I loved LVG and I was firmly in the 'keep LVG' camp instead of the 'bring in Jose' camp, but honestly, I think bringing in Jose was the right thing to do. I always think of it as LVG being a natural organic growth; whereas Jose is like steroids. Were we willing to give LVG the time to grow a team with several youth players initiated? Not really. We need to get up into an established place before thinking too big. I think Jose will get us there. It won't be pretty, but we will be there and have a solid foundation to work off. I would love to have seen LVG against Pep, though. Very similar styles, but some differences (Pep's style is more dynamic and fine-grained). The idea of keeping players in specific zones and letting the ball do the work doesn't seem so silly now. But that being said, it's always easier said than done, and I think van Gaal would've struggled to get these players to really compete against City's players. I don't really care too much about tactics. You can have a perfect tactical plan and it can still be undone by the wizardry of players like Silva and De Bruyne forcing mistakes from our players, which is almost completely outside Jose's control (unless it persists and he takes them off).

Lukaku played terribly today but he's had a very good season even with the scoring lapse. Needs some more substance against the top teams, but his skillset and what he brings has been crucial to our overall attacking game, plus he needs to keep starting to get his confidence back.

All players in squad can play but they have to have a system. Sitting behind ducking attack and counter attacking that too gets broken due to lack of support and off the ball runs. Mourinho has to change and adapt. He cannot play like a midtable team. There is no problem in players commitment but they have to be given freedom in final third and defence has to move high.

I don’t understand why we put out an attacking line up and then basically defend for 42 minutes straight from kick off we gave ball to Herrera and he booted it when we had time and rojo also pissed me off booting the fucking ball we played like those minor teams who almost got results vs City in the 3 games before this one. I know Herrera can play a killer pass and he didn’t do that because he had defend stuck in his head. We woke up a bit when they scored and played a few passes and attacked and city couldn’t handle it when we played with wingers more. Buying is never a solution. We need a manager who can actually coach the team, teach football and get the best out of players. Spurs doesnt spend jack, and they are doing relatively well with very average players. Every united player is a world class. Problem is, we got a coach who got only two solutions, 1. Defend for your lives and hope for the best 2. If there is a weak spot on the team, the solution is in the transfer market.

Lukaku needs to motivated, those mistakes were pressed set-piece, anyone could make that mistake. As long as he was active trying to make Rashford, martial, or lingard to take his position during counter attack, after clearing a set-piece is team work. Lukaku can defend set-piece but today was not his day, Manchester United just need to understand that Lukaku is more clinical in goal. I do agree maybe he looks tired because of how Mourinho rely on his strength in defense and attack, every week. I think Mourinho should let him rest for easier games. So, during a Derby he is refreshed and ready.

I don’t understand why we put out an attacking line up and then basically defend for 42 minutes straight from kick off we gave ball to Herrera and he booted it when we had time and rojo also pissed me off booting the fucking ball we played like those minor teams who almost got results vs City in the 3 games before this one. I know Herrera can play a killer pass and he didn’t do that because he had defend stuck in his head. We woke up a bit when they scored and played a few passes and attacked and city couldn’t handle it when we played with wingers more. Lukaku needs to motivated, those mistakes were pressed set-piece, anyone could make that mistake. As long as he was active trying to make Rashford, martial, or lingard to take his position during counter attack, after clearing a set-piece is team work.
Lukaku can defend set-piece but today was not his day, Manchester United just need to understand that Lukaku is more clinical in goal. I do agree maybe he looks tired because of how Mourinho rely on his strength in defense and attack, every week. I think Mourinho should let him rest for easier games. So, during a Derby he is refreshed and ready.
