I will never forget Kawasaki. When he was a Blue Jay, and got his first home run, every Jays fan (me included) went absolutely crazy. He just seems like the best, most fun guy to be around.
We had a kid like that in gym class from the Netherlands. He was the most unathletic kid you've ever seen and then we got on the soccer field and he destroyed everyone 😂 his name was Martin. He was exactly like this guy
Thinking you can learn that much in a short period of time is dumb. English is the most commonly spoken language but it's most people's second language
This guy was a legend! The way he was just unabashedly him and just jumped into an entirely new culture with nothing but joy and exuberance is commendable. Was awesome to have him on the Cubs for a little bit the year we won it all!
Hideotosho Imura, the actor who played Hideotoshi Hasagawa, did the same thing as Little Papi. Came to America knowing very little English and went to auditions. Lol
I met Kawasaki during spring training in Arizona back in 2017. He signed my game ticket and literally gave my friend and I the best advice possible. “ENJOY YOUR LIFE!” I love that man! Bless his soul.
My favorite story about Kawasaki is that on the Cubs stacked 2016 team, he was a fringe roster guy who was often moving between the MLB and AAA. On the day he was set to be optioned back to AAA after a decent stint, he and Joe Maddon had a fancy dinner to celebrate. He came back up during moments of that season, and we won the World Series. I have a Cubs hat autographed by him, rarely wear it because of said autograph.
Exactly… MLB & the World need guys like this. Everybody is tired of Dumb Athletes making political stands then getting arrested and asking for double standards.
I loved Kawasaki on the Jays, man. My fave moment from that 2015 team was media interviewing Minenori and he said, "We need more champagne," over and over again. He was most likely hammered already because my god was that hilarious 😂
One of the most entertaining/funniest bench players in the last 10-15 years in my opinion. You can't help but love his energy unapologetically honest polite funny without trying to be.
I watched that post-game interview with the notebook while I was at my aunt's house and I didn't know who he was. I had no idea how fortunate I was to have seen it until years later.
Miss So Taguchi for the Cards, he was a good player. I remember living in japan as a kid and a guy seeing my Cardinals hat and talking to me about baseball the Cards and Taguchi.
For a small guy with a limited skillset who primarily came off the bench, he was actually better than most people realize despite having almost zero power (1.2 fWar and 1.67 fClutch in 738 career plate appearances; he was plus fielder, plus base runner and could hit a little when it counted most) . Believe it or not, this video doesn't even scratch the surface on all the memorably weird and hilarious stuff he did in his 5 year tenure in the majors. The guy was never in a bad mood!
I will never forget Kawasaki. When he was a Blue Jay, and got his first home run, every Jays fan (me included) went absolutely crazy. He just seems like the best, most fun guy to be around.
We got a Suzuki and a Kawasaki.
I was at that game never seen the dome get so hyped so quick

Or his Walk-off Base hit , Mark DeRosa scores the winning run 👏😎

The kid you teach the n word to and gets his ass beat for using it around the wrong people.

We is such a funny and peculiar guy. I really enjoyed watching him. There’s no one quite like him
As jays fan, the guy was a beauty. Has some of the best interview clips you’ll ever see, beyond the ones shown here.
honestly, dude's a legend. frickin hilarious. i was so happy he was on the cubs for that short time in that magical 2016 season.

He's my all time favorite athlete
I love this man with all my heart 😅
He doesn’t need no translator that was perfect
Muni was the greatest! Love that guy. maybe not the best player in the world, but that guy had heart pouring out of him.
Watching Kawasaki hit a walk off double in extra innings was the greatest game I've ever attended.
That kind of fun energy is incredibly infectious. Hopefully he comes back as a coach. Long live Kawa 😂
This man taught the world how to avoid cramps
I LOVED this man!!!
I watched that post-game interview with the notebook while I was at my aunt's house and I didn't know who he was. I had no idea how fortunate I was to have seen it until years later.
I wish I had the raw charisma and confidence of Munenori Kawasaki.
He has a beautiful spirit.

Kawa is hands down my favorite player of all time...such a character 😂
he reminds me of that Japanese ballplayer from Major League 2
Japanese legend says he's still repeating "He's big, Kawa small..."
When the personality gets to come through it makes sports that much better
He was awesome. Would play catch with fans every home game when he was with the Jays

My favourite Blue Jay, got his jersey
Favorite interview from Blue Jays since their inception… easily!!
The world would be a better place with more Munenori Kawasakis.
I love fun and positive people
He’s not an athlete, he’s a ball player. Ball players are characters and we love it.
Miss So Taguchi for the Cards, he was a good player. I remember living in japan as a kid and a guy seeing my Cardinals hat and talking to me about baseball the Cards and Taguchi.
He loves America and America loves him. Simple and wonderful.
Just hit, just throw, just catch, JUST WIN! SOUND ADVICE 💪

That "thank you very much" at the end of the interview was the cherry ontop

I dont care what he says, his excitement and humor speaks volumes.
That's a man that's loved every hour of his job
This when you understand how fortunate you are and live life to its fullest.

Kawa and Ortiz is the best dynamic😂 A japanese man with broken english and a fiery dominican, we need them to do an interview together?
"Monkey never cramp"
Kawasaki when asked why he eats bananas before every game. Love this dude, Cubs should've kept him.
"Cause Monkeys never craps!"
