Those are literally the first quads I've ever ridden. Same colors and everything. The bayou was brand new. Think we had a forest green bayou too. That little 400 was awesome. The big bears were what I spent most of my time on.
That’s pretty cool that these were the first you ridden. That bayou 400 is a little tank.
My first was a Yamaha moto 4 200.
@rockspowersports My dad used to work for a land survey company out here in Nevada. They ran a fleet of probably 6 big bears and two of the bayous. The big bears were rough to manage at 6, haha. The moto4 200 was kinda a predecessor to the big bear, right?
These comparison videos are my favourite. Would be nice to see more of them. Even if they aren’t a fair match up lol.
Just stubbled upon your channel and have been watching all your videos the past couple days. You do a great job at explaining things and you are truly a great mechanic and treat your customers honestly not try to up sell them or anything. The reviews and comparison videos are great as well. Keep it up. I know for a lot of customer machines you use the name brand oils or what they request. I know you said you have been using Rotella 5w40 T6 in your personal machines. What do you use in the differentials and transmissions? I always used mobil 1 0w40 and mobil 1 gear oil and mobil 1 ATF in the front dif of my 570 rzr. Along with a kn oil filter and UNI oiled air filter. Keep up the videos they are awesome.
My dad bought a big bear brand new in 97/98 in green, it was used on the ranch for 15 years give or take. Now it's a trail machine and all the scars and scratches have stories from our childhood. Never needed anything other than a seal, batteries and bulbs. Used to drag a big rake around our arena with it. They are crazy tough machines.
Keep ‘em coming bud 🎥
Very ENJOYABLE and love to LEARN🏁😉
Awesome man! Was not expecting to see these two machines side by side test rides after the way the last video went… very cool and what a surprise!’ thanks for the video and great content as always!!!
again, lucky me for being on your tube nights a lot to watch rocks new vids!!
Glad you caught it right off, hope you enjoy the ride!
My dad has a 97 big bear 350 that I have put a beating on and it still runs like a top. He took it in to a friends atv shop out of curiosity just to inspect the top end and they couldn’t believe how great of shape it’s still in. Just purchased a yamaha wolverine rmax 4 1000 xtr last weekend and love it! Hoping yamaha can keep that same reliability in this new rig.
Keep making videos your doing fantastic I love watching all your content 😃
Great video!
Glad you showed the oil filter at the end. I was waiting for that!
Should also for the heck of it do another leak down test. See if it improved any.
I have a 92 big bear 350 I got a good deal on it. Transmission shaft was broke, I tore it apart and replaced with a used trans, put new piston in while I was in there and its been an awesome wheeler since. I enjoy riding it more than my warrior now
Excellent! look forward to the 350 teardown, when you get to it, at some point! good machines!
Great video content, enjoying all your tear downs and builds. But the Bayou 400 that I owned was a 1994 and had it for 8 years. It is a work horse at the cabin dragging logs out of the woods.
I wish I never gave it away, miss the power the little quad had.
I had Kawasaki klf 300 and the water cooled klf 400 as they were called in the uk. 400 was a brilliant hill farming bike. Low centre of gravity was great working on slopes. Only way it would wheelie was stood on the rack! Low bars were not comfy on a long ride but were great when jumping on and off catching sheep and opening gates, like it was designed to ride with one knee on the seat. Wish I hadn’t sold it when I got offered an arctic cat diesel.
Love all your videos keep up the good work
Thanks man, appreciate that!
Awesome video! Enjoy the warmer weather !
Loving these videos
Glad to hear it!
Those engines were built to last back then. We need a showdown. Kingquad and a fourtrax
Love to hear yer thoughts. On a bf. 300. 2wd. Platform been out since 2012. Great vids.
I used to live in upstate NY. Lake placid and Chazey. I can’t believe how warm it is up there right now.
It has been warm, it was 50f today here. Supposed to get some snow tomorrow morning.
Great video, Rock. Bummer about the big bear. That’s a lot of metallic particle.
They were both great machines in their day
My first quad was a mini version of that Yamaha. It was an 80cc Moto 4 😂
i have KAWASAKI KLF 400 from 94' still working ;D
Happy i find youre channel, i try too get a kawasaki klf 400 working again had problems with mine cdi box i put it in the oven for 10 minutes and it works again ,you know about this and how long does that last?
Riding it like you stole it with no brakes 😂 great watch 👌
Absolutely! Haha, glad you enjoyed the ride.
My first was Loncin desert storm 250, semi manual 5 speed.
88 big bears are beasts in the rough
Do you have a artic cat 300 4x4 2000 if you do plz do a haul towing trailer video i want to see what is capable of towing with especially with low range mid range and high range great video by the way Blessings 🙏 🙏 🙏
..
I've done that tire ride its all fun n games until your strap breaks n the tire stops you don't lol good times😅
I love my big bear 350 really strong quad got a video on my channel of it in the water
I wonder if the Yamaha has a transmission problem that's producing all that metal, and not an engine problem. Might be linked to the one-way bearing?
It very well could be.
Any opinions on running the t6 5w40 in a ranger 1000xp?
Got my kodiak to just over 80 km onna flat and over 90 on a hill
Do you ship parts inside the US?
Do you have a Polaris Magnum 325 and if so could you do a driving video with it?
I don’t have one right now but I have done one in the past on a magnum 330.

@@rockspowersports thanks 👍
Got any sled content planned for winter?
I’ll have some sled content coming. I’d like to pick up a vintage sled to do some vintage rides here at some point.
@rockspowersports Awesome!
What are the chances you posted this today I have a bayou 300 in my shop from my friend it won’t spark when you hold the start button and will spark one time when you let off any advise?
I want to see the oil filter on that 350 after the ride
Watch the end of the video, I pulled it out.
I am watching
Oh gotcha, thanks for watching. I know some people might of missed it because I kind of ended the video then pulled the oil filter out.
@ i enjoy your content. Have an 02 sportsman 700 and a 22 renegade 1000. The 700 does more work the renegade is for fun
Oh man look at that filter. How is it still going!!
One thing about the older small 4 wheelers they could be man handled
All that metal is probably from the one way clutch
I simply can't understand why the atv industry went the cvt route what was wrong with the semi auto gearbox . For me the best vehicles whether it's an atv or a 4x4 overlander the best machine is the one that gets you back home and steel cogs will stand more chance than a burnt up belt
Should try to drag the ATV with it lol
That Yamaha will outlast that Kawasaki put a new set of tires on it you won't have an issue with it bottoming out or losing traction with it missing gears mine would do that too if I was running it real hard and pretending like it was a race machine😂
Those can’t be stock bars for that big bear. No way it came with those ape hangers 😂
They are OEM, all of those in that series had them. I never understood why
