Designing my Alien was a lot of fun, but I have other Ideas I want to do. I understand your desire to have 1 entry per person, so maybe we could do this again in the future, giving everybody a chance to further flesh out this world? Or maybe we use designs from this season to imagine close relatives?
I edited this comment, because I actually have two questions now, first is just out of curiosity and second will have more of an effect on my submission. First, Is it okay to provide a design for a predator/parasite of your alien? Second, is it okay to mention and show the more private areas of your alien for speculative scientific reasons? Because for my creature I planned to have a brief illustration of them giving birth to a mucus sac that their babies would soon come out of, and I was also considering showing the slits that conceal their genitalia(though not the genitalia themselves). I just got Discord and it says I shouldn’t post anything inappropriate on your server. My creature is going to be a descendant of the Ambulospeculids that grew larger and moved the four hindmost limbs back to become chelicerae, and turned the left and right probosci into tentacles, and that farms mobile Polyspeculids for food, among other things.
Back in high school our teacher’s final exam was to create a detailed evolutionary history of a modern animal’s speculative evolutionary path in the future. I chose the Asian Water Monitor and placed it in an environment where seals had died off in the coastal zones of Southeast Asia. Monitors took over the niche and I illustrated it too. I would love to do a similar project again, and I believe others do too. This could be a great idea for the community!
@LaTenno I addressed some convergent adaptations to life in the ocean like nostril location and a rudder-like tail, but in this situation there was enough land for these monitors and too many sharks to commit to a fully aquatic lifestyle. Their feet had slight webbing that helped them retain a more otter-like gait on land, and they would routinely bask on hotly contested rocks that males would fight over. They had to mate on land to avoid predators, but were almost completely dependent on fish stocks to survive due to a massive, climate-driven die off of their usual mammalian prey. That’s all I remember unfortunately, but I’ll try to find the project if I can.
I actually did a lecture on astrobiology for my science final during my junior year, using Wayne Barlowe’s work as a reference. I’ve been obsessed with speculative evolution every since, and as an art student I’m excited for the chance to put my skills (or lack thereof) to the test.

@@tylersaurusakro My Latin's very rusty but I believe it's proper to put the adjective (heavenly) after the noun (life) with only a couple of exceptions (of which this isn't one).

@@tooktookdamuffin I mean we have no reason to believe that DNA would just coincidently appear on other planet as it did here. you might find a similar idea, but nucleotides would most likely not be found in outer space.
Spinocroc123 Don’t say that they most likely aren’t. The only life we know of is carbon based. The only other possible alternative we know is silicon and even that we are unsure of as the bonds silicon makes are weaker and less stable. So most likely life will be carbon based as that is a more stable element for building complex molecules.
