I hope that someone can answer this question, but isn't there some kind of potential for contamination on the connections made for the air hoses?

Well, there always is, but its very mild. all the air goes trough special vents with filters.

i may be wrong, but air id being pumped positive-pressure, meaning the gap will just result in air getting pushed out, not in.

Are the HEPA Filters burnt? How often are they replaced?
