Built a hinged door in front of the boxes, which I open in the mornings and close at nights, keeping the chickens from sleeping in them. They have gotten used to using them for egg laying only and haven’t seen a chicken in them in quite a while. Really nice, haven’t had to clean the boxes in a long time.
While I learned something and got some ideas, I will be a lot more impressed if it actually worked. Suggest that in the future, you include a follow-up either at the end of the video or in your description noting the results.
@@StewartFarmApiary Hi, yes I was also waiting hoping at the end of the video you would have a segment from a week later to let us know the level of failure/success you had???
@@brianjanson3398 Not sure what success I could show other than a bunch of poop below the roosting post. It has been a game changer for me. Big difference with no worries. Only issue I have had since video was a new chicken getting in box because they didn't accept her yet on roost. I closed the boxes at night for only two nights and she made her way up with the rest. Have a great week and than you for the comments.
@@StewartFarmApiary yes, I already named the rooster McNugget so he fell in line. Next I’m going to print out a recipe for chicken noodle soup and hang the picture over the nesting boxes…

Brilliant idea. Not sure I have the skills as a carpenter for that. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
Helpful information - thank you!
Thank you for the kind feedback.

Chickens have different grasping from birds.. so flat perches are best. Round perches are more suitable for birds.
Thank you for the information. Have a great week.
My nest in boxes are a foot off the floor, their roost is well above and my chickens still go to the boxes.
You may have a mutiny brewing in the chicken house. Watch your back while in there. They sound rebellious. Thanks for the feedback.

If that doesn’t work I’ll be hanging a picture of Col. Sanders at the boxes…
@@whar2010 Thats what I's talking about.
@@whar2010 that is why we use dual purpose chickens..........if they can't behave they can always be a good meal.
My chickens don’t use their perch they use the top of the damn nesting box
Wow- that is not good.
I built mine with a steep angle roof, works better than flat….
This isn’t a “fix”; it is an attempted fix. Did it work?
Worked for me so it is a “fix”. Worked for many more as well. Thanks for the feedback.
Good work!
let them pick the nesting site they wont poop in it................
thank you for the great advice
