    You can keep the job of chauffeur on those rigs. Damn! They're the only guys in the City who put in more miles than the cabbies because they're the only FDNY line company the routinely responds citywide. Correct me if my memory is off or things have changed.

    Awesome! I'd love to catch HazMat! Just a shame no siren.
    What was that about getting a ticket?

      I'll be back so stay tuned...
      Just was asking the guy for the ticket so I can show it in the beginning of the video. I received permission and I lost the picture lol...

    Why does the Hazmat company have 2 huge rigs? Any idea what the second piece carries compared to the main rig?

    I've seen that NYFD has squads and hazmat that might have a "2nd piece." How are they dispatched and handled from a radio traffic perspective? Are both apparatus and associated personnel considered "one" and roll to every call together?

    Wait. 288 is stationed with HazMat?
    Also that's a big response to throw down some oil dry

    • @TheResponder
      @TheResponder  7 лет назад

      Yes. It is a huge firehouse stationed with 4 rigs!

      Squad 288 and Haz Mat 1 share quarters in Maspeth, Queens. The house is just off the junction of the LIE, 69 Street, and Grand Ave.

      Squads are up trained and equipped pumpers. HazMat 1 has even more advanced training and capabilities. The firehouse is located adjacent to the Long Island Expressway just east of the junction with the Brooklyn Queens Expressway allowing them ready access to much of the city. This particular house sustained the greatest loss of life on 9/11.

    I saw a similar video a year or so ago. And I asked this same Question. Why does the first piece stop after exiting the house, then wait for the second piece to pass and then follow along? It seems to me that the lead truck (2nd piece) should be first out of the house.

      the second unit blocks traffic the first unit has to get to the seen first

    Really nice vid. But as a FF, I hated going red lights and sirens on calls like these. A vehicle leaking fluid is not an emergency call. It should be a non emergency response, no lights/sirens. Get there when you get there. Keep up the good work.

      25mfd a vehicle leaking fluid is an emergency when there are a few million people in that borough. Secondly I don’t know where you are but without running code it would take them a loooonnng time getting thru NYC traffic without running code.

      and in the city this big, no light or siren could be over 2 hrs response
