- July has kicked off with Scream Factory announcing their September titles. Vinegar Syndrome has their July releases up plus their Subscriber Week sale. Kino has a new 4K coming. A lot to cover as summer is in full swing so let's get to it!

Scream Factory nailed most of these. Already have Strangers from Second Sight so no real need to upgrade here, but Stepfather, Doomsday, Village, etc are all great ones. So far, no Vinegar Syndrome pick ups but my cart is loaded for Kino's sale, just waiting to see what comes tomorrow from the Cinematagraphe line lol. Hope all is well Richard and, as always, FANTASTIC video!

Really looking forward to the 4K release of STEPFATHER!
I have an iPad2 that is like 15 years old and it sits at my bedside table and only Netflix works on it so every night I load up MST3K and Reptilicus as my white noise. For like the past 6 years. So I have seen Reptilicus, albeit half asleep, more times than anyone in the world.
Scream Factory REALLY stepped it up with their September releases. I don't think there is one bad release (Though the Amityville remake fails in comparison to the original like most remakes). This makes me hopeful for their October announcements. Also, any week we can get 2 Vague Ramblings videos is a good week!
Reptilicus is pretty great if you're a fan of classic giant monster movies.
I’m definitely excited for Village of the Damned, I know some people hate this remake, but I stumbled upon it when my brother changed it to a channel airing it, and I honestly liked it.
The 4K transfer is going to look great, especially with the colorful irises of these scary children.
I believe Graveyard Shift was one of the movies that would be played on the movie channel at the motel in New Orleans where I once lived, and at the age of 9 or 10, I couldn't really appreciate it. I wanted something far different than an inundation of rats from a movie based around a graveyard and I guess I still would.
As mentioned in another comment, Shout Studios doesn't even accept orders from me, which reinforces my inclination to avoid buying anything of theirs.
BTW, I think I've avoided mentioning anything about Friday The 13th Part 3 and particularly the 3D version from the Scream Factory set since I mentioned that I planned to watch it at some point last year, but something prevented me from doing that, as in every other case up to that point when I intended to watch it, and I'm not even certain what it was that time, but probably my discovering that I had the wrong 3D glasses for my TV. Well, I finally got to watch it, beginning on Jason's birthday, June 13th. I say I BEGAN watching it then because I was suddenly "mysteriously" made to become very drowsy while watching it, resulting in my watching the last 20-30 minutes the following day. That being said, having since watched both the My Bloody Valentine remake and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For in 3D on my TV, it is striking how much stronger the 3D effects are in Friday The 13th Part 3 than either of those far newer movies!!!

Cant' wait for the Stepfather 4K, I recently rewatched all of the Stepfather movies and the original is so good. I actually never saw the originals until a couple of years ago, I used to like the remake until I saw the original, now it's barely watchable.

Hi Richard, thanks for the update today! Interested in a few of these for sure. I like creature flicks like Reptilicus-but not sure if I should wait for a sale or not. Have not seen Doomsday, but like seeing your enthusiasm about it! Too bad about the extended cut not being 4k though...
Doomsday is a British homage to 80's Movies like 'Escape from New York' and 'The Road Warrior'. Apparently it didn't do so well. I don't know why - I loved it. It's a very slick film with a decent budget too.
For me the big ones here are The Stepfather and Village Of The Damned!
Sadly I cant get any fun editions from Shout but will get what I can.

Doomsday is a pleasant surprise, actually underrated and very entertaining, buuuut...I don't know if it's worth the 4k upgrade. While we are at it, why is it that some movies have their unrated cut in 4K, and others only the theatrical cut is 4K? It's not like Doomsday is a super old movie. This confounds me.

Big pass on the Amityville remake, not a fan. Doomsday as well. Not paying for 4Ks that don't include director's/unrated anymore.
After hearing Doomsday 4k is not the extended cut I'm going too pass, but Stepfather and Reptilicus I will pick up.
It seems like to me scream factory just hasn't had nothing worth wild for the last couple of years lately. Also, have they stopped doing the hammer films cuz I want horror of dracula, the mummy, curse of frankenstein on blu ray

Lots of interesting movies but.... think I'll save my funds for another month!
I'll rant for a bit.
Scream Factory has really fallen off.
I know they have some deal with big studios like WB, Sony, and Universal. They are releasing a lot of their movies on 4k. Which is fine on it's own. But it's what they are not doing that's the problem. .
So first of all, they remove and kind of language dub from previous releases of these big studio movies. Which sucks. Because this is the only way to get these releases in physical media in Canada and Latin America, and we are out of options in language. There are streaming services that have those movies in Spanish and other languages here in the US. For people that want to keep this media alive it sucks that SF removes these options.
Second, they are doing too many re releases. Nothing new in some cases besides the packaging, which should always be an option with the initial release, but they obviously want to milk collectors who buy every version even with no new features.
Third, they are releasing movies that are readily available, or that don't need a new Blu ray or a 4k upgrade. Who wants the boy in 4k? Does it need it? Will it be much different than the Blu ray? It's already available everywhere for very cheap. Why shell out $40?
We need movies that still are left in the dust and not taken care of.
Where is the ginger snaps sequels? How about Black Xmas with the out of print Blu ray. I want the grudge remake sequels that were never available on Blu ray.
Only positive is that at least these releases will keep the movies in circulation and not have to worry about things going out of print.
The last Blu ray I got from SF, was night of the demons 2 and 3. Just need to get the ring collection. Only have 4 of their 4ks.
I loved Doomsday. As much as I hate to say it, I think it is a more worthy Mad Max sequel than Fury Road. I felt Fury Road was over blown and overrated. Yes it was big and visually impressive. But it had no soul. I didn't really care about Furiosa's character, or her motives. And the gang weren't intimidating enough. Immortan Joe was cool though - Can't complain about bringing back Hugh Keays-Byrne.
Help me understand, why Shout continues to do this. They did the same thing with Nightbreed. Why give us a 4K of the theatrical cut, and a Blu-ray of the extended cut? 90% of people buying this, WANT THE UNCUT VERSION! Look on in dread, as the former BIG dog in boutique labels, become a bunch of cash-grabbers.
Nothing compelling which is good for the wallet.
No 4k of Doomsday unrated no thank you!!!
