  • A video showing how to build a bespoke or custom radiator cover.
The size of radiator cover we needed was not available to buy off the shelf, so we decided to build our own.
Hope you will enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it and do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
Many thanks and feel free to check out my other videos.

How did you screw the bracket to the wall? Looks like it would be hard to get anything to do it with the frame already assembled?

Great... for keeping the sides attached your method better than wooden dowels or biscuit joint???

      Thanks!
No, not necessarily better. I don't have a tool for biscuit joints, so used a different method.

Came out great…. I will follow your lead. What type of paint? Is it heat resistant? Thank you

      Thanks!
I used MDF primer and basic matt white water based paint. It's been more than a year with no heat related deterioration signs.

Hi what size radiator cover is that coz your radiator looks like it's a medium size one thanks?

It is a medium size radiator, but installed too high for an off-the-shelf radiator cover.

This is a great idea! I am going to try this for the in-wall type baseboard radiators I have. Question: How did you attach the top? Screws, or just glue?

      Thanks!
The top is just sitting (not fixed) on the frame with three small pieces of MDF attached at the bottom to prevent it from sliding either way.
Hope it helps and good luck with your project.

What is the name of the red tool you used to get cut out of skirting.

Profile gauge or contour duplicator gauge.

Great idea. Just wondering what thickness of MDF board did you use? Is there any issue with it warping or any burning smell with the heat from the radiator?

      Thanks!
I used 18mm MDF. No warping to date nor any smells. I think majority of off-the-shelf radiator covers are made from MDF.
      Hope it helps.

How did you attach it to the wall?

    • @DIY_it_ALL
      @DIY_it_ALL  3 года назад

I used small 90 degree corner brackets. One side attached to a wall, the other side to the radiator cover.
