My dad actually owns a few gc8s and im really glad seeing you go into the subaru world with a car like this one because its one of the special editions that came with the roof vent , the DCCD controller and the blue dash. Which is also why you feel like the whole car is so raw, it was actually made for rally competitions and only because they wanted to participate in certain event where the rules need them to have a specific amount of car made in order to enter which is also why they only had around 600 of them sold to the market, they kept the rest for the rally competitions. Another thing is that version 6s are very common being the millennium editions where more interior bits are blue and they made 2000 of them to celebrate the start of the 21st century so seeing a non millennium edition is really rare so its really amazing to see you having this car to start your subaru journey but if you are looking for a subaru that is not so raw and more street car then the hawkeye GD STI are also amazing!

It's the best GC8 model (apart from the 22B). More raw and lighter than your evo 5, plus its more rwd biased because it has the DCCD too, think its as much as 30/70 front/rear torque split with the thumb wheel fully back (open position).

So I’m a very large Subaru guy and I can tell you that is that shifty power steering pump. They go out all the time. Go to a junkyard and look for an early 2000s Subaru legacy or Impreza. Grab the power steering pump, the resoviour and both lines from the steering rack. They all bolt in. And the updated ones is not trash

V6 Type R is essentially the model below the 22B.
22B is so much more though - steel wide body, and the 2.2 engine being the biggest differences

Got to love the new wheels. So many potential options & combinations of parts. I believe your 2dr does have less insulation & thinner glass & alloy bonnet. The dccd will allow you to do single point pivot donuts in slippery surfaces 2.

Those screws on the steering wheel are actually JIS screws, similar to Phillips but there are screwdrivers made specifically for them that wont strip the head

Gc8 sti owner, definitely agree that they’re more Tin can like than the evo. But stock for stock my v4 sti was a little bit faster than my friends stock tme in a straight line. Evo definitely handles better in stock format, sti (non dccd) has too much under steer then snap oversteer. But can be fixed with decent lsds

Beginners tip for audience, and Im sure Adam knows, be careful how you adjust track bars. Radial spring rate does increase but the theory is backwards. Rear Adjustments affect the front and visa versa..

the writing on the cup is in french, means "we offer the season" as in (I think) a way to say they provide you a seasonal taste. French is tricky and very different from japanese in lots of ways, but they try their best and lots of writing in Japan is in french, always messed up, which as a french tourist I always found hilarious :) I guess they find french sounds cool&exotic similar as we do for them

Soooo happy to see a gc8 on the channel been waiting for this day since you were riding bmxs with jimmy and the other boys 😍 I’ve got a gc8 atm I’ve owned over 30 of them and I’m in love with them I’ve blown up a few of them but it’s not sti’s that head gaskets it’s the Imprezas that have head gasket issues cause they are paper and wrx and sti is stainless steal
