's funny for Cara Danvers, it must be the glasses lol and great to hear you love Paris, it's a great place I understand :)
ah yeah it takes time. It depends how you study French too.. Are you just learning by yourself with textbooks ? or only taking classes that teach you grammar and theory. if so, that's not enough. To be able to speak a language you need to practice speaking the language. you can't just rely on studying alone in your room or in a classroom. you need to go outside, meet people online, practice improvising in conversations, make a ton of mistakes, learn from your mistakes, and don't focus too much on accent. Accent can take years and years and maybe you'll never sound perfect, that's not important. what's important is to be able to hold a conversation, understand what people are telling you and to make yourself understood by others :)) it's a long process but it becomes so much more fun and worthwhile when you make friends along the way ^^

ah yeah thanks! :)
“Hes clearly bilingual” can both be an offense and a compliment
I am currently learning french, as well as Latvian. The reason for Latvian is my dad was originally from Latvia, having who is of a different language, it doesn't mean that the children will know the other parent's language.
You should do a video on Ikenna’s French. He’s a polyglot who can speak 13 languages . He has a RUclips under that name, without the ‘s of course
ah gerat idea :)
English is my first language but i struggle to speak it anyways, especially in social context and definitely will if i ever do a talk show...
I love how she corrects her little English mistakes with those notes on screen. She's clearly a perfectionist like me hahaha... :)
hahaha yeah I see all the mistakes I make when I edit the videos haha
yes!!! part 2 s'il vous plaît!!
ok !! :):)
Thanks! I really like how encouraging you are.
Can you also react to Olga Kurylenko, Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton, Evangeline Lilly and Freddie Highmore speaking French?
ah glad you enjoy what we do :) yeah great Idea, we'll check them out :)
At 3:30 I think he is saying he is a "fan" of film. Inserting the English word.
Thanks Maia, I love this serie you make 👌👌
ah cool you're welcome! and thanks for your comment :):)
You should do a video of Edgar Ramirez ( point break) speaking French also shakira. I speak Spanish, English, Some good Italian and I'm struggling with the Portuguese from Brazil 🇧🇷 but the pronunciation is giving me hard time but I think French is harder..Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴.
ah great idea ! I'll try to find videos of them speaking French :)
watching your videos which i just found out yesterday...makes me miss france so much...though i just came back last week...but in all the words i tried learning...one thing i will never forget is poubelle...lol
haha glad you enjoy our vids :)
yeah exactly ☺️
Thank you,
Great vid.
You should teach pronunciation guides for French people to English 'cause your English pronunciation is absolutely perfect.
I love your channel. I learn a lot!
Awesome, thank you! :)
Awesome!
ok ! :):)
Votre chaîne est super intéressante ! I’m French and love your videos! A new subscriber here haha 😂
ah cool merci ☺☺
Super interesting and useful videos, keep it up!
ah thanks! :):)
I love these!
☺☺
This was a great video! I would be curious to know what you think of Bradley Cooper's french. I think he learned in college but to me, he seems fluent
ah great suggestion, I actually already made a video on his French check it out here :
ruclips.net/video/98f5oVYbToc/видео.html
Oh my God I love these videos they are So helpful for fine-tuning and testing my ear. Also I got very happy when I guessed right about allez voir film ! thank you! Okay that you review celebrities that are both very good and not as good because we can learn different things from each of them. Also this gives me a chance to practice the little nuances .
ow so happy to see you commented on each video of the series! Makes me want to make videos to get more of your feedback haha^^
@@Street_French I just followed you on ig too!! :)
I switch to English very often and I am born and raised and have always lived in Sweden
I would very much like to hear your assessment of Steve Kauffman speaking french! He’s a famous polyglot with a ton of videos on youtube. He learned it as an adult. A bientôt.... C from Denmark ♥️🇫🇷🇩🇰🙏😊
ah ok I'll check him out :):)
StreetFrench.org great! I’ll look forward to that 😊 There are several polyglots whom I know of that might be interesting checking out: Luca Lampariello, Lindie Botes,....
....and Lina Vasquez! I look forward to your view on those. Bonne chance! 🇫🇷♥️😄
@@MegaThepostman cool, I'll check them out^^
StreetFrench.org ....and Justin Trudeau, please!!! 🇨🇦😆😅😂🤣
I don't know if you said it but Timothée's accent sounds pretty French to me even if he has grammatical mistakes which it's obvious because French is his second language, I think he is completely fluent.
I am a student in a college who learn about french language, wish i could speak french fluently
I watched your video with Jodie Foster, and I remember being unable to understand a word, however, since I have taken a trip to Montreal, I can understand just over half of this video, and almost half of the other one! By the way, my family that lives in Montreal don't speak québécois.
ow cool that's amazing if you made such good progress :):)
French speaking learning dutch here, i really struggle with noun genders in dutch (there is a neutral Het and a masculin/feminine/plural De in dutch and even though there are rules to it i always fall on an exception and i always get it wrong) and to me using genders properly just comes up with practice and it's one way you can really see if that person is using the language on a regular basis or not because it's just so hard to get right when you're not native to the language and so hard to get wrong when you are
That’s sooooo interesting thank u so much
aah you're welcome :) if you like it I made other ones about jodie foster, keanu reeves, bradley cooper and joseph gordon levitt :))
here's the playlist :

if you want to do this kind of vid again, would love to see you react to Kristin Scott Thomas.
Awesome video!
thanks !:):)
Thankfully, love you always 💖💝✌️🤗, See you again, thanks you 💖
thank you for watching 🤗🤗
I was dying to see this video I think he’s AMAZING but since it’s not my first language I couldn’t really tell if it’s just his perfect face distracting me
haha :):)
We went to the same school❤❤❤
ah nice! :))
Why is it so fascinating to hear a frenchman speak French?
haha people asked in the comments that I react to him ^^ and his bilingual and mainly speaks English so no he's not totally French ^^
Hmm he is fluent
Well he Speaks like a youngster
We tend to talk quick as we don't
Thank you! Love timmy
Part II !!!! 😀
:):)
I think he said fan des films, as in fan in english
ah yeah I think so too after listening to it again :)
J'aime Timothee chalamet 💕
:))
You can do a similar video for "Kalki Koechlin", perhaps. She's an Indian actress :)
ah yeah ok cool ! :):)
Have you reacted to Kristin Scott Thomas by chance? I know that she quite often acts in French films...it would be interesting to hear your review!👍🏻
hi ! ah no I haven't yet because her French is so perfect that I don't know what to say lol it's like reacting to a French person haha
but it's still on the list and we'll figure something out :)
ah super ! :)
(cette* vidéo)
@@Street_French ouais merci 😍
You misheard Chalomet at around 3.30. He was using an Anglicism-"comme 'fan' de film"-whereas he should have used the French slang "comme fana (< fanatique) du film."
yeah true, it didn't make sense the first time I heard it but that's probably what he meant :) my bad!
Question when saying je nai jamais you slur and it sounds like the n is not pronounced is this correct ? You should definitely make vids like this, this is one of the most difficult parts in french in my opinion :) thanks lots glad i found this vid :)
ah yeah so "je n'ai jamais" when slurred becomes, "jn'ai jamais" or just "j'ai jamais"
StreetFrench.org thank you !
I would like for you to review Billy Crawford's (Filipino actor/singer) interview on that same French talk show. Thanks
Perhaps it would be interesting to have a look at someone with a good level of French but with a less polished accent - for example Jane Birkin?
ah yeah great idea :)
:):)
8:13 you have a natural beauty and a wonderful way about you. I love your videos.
R.I.P. Timothee and Lily-Rose. I did like him in Little Women. I’ve also been a fan of Vanessa Paradis as I became a fan of Johnny Depp and love her music. Even if I don’t understand what she said. You remind me of Cara Danvers in Supergirl. I went to Paris in 2018 as part of my honeymoon and fell in love with it!
ah yeah all these people made either really cool movies or music :) that's funny for Cara Danvers, it must be the glasses lol
and great to hear you love Paris, it's a great place I understand :)
Lil timmy in little Women is horrible cause he betrays jo😭😭
viggo mortensen also speak very good french, u should made a video of him, i dont thing his level is bilingual like timote
i’ve been trying to learn french for almost 7 years and CANT seem to pick it up
ah yeah it takes time.
Accent can take years and years and maybe you'll never sound perfect, that's not important. what's important is to be able to hold a conversation, understand what people are telling you and to make yourself understood by others :))
it's a long process but it becomes so much more fun and worthwhile when you make friends along the way ^^
Awwww thank youuu💓💓💓
:))))
Hi! Could you please consider doing one of these videos for Audrey Hepburn speaking French?
ah yeah great idea :))
