    This was excellent, every decision well explained and justified. This one is a must for us budding machinists. Length is fine. Thanks, looking forward to Saturday.

      Hi Craig. Do you have a machine you can try this on? I've gotten a few emails from people that have made the part so far.

      @@MechanicalAdvantage funny, was thinking the same thing. My PM728VT with MASSO/Clearpath CNC just arrived. I'll see what I can do. Will email you with my contact info.

    Excellent tutorial Kevin. Length not a problem at all.

      OK, good to hear. I think most will be about this length. There will be some parts that require soft jaws and I may break those videos up over a few days.

    I learned a lot, It went by very quickly, and I was still rewinding occasionally to make sure I didn't miss anything.

      Good. I tried to balance between not going to fast and not getting to buried in details at the same time.

    Great video Kevin, thank you. Length was fine, because it was feature packed.
    I picked up a few tips that I did not know before which is fantastic, thanks. I did not know i could drag out the browser bar to give more info on the tool details, that will save me hovering over it to see. The finishing overlap, I always type in 5mm, so knowing I can use the edit expression is a nice quick tip. Also, using copy and past for tool paths to speed up following setups, i could not work out how to paste it, but your video showing to click on the new opp is excellent, now i know.
    One thing I'd love more lessons on is in the Geometry tab, what each of the options do when selecting different boundary's. That can be a bit of a mind field.
    Looking forward to more of this, thanks for doing these.

      The geometry tab is a good idea. There might be a few things I'm waiting for to be released before I do that. How is that for a teaser? haha

    Kevin….
    GREAT video mate.
    My OFM ( Old Fart Meter) didn’t even register, as I was able to follow along just fine 👍
    Thanks for doing these mate.
    I’ll call you in the next coupla months to discuss some online or video Siemens 808DA training on my X7.
    Once again, thanks for providing this much needed content.
    Regards,
    Robert

      Glad I didn't break the OFM! haha
      When you need some help, let me know. I'm not sure I'm the foremost export on the control. I pretty much know how to set tools, set the WCS, and load the program.

    Thank you, length is fine. On the side 10-32 holes, when using spot drill is a good practice to chamfer .010 to .015 before tapping?

    I was wondering if you were going to do a short vid on the approach that you were going to take on posting the Gcode for this project.....in other words, post each OP as a separate file and then establish/probe the new WCS for the next OP, or take a different approach. Saturday should be great seeing this part come to life on the Syil.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  8 месяцев назад +1

      I think I'll show the process of posting. You may have noticed that the shearhog I used for setup 2 was tool #13. That is a bit of a problem since I only have 12 tools in the changer. So i'll need to edit that tool number before I can post. I'll be posting each setup and running the setup from start to finish.

    • @ericsandberg3167

      Kevin, the presentation style is great, could be a bit fast paced for a person just getting started with CAM, but overall, very feature rich. The only note I made was that in setup #2 it was a bit fuzzy as to where/how you would pick up the WCS for this setup and its subsequent operations. Looking forward to the next vid and presentation. @@MechanicalAdvantage

    Hi Kevin great idea this series, do you think this engine could be reproduced on a CNC router set up, the one im thinking is a Foxalien Vasto
    certainly not industrial but capable of milling aluminium.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  8 месяцев назад +1

      I would think so. As long as you have a good way to hold and accurately pick up the backside programs.

    Another great video thanks. what I would like to know how to correct is when viewing the part for my first setup with the top view being set the part seems to work fine when rotating around but when flipping the part over for the second setup it seems the top view is now the bottom and part doesn't seem to rotate on the correct axis. Does this make sense?
