This is the first "upkeep " video I've seen. As sweet as they are normally, they don't like the vet visit. Thank you for rescuing these beautiful creatures. In the wild, they are in the top 10 keeping the ecosystem in check, but these fur farm programs are a blight to me.
It's not just cuz they know it's the vet. Its cuz that's how they typically are around strangers. Plus they can tell something is up usually when they see the catch pole and the bite gloves. And then of course when they're being held down..they don't like that. But everyone always seems to think since they're so loving and stuff with Mikayla or Ethan..anyone who is around them all the time..that that's how they are around everyone. So people are always wanting to go visit and that's not the case. If they aren't familiar with you..chances are..they're going to be skittish around you. If you have treats..they will probably come up and take them from you but most of them are not going to let you really pet them.
Even as humans we don't like injections! They put up with it well!!!! You are really good parents. I think the animals that pass away at SaveAFox are very lucky. Because foxes in the wild and fur farms are never mourned. ...Ethan seems to be better at getting caught than catching.
Mikayla: You and Ethan must be exhausted at the end of each day. You both work SO hard! Thanks for all you do to keep these animals safe and protected.
Really enjoyed watching this. The vet worked a very calm round and you can see the foxes are trusting Mikayla. Don't be shy to show more of these in the future. Healthcare is a big deal.
You have an excellent vet. Watching him work whether at the surgery or in your premises is great. Mikayla, you would have been an amazing vet tech, but most of all you are an excellent owner. You really know your foxes and your mink. As a former vet tech, you are the owner of my dreams your handling them is awesome. They are wild animals and behave as such, even if you are with them. Just one more thing, all the foxes have been very good boys and girls!!!! They deserve treats!!!!

I used to work at a zoo, so I feel your pain. I know that it looks bad when you have to handle them with the gloves, but it is for everyone's safety. Even the most mild-mannered pet will bite when afraid or in pain. That is natural for them.
A lot of the foxes did better then I thought and Atlas the mink was just wow. Bongo made a lot of resistance but he was at the fur farm for so many years so I guess when he saw those gloves it might trigger something from before. Hope they get a lot of snacks after this.
The lil faces animals/foxes give when they're being told "you're okay" when they're doing a good job during an uncomfortable situation *heart melts* (love that Save a Fox and other rescues treat their animals just as domestic owners would in such scary moments for the animal; thank you SaveaFox for showing the reality of your work sometimes!)
I’m sure many times, foxes that Bongo saw be carried away with gloves didn’t come back. Same way some dogs fear the basement as a “bad place”, because of how certain shelters are setup.
@@strydyrhellzrydyr1345 She just went to the vet for something else, so maybe they did her vaccinations then. Or they did it off camera if she's more difficult. 🤷♂️

Yeah a new place definitely doesn't help with their stress levels. Even with a very trusted caretaker being there with them, it's understandably scary (just like getting stuck with needles is stressful for people!) and the "dog method" (putting a big can of yummy goodies in front of them to slurp up) often isn't enough to distract them from it
