Tampons may contain "toxic levels" of lead and arsenic in them, study warns

- Tampons sold under various popular brands may contain toxic metals such as arsenic and lead, according to a recent study out of the University of Berkeley in California.
The study, published in the latest volume of Environmental International, found that all 30 tampons tested from 14 brands - including organic tampons - contained lead, with some showing concerning levels of other toxic metals like arsenic.
But despite the large potential for public health concern, she told Global News that very little research has been done to measure chemicals in tampons.

The saddest thing is that the video ended with them saying it's just too soon to know whether it's toxic or not... literally showing how the lack of information about female anatomy and the things females put in their bodies since ages!!!! It's not a surprise!!! It's disappointing to know that we've been using tampon since ever and NOW they'r being studied and it's still "Too soon to know"
I wonder if they'll test pads as well. Nothing seems safe anymore.

i’m literally watching and learning this while i have one of these inside my body right now and honestly im in tears and just feel completely sick. im terrified for the health consequences this could result in for myself and so many other people.

@@jadechaya9025 which does not remain inserted inside a vagina, where mucosal membranes are absorbing the toxic chemicals from a tampon. Pads reduce the risk

As a man who has fallen in love with Justin Trudeau's policies that have landed tampons in the men's bathroom so that men can use them, this is really good to know. As a man I have been using them as they are free to use but I've only got one spot to put it and I'm not sure I'm doing it right

That’s not realistic! Also pads are made of the same materials. People do sports and have lives, tampons are also easy access and we can’t always choose when we get our period and what we use
