Trying to imagine what a Frontline combat soldier endured during the war is difficult at best. Many men were conscripted and plucked from their daily lives and thrust into the bowels of hell. Fighting and killing in a world of fire, terror and death.. for what? For a cause? Political elites? For the human instinct to survive? For little or nothing millions died. To be awarded a medal was something. At the very least it was recognition. Perhaps a trivial token award, but it was something. It gave some meaning to the insanity of a war, the killing, and suffering endured. To those who were not there, perhaps these medals mean nothing, but to those who were there, those medals (the medals deserved, not ones issued between officers) represent something and have meaning to those who were there.
The disillusioned leadership in Berlin. Awarded the knights cross the same way Moscow awarded the red star 🌟. Just a false symbol of patriotism. Berlin & Moscow cared less about the predicaments/casualties of it's military personnel.
My Silver Star is in it's box in a safe in a locked closet. But it's mine I earned it and I'm proud of it.

If you're going to use copyrighted material you should at least list the author and book at each video so that people can go out and buy the book themselves. I know some of these are from smaller diaries and they're not copyrighted but a lot of them are from books that the author had to take time to create and should thus be compensated.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Picture depicts intense fire 🔥💥 fight. Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. The Russians had the advantage of not having a 2 front war to contend with. Along with military hard ware support from Britain & U.S.. Not to mention an inexhaustible supply of infantry replacements. Stalin 😈 would at least consider his generals military operations advice. As the WW-1 dispatch runner 🏃 corporal Hitler 😈 wouldn't.
I feel sorry for the Russians when I listen to this.
I know medals are important but these guys seem really enthralled by the Knight's Cross or whatever. They don't sound very realistic.
There were 2 ceremonial types of crosses. One of metal/one of wood. By war's end the dear dead😇 departed. Received both by the millions.😉
Getting awarded for killing people has always seemed wrong to me on every level . Ok war is the extension of failed politics , but glorifying someone’s ability to kill for others failure is totally unnecessary

The greatest failure of humanity is the glorification of war and awarding stupid medals...
Most of these men lived with emotional scars that all they had at the end was some shinning trinkets...
