Van Morrison was one of those who has always been there all of my life, had many songs that I loved but I never focused on him until the last few years. Now he is a favorite.
Me too brother.I hear so much anger now a days...I guess people have always been wanting and selfish but if they would just look deep into this mystery of life itself they would just have to wonder ...why are we here?The destination is the same for us all and that is a mystery too.Death is just the back door on this house.
Van has many facets to his persona and without doubt God looms big in his life, but when I hear this I think of other things. He was very interested in his ancestry and believed Caledonia/ Celtic/Scandinavian world where directly connected in culture and history (which is undoubtedly true) .His own surname is one of the few clans in Scotland that can be connected to Scandinavian roots. If you listen to "listen to the Lion" I feel there could be a connection. To me this is his own ancestors sailing off into the Unknown and the mystic is the sea and life's journey . But it's all subjective, but that's my two Peneth's worth. Loved the video as well 😘😘😘

Wish I had known this song when watching my wife suffer in hospice would have played it for her didn't know how to tell her it was okay I would survive her nurse finally told me reason she was suffering so long was thought I couldn't handle it told her went home to take care of the dogs and phone was ringing
Most of the time, it's such a painful experience that we can't even think straight. I have had a similar experience with my child. (3yrs) The burden of guilt was too much for too long. Sometimes I didn't go to her, even though I had free time. I just couldn't look at my dying child anymore. That was all I saw - death. I didn't believe in anything after death at the time. One evening, I went home to take a complete break from her hospital room. I overslept and she passed the next morning without me by her side. I hated myself. I had to forgive myself. It took me 10 years to deal with her death. But I realized that she doesn't hold it against me. I realized that I did what I was emotionally capable of doing, at the time. I was a distraught young mother, very afraid and very angry about it and very lonely in my grief. My whole world came down. I'm sharing this to say - I can emphasize. Hope you forgave yourself for not knowing and not being there. She doesn't hold it against you. Best wishes to you.
Van and Janet Planet were living in the Town of San Anselmo, Marin County, Northern California when he wrote this song and so I always figured when he sang... When that Fog Horns Blows I will be coming home... Thats when he is driving over the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco into Marin County and on to San Anselmo soon after and when the Bridge is covered in Fog you can hear the Fog Horns of the huge Ships passing underneath and I have experienced that many times as I drove across the Bridge when I lived there years ago. I want the original recording of this song played as my body is being created as I will be coming home.

You're right, your life is most definitely over...............as long as you keep telling yourself, keep convincing yourself, you are doomed. As long as you are alive, there's hope. As a suggestion, find peace thru helping others hospitalized or in convalescence, sick children that need the comfort you will give them, they will give you meaning in your life and peace. ❤
You need to be a warrior for life despite your broken heart. You are not alone. Be brave and hang in there. Read an uplifting spiritual book or join a self help group. Please don't go before your time. You are important and I'm sure you have goals you can reach. Stay safe and try to be at peace.
