How Hootie & The Blowfish Got Their Start | TODAY
In the 90s I listened to a lot of angst filled music like grunge and gangsta rap. But when Hootie & the Blowfish made it big they were such a breath of fresh air whose songs made me feel positive and happy to be alive for a change. I'm thankful for them to this day.
The greatest band... It does feel like a nice time of our lives... I mean like... There's always a Hootie song that takes your back and brings some good memories 😀
Your right....I remember when their first album was the biggest hit.....6 of us were on a sailboat in Lake Huron sailing for 5 days, we played these songs over and over and over, getting high every day while sailing on the blue waters of The Huron.
yes! Yes! YES! YASS! AMERICA NEEDS HOOTIE!!!
I’m 13 years old and I love Darius Rucker and hoodie and the blowfish. Been to see them onece and hopefully more in the future. ❤️
I saw these guys multiple times in Greenville,NC and they were so good musically but what stood out most to me was how down to earth they were. I still pop in Cracked Rear View and remember every lyric!!
I love Darius Rucker in Hootie and Country. He is amazing.
RoyalMasterpiece Legend!
YESSSSSS THEIR BACK, HE ALSO SING COUNTRY MUSIC OMG HE'S AWESOME.
Man, how did I miss their comeback??? I love this band!!!
The story goes that Darius was in the dorm shower freshman year at college, and was belting out Billy Joel's "Honesty". He loved to sing all the time and as he put it "the acoustics were great in there!" So he's loudly singing and Mark Bryan walks in. He stands outside the shower and listens because he has to know who that is, and then when Darius gets out Mark immediately introduces himself. They become friends, realize they love the same bands and singers, start making music together, and the band is born.
Darius Rucker rocking the Gamecocks hat!
On July 24th, it's going to be 25 years since their debut album "Cracked Rear View" was released. All 4 members have children who are mostly in their late teens and early 20s-Let that sink in.
Thank god they are reunited #hootiefans
So excited!!! Must go back to the drawing board for our vacation plans for 2019
Amazing news very exciting roll on 2019 / 2020
I really like that hat Darius.
I'm Glad They Didn't Give Up! Real Good Music...2020
I love Hootie and the Blowfish!! I love Darius as a country artist, also. I watch Darius, though, and see him wearing the USC hats all the time. (Complement coming toward the end.) While I grew up in Columbia but am a Clemson fan (born and bred), and I do not like the Gamecocks (again, bred that way), I can sincerely appreciate Darius's dedication and loyalty to his school. Again, I love listening to Darius's country songs and to Hootie's songs. Y'all are great!! - With love from a Charleston Clemson grad and fan
I remember when you played at bar 101 I n rock hill sc played pool with you drank beer best times best band
Oh my God can’t wait for Hootie!!!
“Are you Hootie?” “No I am not… Hootie” 😆😆😆😆

Where did that name come from? Such an awesome band. Darius Rucker is amazingly talented.
LET THEM TALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations !
The fact that Dean didn’t say a word is hilarious
We wanna hear hootie!!
They have 2 shows in August at MSG, I'm thinking of taking my son
hootie hootie hootie!!
I like Hootie playing with his old band a lot more than his country material. Wise move! Good luck!
Me 2 🙂
He's amazing as a country singer, his voice was honestly made for that genre.
All these years later and people are still calling Darius Hootie. Smh
and that was five years ago
Jim Sonefeld needs to grow his hair back out. Real facts.
Just come across this video, love these guys but can yall atleast let Dean speak
Hoootie.....
I wish The interviewers would shut up and let the guys talk.
I only wanna be with you!
these women shud up and not take drugs in work time
Too bad the guy on the far right lost all his hair.still looks good though.
tom belcher Didn’t he lost hair. I love this band.
I presume Covid interrupted this tour?
If you don’t like hootie I don’t like you
Noooooooooooo!
So I guess the bassist isn't allowed to speak.
I knew in that song I want to hold your hand I knew it was a fake accent because no African American voice sounds that white naturally with a Southern twist. So he is no more than just another Eddie Murphy or Steve urkel because they can do voices or you can call him black Robert Williams
An absolutely horrible band
If you have nothing nice to say...
