A quick update on a very sunny day to show how the mirror is reflecting the sun onto the shaded area of garden by casting a shadow with my hand #Shorts
I was doing this for my persimmon tree, when my daughter-in-law made me aware of a study that she read when researching the effect of sunlight on birds as part of her work at the zoo. The mirror will not reflect UV light effectively, so doing this will not benefit your garden. It certainly won't hurt, but will not be effective in promoting plant growth.
I've done this with parabolic mirrors before, you can get old satellite dishes for free and add a reflective surface, e.g. aluminum tape or mirror tiles. Cheap heliostat, also doubles as solar cooker, but concave mirrors are also a lot more dangerous.
Is that making a difference on grass growth? I'm planning to do the same, found your video searching for convex mirror sunlight. What's the size of your mirror and what about using 2 or even 3 mirrors to boost the light patch?
The mirror is about 2 feet wide. One mirror could be mounted with the pole in a bush. I didn't want to add any more because the poles would be a little bit too obvious.
The mirror is made of reflective plastic and it has discoloured with the rain, so it will need replacing. It helped a little bit to improve the light along the fence.
I tried it and I can confirm it works really well!!
Did it work? Did it make any significant difference?
I just bought one, hoping it works on the part of the part of my lawn that is too shaded in winter
Did it work?

UV light is not needed by plants which is why plants can grow behind windows which block UV light.

Awesome ideas.
How’s the mirror going? Does the mirror help your plants?

its a really good invention, also the funny part is that the sun is getting sunburn😂
Great idea
Mmm, might have to nick one from a elderly home village 😛.
God help the pilots flying overhead😂
dont use a curving outward mirror. use a flat or curving inward mirror and more light ill focus on your plant
Don't make it too direct tho, it'll scorch it 😅
Not great advice. We’re talking about giving a plant a little bit of extra light, not generating enough light for solar power or heating something
Nice
how is it working? I have the same problem with my fence
But the reflexed light moves as the sun moves.
What is this mirror called? There is no sunlight in our house, how do we get sunlight?
I searched for something like traffic blind spot convex mirror
@@StuartDWrightyour idea is interesting, but your mirror is not focusing light
Use mirror instead
It appears I took a wrong turn and hit a dead end in youtube
this is useless i tried it before
Great idea
