Yeah I definitely had that time! My first 3-4 years I was just trying and throwing everything! Then I always went back to these molds and then eventually just stuck with them and didn't really get or try any more discs other than these molds... Then I started a store/youtube channel 😂
its really nice to see a disc golf channel that i can actually compare my arm speed to... i love the content of the pros... but this is so much more refreshing to see down a down to earth player give his honest review of all these discs and throws an accurate flight path that actually matches my game play ... support this brother and subscirbe so more players can see his content
Great video! It was fun to see you out there before your round and I had no idea you had such an old school bag. Very cool to see discs from before I played
My build a bag philosophy is every disc should be as easily replaceable as possible (financially and availability). Less heart break for a loss, and having duplicates for field work is nice. You lose a disc during a tournament round or its not there when you get to the course? Go grab the backup out of the trunk. Any mold minimalization should be more about the different stability from plastics out the box and inspecting parting line heights and wing shapes in person than beating a disc in for years.
I’ve also been changing my thought process based on availability… also on consistency of the mold itself! But, cycling has its appeal too. I think you’ll keep putt & approach disc the same but swap mids and drivers out!
Love this candid look into your thrower collection! Says a lot that you have access to so many new discs, but still elect to throw the old favorites. Well done sir. Another great video.
@@ApolloDiscGolf I'm curious to see the evolution of the bags. I bet that initially the old bag will beat any new bag, but, with time, you will find interesting discs that might do something different or better than what the old bag can do and eventually I foresee that the old bag will win the overall event but will be updated with a few new stuff. The other reason I would love to see this battle between old and new is that I think too much hype is made about the new stuff. The old classics are solid and there is no need to replace them.
Well-done. I really like how you went into the backstory for each mold and took the time to explain. TBH I like and respect how you only keep it to a few molds. I am the opposite, where I find a mold that will fly exactly like the shot I want brand-new out of the box. I do think that keeping some extra molds for gaps, like your Jokeri is very helpful. Maybe put a forehand specific distance driver that you can really love and trust.
Excited to see where your bag goes. I respect the idea of mold minimalism but my head does not compute it. My bag is filled with different molds for each shot. I enjoy the feeling of a different mold for a different shot.
I just like keeping things simple! The more simple, the less thinking on the teepad! Less choices and more executing! I don't have to think too much about what disc is right for the hole
Gotta be your red roc, and probably a couple teebirds staying, but everything else in your bag seems like a very competitive slot and there's room to learn new things and improve your game overall through that! There's tons of good AM distance drivers (well documented on your channel), and lots of exciting putters and distance drivers to choose from too!
Yeah, I only have two of them... And the other I used so much for my terrible forehand and forehand rollers, that it's not really that overstable anymore... So this is the only beefy one I have left... 😂
Hey Love the Content! That is a solid bag. I throw alot of the same molds. A slot i think you should experiment with is 9 speed discs other than firebird. what do you throw between teebird and wraith? Since your bag consists of staples, you will have alot of options for discs that are similar to what you already throw. i look forward to the coming videos!
I use to have 9 speeds in my bag... But I never really thought it gave me much more than my Teebirds... I just don't throw far enough for those to make a huge difference or for there to be that big of a gap between my Teebirds and Wraiths! Like I dabbled with Thunderbirds for a bit.. but really kept going back to just my Teebirds!
Why should he? If he loves and knows his teebirds just stay with them. I personally throw fd and i like it better than teebird but everyone to their own.
Since you mentioned the TeeBird you have that was just penned with a star and a T, I did quick research through the Innova catalog pdfs that I have, and you might find this interesting: TeeBird has been around forever. TL came out in 2005. TeeRex came out in 2007 TeeDevil came out in 2012. Tern came out in 2013. Thunderbird came out in 2014. Teebird3, TL3 came out in 2015. So there weren't a lot of discs that started with a T in Innova's line-up until 2012, when they produced a new one a year through 2015. I'm guessing that specific TeeBird came out before 2012.
Yeah, I love this run of them! I got about 5 of them. They feel nice and chalky as well... So I just picked them up whenever I saw them! They aren't the most overstable, they actually turn a bit out of the box... But that's why I love them! They hyzerflip brand new and they glide for DAYS!
@@ApolloDiscGolf From what I read online, there was the initial batch of T penned TeeBirds that were TeeBird X (a normal TeeBird) and subsequent runs were the TeeBird L mold because the CE plastic was so overstable that the initial TeeBird run was too beefy, but the TL run in that premium plastic (of that era) made them more stable than the other TLs. So you may have the later runs that were all actually premium TLs.
@@NickCarroll They are definitely the regular Teebird-X mold... They star plastic just came out slightly less stable. But they are concaved on the bottom of the wing with the bead at the end, so definitely a Teebird-X mold! Just an older run after PFN but before they took off the Patent numbers
