My granddad ran a saw mill much like yours but smaller. He died in 1958. Told my age 76 next month. He logged two weeks and sawed a week. Snaked the logs out with two horses Sunny and Dan. No power saws back then just axe and cross cut saws. I know what riding the saw means. It's good to watch your mill run. Brings back a lot of good memories.
Mr. Wood. You do all kinds of things relied to wood! I have never seen anyone like you, you must have sawdust in your veins. I wish you all the luck in the future and good health!
Hi John, Great edging video, very edge-acating! lol. You know it's totally legal to drive a vehicle pre 1966 that didn't come manufactured with seatbelts. Todays laws do not apply to that vehicle regarding seatbelt safety. Like you said pre OSHA. 👍😎
You know it’s all in fun till T.H.E Eddie gets upset!!!! But mark seams like a piece of cake!!!! Great video with your videos!!!! P.s. get ya a little pocket laser and mount it in front of the blade for show!! Just for mark!!!
You have all your fingers and toes, that is all that matters. People who try and preach to you about the dangers of milling wood actually have never been around a saw but they want to act like the government and tell you what you are doing wrong. You do it your way, you have everything you were born 🔅
The mills around me sell the slabs of the sides in big bundles banded with medal straps. About 4 or so feet across. I get about 2 face cord of mostly smalls after I cut it up. Plus a few yard craft buildings projects like bird houses lol. Do you sell your slabs ever?
20 or 40 minutes?? You could post a 12 hour video of sawing logs and I'd enjoy watching every single minute of it. As for those squealers about safety, just ignore them. From the viewpoint of a former OSHA Inspector, you're just fine. You're just a Master performing his Craft. Very well, I must say. The main safety improvement I would suggest is to build a cover for the shaft where you cross over to the other side. A simple 3 sided channel made of wood would be suffice. Other than that, you're good to go. I've noticed lately that you've been walking all the way around, so I didn't see any point in saying anything until you mentioned the safety squawkers in these last 2 videos. I know you've been doing this a long time and I know you know your machine. It's evident in the way you operate. Just keep on doing YOUR thing and keep posting the great videos and I'll keep on waiting and watching every chance I get.
@@infoanorexic That may be so, but the good ones aren't there to make things harder, they're actually there to make things safer for everyone so they can go home as healthy as possible each day. Death and injury in the workplace is a very serious matter. In John's case, he's a private 1 man operation. OSHA has no say in what he does. If he wants to risk life and limb doing his thing, he's entitled to do so. But if he hires a helper, he's responsible for their safety at all times while on the job.
