    It looks like the surgery was totally worth it for you and you seem genuinely happy with how things are going. I'm 22 months from my AK amputation and one thing I've realized is the constant changes and adjustments so far. The biggest was residual limb shrinkage, followed by a new knee , foot , and socket. It all takes time to adjust. even small changes can throw you off of your gait. Different shoes impact how I feel and how my leg seems to function. All in all I am just so incredibly grateful to be able to walk again and working through each new challenge is teaching me patience and persistence. A bad day here and there does not throw me off my game anymore, I just accept that it is just a bad day and then I get back on track the next day. Your video's are inspiring and have helped me know that I too can overcome the challenges of limb loss. Your dog is very unimpressed, cracked me up.

    Ouch! I can’t wear those hard bucket sockets, I fluctuate like crazy so traditional sockets don’t work for me, I wear an infinite socket by Lim innovations. So glad that your prosthetist hooked you up with a tez belt to help you hold your test socket on comfortably and it’s so good seeing you back up on your prosthetic again 🤗🦿🤗

    You should do a video just on "wardrobe considerations," particularly for women.

      Thanks! I bought it used. When I went to pick it up the guy I bought it from set it outside and as I pulled up I saw it and started laughing at how big it was. I love it.

    Hey your my new favorite go to for suggestions on so I have a vacuum seal socket on the rotator and you mention you find you have to look down well my risidual shifts then my foot goes sideways or pigeon toed. What do you press to lock it in????

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  Год назад

      It should lock on its own unless you press the button to unlock it. Do you have the same brand as mine or a different one? I’m not sure how the other ones behave.

    How did you learn to balance on one leg so well? I’m an AKA as of July 2021 and I’m only able to stand on one leg for less than a minute!

    You didn’t go with the boa socket this time? , I notice your liner doesn’t use a gasket for this type of socket . Would you say this is a better fit in socket option? Also you look great !

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  2 года назад

      It seems like a better fit and I don’t need a BOA as there’s the option of adding padding to reduce volume inside without compromising suction.

      @@AmputeeOT nice, I liked the boa system just by looking at your reviews the fact that you could adjust it throughout the day limbs swell up or shrinks depends on how active you are, im always curious how other sockets fit. Any tips to relieve rubbing on the inner thigh? I seen they padded your test socket , that’s painful

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  2 года назад

      I don’t have any issues with inner thigh rubbing so my suggestion would be to talk to your prosthetist about that

    Ok TMI. This is a long process.. do you have to take it off to use the bathroom? Seeing how up high this goes? I would be rushing not to pee myself to get to the bathroom

    How do you stand on your natural leg and do all of that without toppling over 🤔?
    I get hopping around without an assistive device because of 'momentum' (though i personally can't do even that yet), but to stand whilst doing all that tugging, bending, etc,...
    Just wow.

    I'm so sorry you have had to have the extra surgeries. 😔 Wow! That sucks. I've had trouble, too, but I don't have much help down here in Shreveport, Louisiana. I developed a "callous" so to speak that ended up splitting on the scar line and it's been horrible. For the last year I've not been able to wear my prosthetic except in dire circumstances for short periods of time. My shrinkers are 6 years old and stretched out doing no good. Due to swelling I can't get my leg 😫 on and if I have it's split again leaving a 6 inch long, 2-3cm deep bloody, gory mess. Now I have told my prosthetic folks to send me a shrinker, same size as before, so that I may get up there and get my leg adjusted and they refuse. I can never make any appointments because it takes 5-6 hours to get my leg on unless it's forced which I refuse to do. I don't think I mentioned I have been an RN for 30 years with a large part of that in rehab so I am jot new to any of this. The leg 🦵 is also crooked hurting my back and looking ridiculous. I have finally 🙌 gotten my "nubbin" almost healed up and I'm not taking the chance of complications just because they won't give me 1 f**k**g shrinker because they say they have to measure it. I realize their concern, but I want my shrinker, just one so I can get my leg on to be able to get up there. Not to mention all the other appointments I can't get to. I an pt the shrinker on 4 hours before and it will work. I have other illnesses that need seeing about. My hands are in bad shape(scleroderma), 2 stents in my ❤️ and some auto immune problems. Plus I'm about to blow a f**k**g gasket! Please give me an opinion , advice, anything!!!
    Ninaedowling@gmail.com Thank-you so much!
    Ps,- Nobody taught me anything about the surgery, being an amputee, nothing about anything!!! It was a good thing I was a nurse! But still, nurses don't know all about amputations. People are STUPID
    YOU TAUGHT ME EVERYTHING!!!

    • @AmputeeOT
      @AmputeeOT  2 года назад

      Why don't you go to your prosthetist without your leg on? They want to make sure your leg has not changed size such that you need a different shrinker, and the only way they can know is to measure it.
