Flying Lotus 'You're Dead' Interview With Sama'an Ashrawi

To celebrate the release of his latest offering, 'You're Dead', Los Angeles-based producer Flying Lotus put together an incredible listening session at Mack Sennett Studios; the album showcases FlyLo's masterful exploration of the intersections of jazz, electronic, rap, and funk. For the great nephew of Alice & John Coltrane, it's not so abstract an idea to feature Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Kamasi Washington, and Snoop Dogg on the same album-- in fact, it's quite natural.
After the listening session, FlyLo sat down for an interview with Sama'an Ashrawi to talk about Sun Ra, freedom, life after death, and more.

I really hope that you do get to met him. His live shows are amazing, and you can tell that he loves what he does. Also, do go and see Thundercat, and try to meet him. Thunder is a super nice guy, and at the Atlanta show I went to he chatted with fans after the concert behind the venue. Also, have a really great time, man!

Yeah, my whole life changed once discovering the Pineal and my own views on the universe. No matter how many find out about it, as long as attention is brought to the real thing, I wouldn't care in the end, that's fantastic. But it is true some do look at it as a gimmick sometimes which is highly unfortunate because it can overshadow what it really is, but again, educating yourself is all that really matters.
