  • Croydon, Surrey.
L/S of a large room with very unusual construction in the middle. People are walking around it, wondering. Construction is a model of totally mechanised home - invention of Mr Rowland Emett. The construction is on show in a Croydon store. In the middle of the construction is a man with glasses - a dummy. He is sitting in front of a fire place, reading a newspaper. M/S of a dummy from behind shows an old gramophone horn coming out of the fire place. There is a small fire lit at the bottom of the horn while a miniature TV set comes from its middle. C/U shot of a dummy moving his head back as the TV 'attacks' him. This is called TV set for the short-sighted with its own coal fire!? Next to it is a cat chair. A cat (toy) is sitting on a stool 'playing' with several toys hanging over its head from a 'wire tree'. C/U shot of the face of a little girl looking at a spectacle.
A picture splits in half to let the dummy inspect washed dishes tied to a circling wheel. M/S of 'automatic dishwasher' - looks more like 'dishbreaker'. A large 'pool' is full of dishes, which are rhythmically splashed with water. M/S of rotisserie (with half a turkey on) flying around. Camera tilts down to M/S of Mr Emett changing a light bulb on, what appears to be the main body of the apparatus. C/U shot of Mr Emett's face as he inspects the apparatus. C/U shot of a quirky clock with kettle on top.
M/S of Mr Emett's garden construction. Roses are circling around while big scissors are cutting the grass. There is a little bird in the middle of the construction, trying to pull a worm out of earth. C/U shot of scissors cutting the grass. C/U shot of an elderly man looking at the weird garden construction - he looks puzzled. A bunch of roses jumps out of nowhere dangerously close to man's face. C/U shot of flowers circling. M/S of Emett attempting to have a cup of tea but he is being attacked by flying objects from all sides.
Note: Another Emett story 'Emett's Tractor' can be find in CP 292; 'Emett's Computer' is in CP 617.
