hey girl! long time watcher, so glad you got a cat! some unsolicited advice from a cat owner of 18+ years: the litter box- doesn’t need the pad in there and should at minimum have 2-3 inches covering the bottom! heights- somewhere high, like a shelf with a small bed or a taller cat tree would be good for her, especially with other animals roaming. it’s a place for her to feel safe at, being able to watch the whole room, and is her own (no bunny scent on it.) without someplace like this, even the sweetest cats can get aggressive. this is more so my own advice, but practice touching her paws and brushing her with a flea comb while she’s young. makes it way easier to clip nails, and when fleas eventually happen, way easier to get rid of them! a lot of people think they’ll never get fleas but don’t realize that a squirrel, a rat, a mouse, a bird passing by a window, hell even on your shoes can pick one up and that’s all it takes. ESPECIALLY since you’re bringing her outside. outside- cats are homebodies, but you seem to really want to bring her outside. get a harness. even if you’re putting her in the stroller, if she doesn’t like it she WILL find a way out. i’d avoid taking her out all together though- DTLA isn’t the place for a cat.
Lol Twinelle, as someone who had to do a crash course of having an puppy, i would suggest doing short walks with the stroller before extended outings so that she can get used to it. Also, cats typically like to be at home for the most part so i think its fine having her home.
OMGG girl she escapes from inside of the stroller! There’s two gaps where the top pieces connect to the stroller poles and she was smart enough to find them and wiggle out of. I need to find a way to seal those before we do any stroller outings again but I might just stroll her around inside my apartment to increase her confidence and comfort then we will go outside again. Literally after our Ross adventure I broke down cause I was so stressed😭
It’s day 7 with her now and she’s already a lot more calm! I’m thinking maybe she was just excited and curious about her new environment. Today she slept almost all day and I was lil concerned at first thinking she was sick but google says kittens her age sleep about 18 hours a day!😮

your new kitty is actually very intelligent! the way she followed your hand signal to step back at 2:18 shows she listens to you. Especially since she is a kitten and is more receptive at that age, the easier she will be to train. Also, I would introduce kitty and your bunnies slowly to each other, if you can. maybe set up a doggie gate separating them and allowing them to get used to each others scent, that way they aren't in each others personal space/overstep each others boundaries. They seem to be interacting well with each other though! 🥰 congrats!
Def look into potentially getting a microchip too - could be extra back up if she gets out! There’s also collar attachments with the little air tags I think as well !
Oooo yes fs! We’re scheduling her vet appointment for her shots soon so we’ll make sure to get her microchipped. Does she need to wear a collar 24/7? Or only when she goes out?
Ohhhhh this gives me hope!!! I saw this combo on TikTok and since my black bunny Nori does not like literally absolutely does not get along with other bunnies I wanted to give a cat a try. And her whole demeanor is just different! Nori doesn’t bite or lunge the kitten. We’ve set up speed dating with other buns and Nori is notorious for biting and displaying dominance. She even gives my groomer major sass and will bite/grunt/lunge at her. She’s curious and last night we all hung out in the living room watching tv. It was the best!!! I’m just glad Nori isn’t alone now🥹
you’re new baby is so cute! as a mother to 4 cats i will say that (at least in my experience) the older they get and the more friends they have the less dependent they are on you. my babies still love to be in my presence and get attention but for the most part they’re pretty independent. after her and nori get more acquainted in sure she won’t be as attached at the hip! but again this is just from my experience from having grown up with cats and having four of my own rn! best of luck to you and i just know you’re going to love being a cat mom!
All the bunnies are getting along with her but they aren’t hanging out quite yet. Nori (black bunny) is the closest to her in terms of relationship and physical distance lol like just this morning the kitty girl greeted Nori with a head and body rub🥹but no one is grooming each other yet

I like the name Miso from the comments ^.^ if you're going to take her out, I recommend a harness even if she's just in the stroller. you could clip her in so she can't escape! also a collar and name tag with your phone number on it, plus get her microchipped at the vet. cats can get so easily spooked and run off and it can be difficult to get them back

Lolol you’re not wrong!!! I never saw myself as a cat person and as much as I want a dog, realistically they just don’t mesh with lifestyle or my bunny babies. I needed independent type pets and surprisingly cats do really well with bunnies so kinda just worked out!

Girllll you’re telling me! She learned how to escape from inside the stroller while we were in Ross so I had to hold her the entire time. Yessss! Hey Danielle, make sure you get pet insurance!!!!!!!! PLEASE!! It makes it so much easier if (when) something happens. I have Trupanion and the way their plans work is that once you meet the deductible for a condition it’s met for the life of the pet. Really saved our asses when my cat developed a skin condition that requires lifelong medicine. Your kitten is beautiful and so sweet. 💖
Oh shoot! Okay I’ll have to look into pet insurance. I have a friend who is strongly against pet insurance because she pays a certain amount a month and when her cat needed medical help, her insurance plan didn’t cover the expenses. Hi! Love your new kitty ❤❤ I'm a cat mom and I've done a lot of research into cat behavior and care. It's so fun learning their behavior because when you apply it, your relationship with them will grow so much and you can tell they appreciate it. One tip for bonding with her: when shes relaxed and happy try "slow blinking" at her (like blinking both eyes slowly at the same time) since that's how cats tell each other they love and trust one another. She will likely do it back at you and it's just the sweetest. Just some safety tips: those plastic cat backpacks have been shown to dangerously overheat your pet (and I'd imagine that would be even easier in LA) but the stroller is 👍, get her a properly fitting cat harness instead of a collar since they can slip out of a collar easily and also get stuck on things and not be able to breathe, definitely avoid collars with bells since their hearing is so so sensitive, if she ends up not drinking a lot of water (like many cats) you can help her hydrate by trying a cat fountain and feeding more wet food than dry, and if you have and string laying around or even cat toys with string then be sure to pick them up when you leave the room because they can swallow it and have major health issues. Also, kittens not adopted with another kitten can suffer from what's called "single kitten syndrome" where they might act out or be a bit aggressive since they don't have a playmate to get the energy out with and learn from (like what's play and what's mean). Last tip! When harness training, start them young and try it for short amounts of time with rewards and play to teach her it's a fun thing. She might do the funny thing where she forgets how to walk when the harness goes on, but motivate her to chase something and she'll get the hang of it over time. You're absolutely right about the independent cat thing not always being true. Mine is a 3 y.o. boy kitty and hes my cuddly little shadow 24/7

Cats are usually a handful for the first two years until theyre fully grown. when shes a proper adult cat shell most likely calm down and become a lot more chill and independent, but until then she will be quite the task to handel. shes a baby after all

If you’re ever worried about her claws being sharp and snagging on clothes or scratching others or if the kitty is not a fan of having her nails trimmed, you could consider claw caps. They’re covers that go over claws with a little bit of nail glue, and then they fall off once the claw sheds the outer layers.
She is a calico tabby I also have one called Amber. Sushi would be a cute name for her. Cats are very happy being left at home they sleep alot. By her a harness and lead so you don't loose her when you carry her. When cats get scared they bite and scratch and she could get loose. She will get more independent they are actually very bunny like.

Yes, you need more litter in the box. Cats bury their "deposits" to cover the scent. You need at least 2" in the whole box. Cats are not pack animals, they prefer to be alone. They are much happier home than out in public areas. You have a real beauty, a calico, and she seems very bright. Kittens explore and will get into anything and everything. Some love to knock things off shelves, some play with wires, some like to find high, tight hiding places. Shut doors on rooms with computers or anything valuable but just leave her at home. She will be just fine.

Hilarious on the excavation comment of the litter box lol! I would lose the pad/liner and just fill the bottom up with 2" of litter. Cats like to dig for their business. I buy the same litter, but the scent free version. Well formed poos there...strangely, this will tell you a lot if there's change in their health. Tiki cat is a great food brand too! She will be well hydrated on a wet food diet :) For the future, if you see excessive water drinking, it will be an indicator of uti which will need a vet visit. My girly get's them often unfortunately. Congrats, she's such a cutie!!

hello!! I have a cat myself and wanted to suggest pellets as a litter alternative in case u ever need one. They come in huge bags for super cheap and they’re really easy to clean. I also suggest make a really tall tower since they like feeling superior to other living things including us😅. There also little hammocks that can be attached to windows that are super nice and affordable. I don’t shower my cat super often but what I do use is safe cat cleaning foam and I just like to rub it into my cat. And just one more thing, if u ever feel like ur cat isn’t drinking as much water as they should, u should definitely invest in a stainless steel running water fountain. It really helps to keep them hydrated since most cats die of urinary blockage due to not enough water intake. I loveeeee your videos and if you ever need help I’m sure me as well as many others would love to send gifts to her. Also some name suggestions, kinoko (mushroom), Miso (soy bean paste), or Nori (seaweed).

lol with so many free roaming animals I’m kinda forced to keep clean cause otherwise things will get chewed on. The only space that gets pretty messy is my film room but now with lil kitten girl I’m gonna have to keep it clean more often. Yessss highly recommend adopting! We adopted my Stitchy girl and I’m so proud to see her growth in confidence. She and her brother were found in crates full of their own pee and feces with super matted fur. She was soooo shy and scared of men. And now she’s living her best life and has the world’s softest fur!🥰✨

When we saved Nori she was always interested in the other buns but she actually would cuddle and sleep with me until we spayed her. Then she became super aggressive, territorial, and distant😔
Seeing you handle her outside without a harness and leash gave me so much anxiety. You're lucky she didn't get spooked and ran away. Also, yes, cats are fairly independent, kitties on the other hand, need A LOT of attention, that's why it's usually recommended to get a bonded pair as a first time cat owner. But you have other animals, so she could bond with one of them. And last piece of unsolicited advice (sorry 😅) - trim her nails if you don't want to be constantly bleeding, even if you don't play with her with your hands (which you shouldn't) Anyway, as time passes you'll learn more and more, that's part of the experience and it's both frustrating and fun, so enjoy :D
OMGGG she’s been with us for 4 days now and the amount of scratches on my body is wild! She’s tiny but her claws are SHARP and PAINFUL! Tbh I’m scared to clip her nails because I once accidentally hurt Dumpling and made him bleed so I have a professional groomer come in every two months. Could I buy her a scratchboard instead? Or is there any other way to dull her nails besides trimming?😭
@@twinelle I've had cats for 10 years now so I don't really remember the fear of accidentally hurting my baby. Best advice is - try to be careful but if you nip too much nail, it's not the end of the world. Your cat will forget about it by dinner time (cold, I know, but you just get used to it I guess) Also, 2 months between trimming means you'll be safe for two weeks and get scratched for the next month and a half. If you want the trimming to go smoothly, introduce treats while you're handling her paws, so she has a nice association with it.
@@umbralunea That would prevent the cat from scratching on their cat trees and they need to scratch stuff, it's a way of territory claiming. Remember, pets are just animals we force to live under our conditions. The least we can do is make those conditions as close to their natural way of life as possible.

If you're looking for a cute Japanese food name I'd love to suggest Hachimitsu, which means honey. Hachi is bee and mitsu is sugar. Girllll I switched over to the pellets and same day she pooped in the bunnies litter and peed in my bed😭didn’t even touch her litter once! We switched back to the sand type litter and she’s back to great potty habits again😪

I really wish I could’ve taken her to test out different strollers because the one I got she easily escapes from. There’s two gaps that she found inside the stroller and she literally wiggles her entire body out of it so since she kept trying to escape I had to choice but to hold her😭

Mochi was my first thought but here are some other cute Japanese food names for the girly: Azuki (red bean), Anzu (apricot), Momo (peach), Kuri (chestnut), Yuzu, and Tofu! You should watch some Jackson Galaxy videos on how to take care of her, super informative! :) Cats can get really stressed when you bring them outside, she doesn't need it but if you really want to do it please please please microchip her and get her a harness (way better than a collar), also please spay her if you haven't already!
i really hope this doesnt scare you, i'm just trying to be real with you. you have to be SO CAREFUL with kitties and small animals. never let them be in the same space unsupervised for at least the first few months or until theyre socialised & adjusted. cats have natural prey drive instincts that can be triggered by the smallest of things. remember, kitty claws are sharp! she can do a lot more damage to your buns than they can to her
Absolutely! The lil kitty girl stays in the bedroom by herself when I’m working and when I’m free, we have kitty and bunny bonding sessions every afternoon🐈🐇✨

@@twinellethey keep themselves clean, if they ever get messy just use a pet safe wipe like you said. Most cats are really scared and can be traumatized by being bathed. I left another comment elsewhere but #1 RECOMMENDATION get pet insurance for her. It will be so worth it.
@@twinelle Yes keep documenting😹 And no I don’t bathe my cats now because I feel like they don’t need it and also it’s not recommended to breathe your cats too often because it strips them of their natural oils and can dry out their skin and also damage their coat, but if they do get dirty then yes a bath is necessary. Also it’s SUPER not recommended to bathe them as kittens because they get cold very easily because they can’t regulate their body temperature that well yet. I did bathe my cats when they were kittens only because they had fleas but other than that baths aren’t too necessary! I do know some people bathe their cats every couple of months or like 2-3 times a years which is not bad and can help them get rid of their excess fur aswell! For the most part yes they do clean themselves💗 if you do want to use wipes I would get some safe cat wipes because when you put something on their coat like if water splashes on their fur they instantly want to clean that part so if you use something that has unsafe ingredients your cat can digest it :(

And her whole demeanor is just different! Nori doesn’t bite or lunge the kitten. We’ve set up speed dating with other buns and Nori is notorious for biting and displaying dominance. She even gives my groomer major sass and will bite/grunt/lunge at her. She’s curious and last night we all hung out in the living room watching tv. It was the best!!! I’m just glad Nori isn’t alone now🥹

you’re new baby is so cute! as a mother to 4 cats i will say that (at least in my experience) the older they get and the more friends they have the less dependent they are on you. my babies still love to be in my presence and get attention but for the most part they’re pretty independent. after her and nori get more acquainted in sure she won’t be as attached at the hip! but again this is just from my experience from having grown up with cats and having four of my own rn! best of luck to you and i just know you’re going to love being a cat mom!
All the bunnies are getting along with her but they aren’t hanging out quite yet. Nori (black bunny) is the closest to her in terms of relationship and physical distance lol like just this morning the kitty girl greeted Nori with a head and body rub🥹but no one is grooming each other yet

Hey Danielle, make sure you get pet insurance!!!!!!!! PLEASE!! It makes it so much easier if (when) something happens. I have Trupanion and the way their plans work is that once you meet the deductible for a condition it’s met for the life of the pet. Really saved our asses when my cat developed a skin condition that requires lifelong medicine.

I have a friend who is strongly against pet insurance because she pays a certain amount a month and when her cat needed medical help, her insurance plan didn’t cover the expenses. Hi! Love your new kitty ❤❤ I'm a cat mom and I've done a lot of research into cat behavior and care. It's so fun learning their behavior because when you apply it, your relationship with them will grow so much and you can tell they appreciate it. One tip for bonding with her: when shes relaxed and happy try "slow blinking" at her (like blinking both eyes slowly at the same time) since that's how cats tell each other they love and trust one another. She will likely do it back at you and it's just the sweetest. Just some safety tips: those plastic cat backpacks have been shown to dangerously overheat your pet (and I'd imagine that would be even easier in LA) but the stroller is 👍, get her a properly fitting cat harness instead of a collar since they can slip out of a collar easily and also get stuck on things and not be able to breathe, definitely avoid collars with bells since their hearing is so so sensitive, if she ends up not drinking a lot of water (like many cats) you can help her hydrate by trying a cat fountain and feeding more wet food than dry, and if you have and string laying around or even cat toys with string then be sure to pick them up when you leave the room because they can swallow it and have major health issues. Also, kittens not adopted with another kitten can suffer from what's called "single kitten syndrome" where they might act out or be a bit aggressive since they don't have a playmate to get the energy out with and learn from (like what's play and what's mean). Last tip! When harness training, start them young and try it for short amounts of time with rewards and play to teach her it's a fun thing. She might do the funny thing where she forgets how to walk when the harness goes on, but motivate her to chase something and she'll get the hang of it over time. You're absolutely right about the independent cat thing not always being true. Mine is a 3 y.o. boy kitty and hes my cuddly little shadow 24/7

Cats are usually a handful for the first two years until theyre fully grown. when shes a proper adult cat shell most likely calm down and become a lot more chill and independent, but until then she will be quite the task to handel. shes a baby after all

If you’re ever worried about her claws being sharp and snagging on clothes or scratching others or if the kitty is not a fan of having her nails trimmed, you could consider claw caps. They’re covers that go over claws with a little bit of nail glue, and then they fall off once the claw sheds the outer layers.
She is a calico tabby I also have one called Amber. Sushi would be a cute name for her. Cats are very happy being left at home they sleep alot. By her a harness and lead so you don't loose her when you carry her. When cats get scared they bite and scratch and she could get loose. Yes, you need more litter in the box. Cats bury their "deposits" to cover the scent. You need at least 2" in the whole box. Cats are not pack animals, they prefer to be alone. They are much happier home than out in public areas. You have a real beauty, a calico, and she seems very bright. Kittens explore and will get into anything and everything. Some love to knock things off shelves, some play with wires, some like to find high, tight hiding places. Shut doors on rooms with computers or anything valuable but just leave her at home. She will be just fine.

Hilarious on the excavation comment of the litter box lol! I would lose the pad/liner and just fill the bottom up with 2" of litter. Cats like to dig for their business. I buy the same litter, but the scent free version. Well formed poos there...strangely, this will tell you a lot if there's change in their health. Tiki cat is a great food brand too! She will be well hydrated on a wet food diet :) For the future, if you see excessive water drinking, it will be an indicator of uti which will need a vet visit. My girly get's them often unfortunately. Congrats, she's such a cutie!!

hello!! I have a cat myself and wanted to suggest pellets as a litter alternative in case u ever need one. They come in huge bags for super cheap and they’re really easy to clean. I also suggest make a really tall tower since they like feeling superior to other living things including us😅. There also little hammocks that can be attached to windows that are super nice and affordable. I don’t shower my cat super often but what I do use is safe cat cleaning foam and I just like to rub it into my cat. And just one more thing, if u ever feel like ur cat isn’t drinking as much water as they should, u should definitely invest in a stainless steel running water fountain. It really helps to keep them hydrated since most cats die of urinary blockage due to not enough water intake. I loveeeee your videos and if you ever need help I’m sure me as well as many others would love to send gifts to her. Also some name suggestions, kinoko (mushroom), Miso (soy bean paste), or Nori (seaweed).

lol with so many free roaming animals I’m kinda forced to keep clean cause otherwise things will get chewed on. The only space that gets pretty messy is my film room but now with lil kitten girl I’m gonna have to keep it clean more often. Yessss highly recommend adopting! We adopted my Stitchy girl and I’m so proud to see her growth in confidence. She and her brother were found in crates full of their own pee and feces with super matted fur. She was soooo shy and scared of men. And now she’s living her best life and has the world’s softest fur!🥰✨

When we saved Nori she was always interested in the other buns but she actually would cuddle and sleep with me until we spayed her. Then she became super aggressive, territorial, and distant😔
Seeing you handle her outside without a harness and leash gave me so much anxiety. You're lucky she didn't get spooked and ran away.
Also, yes, cats are fairly independent, kitties on the other hand, need A LOT of attention, that's why it's usually recommended to get a bonded pair as a first time cat owner. But you have other animals, so she could bond with one of them.
And last piece of unsolicited advice (sorry 😅) - trim her nails if you don't want to be constantly bleeding, even if you don't play with her with your hands (which you shouldn't)
Anyway, as time passes you'll learn more and more, that's part of the experience and it's both frustrating and fun, so enjoy :D
OMGGG she’s been with us for 4 days now and the amount of scratches on my body is wild! She’s tiny but her claws are SHARP and PAINFUL! Tbh I’m scared to clip her nails because I once accidentally hurt Dumpling and made him bleed so I have a professional groomer come in every two months. Could I buy her a scratchboard instead? Or is there any other way to dull her nails besides trimming?😭
@@twinelle I've had cats for 10 years now so I don't really remember the fear of accidentally hurting my baby. Best advice is - try to be careful but if you nip too much nail, it's not the end of the world. Your cat will forget about it by dinner time (cold, I know, but you just get used to it I guess)
Also, 2 months between trimming means you'll be safe for two weeks and get scratched for the next month and a half. If you want the trimming to go smoothly, introduce treats while you're handling her paws, so she has a nice association with it.
Could put nail caps on.
@@umbralunea That would prevent the cat from scratching on their cat trees and they need to scratch stuff, it's a way of territory claiming. Remember, pets are just animals we force to live under our conditions. The least we can do is make those conditions as close to their natural way of life as possible.

Yessss she hates the stroller hates the carrier! She likes to walk independently so we got her a harness last night. She’s a lil wobbly and walks funky but already can tell she likes it so much better!😂

i really hope this doesnt scare you, i'm just trying to be real with you. you have to be SO CAREFUL with kitties and small animals. never let them be in the same space unsupervised for at least the first few months or until theyre socialised & adjusted. cats have natural prey drive instincts that can be triggered by the smallest of things. remember, kitty claws are sharp! she can do a lot more damage to your buns than they can to her

@@twinellethey keep themselves clean, if they ever get messy just use a pet safe wipe like you said. Most cats are really scared and can be traumatized by being bathed. I left another comment elsewhere but #1 RECOMMENDATION get pet insurance for her. It will be so worth it.
@@twinelle Yes keep documenting😹 And no I don’t bathe my cats now because I feel like they don’t need it and also it’s not recommended to breathe your cats too often because it strips them of their natural oils and can dry out their skin and also damage their coat, but if they do get dirty then yes a bath is necessary. Also it’s SUPER not recommended to bathe them as kittens because they get cold very easily because they can’t regulate their body temperature that well yet. I did bathe my cats when they were kittens only because they had fleas but other than that baths aren’t too necessary! I do know some people bathe their cats every couple of months or like 2-3 times a years which is not bad and can help them get rid of their excess fur aswell! For the most part yes they do clean themselves💗 if you do want to use wipes I would get some safe cat wipes because when you put something on their coat like if water splashes on their fur they instantly want to clean that part so if you use something that has unsafe ingredients your cat can digest it :(
