SGT2581 Announcement: With LTA announcing the retirement of the First, Second and Third Generation Trains in Singapore, (Kawasaki Heavy Industries Contract 151, Siemens Aktiengesellschaft C651 and Kawasaki Nippon Sharyo C751B), both of us will be filming more of these trains on both NSL and EWL, to commemorate the great service that these trains have provided.

That's why, even 207/208 in it's original form still performs better compared to most KHI trains even after 29 years and I remember riding the SIE very often while avoiding the KHI during my primary / secondary school days lol (and still doing so now with R151 trains as my new successor to the KHI). Now with this disruption, I really don't feel like riding and filming the KHI trains on EWL anymore and I really hope they don't last beyond 2026

Its not that dangerous normally but it can be in an emergency situation. Just like seatbelts on a plane are not necessary when the seatbelt sign is off until things go wrong. Standing away from the gangway is not necessary until the axle box falls off.
It may not be that necessary but you would really want to avoid it anyways, similar to how people are advised to wear seatbelts all the time in flight regardless of the seatbelt sign.

They should have admitted very early on that a derailment occurred. It was very fortunate that there were no serious injuries or deaths. But by making things sound like a simple "fault" and not adjusting expectations on the severity of the incident, people were angry over why the train line has to stay closed for days and this only attracted unnecessary pressure on LTA and SMRT.
