  • In this video I share how to light the popoxcomitl/sahumador in the way I have been taught. I have been taught by many Sahumadoras, some elders, community within and outside the tradition. I am not here to tell you who can and cannot light the fire. Copal and the sahumador are sacred tools used to connect with the heart, honor the ancestors, and for prayer. The more intention you put into everything you do, the more meaning life begins to reflect. You get to choose what path you walk. May your fire always burn strong. Before you light, make sure you have your ixcualmecatl (headband) and faja/señidor.
SOME WORDS OF CAUTION, before you light your fire, only light when you have taken safety measures. Bring water, and make sure not to light in nature during fire season, always ask permission from the land and the protectors. Also this type of fire with charcoal is not meant to be sustained indoors due to carbon monoxide. Never leave your fire unattended.
I hope this video helps you on your learning journey.

Thank you for watching, I think there aren't more because there's a lot of caution involved. I am trying to be as respectful as I can be.
